8 years later I still cannot get over the buyer's remorse I've had from buying FFXIII day one.

XIII suffered from being advertised as lightnings game, yet there were entire chapters in the game where you did not play as lightning (although she still remained essential to the story, at least). XIII-2 does this but worse, even if it finally shows her as the Angel she is. It took a third game, LR, to finally give Lightning the place she deserves, as the true Goddess of Final Fantasy.

How do you figure that's bait? FF13 was a huge step up for the series, it had buffs debuffs and status all be useful for one of the first times in the series. It had all sorts of tricks like atb refresh and string cancelling, buffering a move with a Paradigm shift and other stuff, it's hugely above the rest of mainline FF games.
