Really gets the brain powered up. The anti-free speech crowd had no issue with gay/fag until homophobia was added to the "excuse to rob you" list. What will they add to the list next, Sup Forums?

Play with your friends or use the server browser to find a private server that doesn't mind if you shitpost and isn't full of faggots.

Reminder that this isn't about saying nigger and the slippery slope is real. That image is true though.

I really wish people could just sort out their own problems and not rely on some authority to solve the problem for them. I know that can't apply to everything but it's a chat in video games for fuck's sake. Sage.

I never had to have an active group of friends before, I could find a server with strangers who enjoy shittalking.

Oh boy, another thread where idiots have no idea what free speech really means and where mutts don't even know their own laws
Can't wait for bump limit

Yeah, its not ideal, but the times are changing, and the faggots have taken over. Adapt or perish.

At the same time, games with only dedicated servers are dead because newbies get thrown into servers with good players.
Both dedicated servers and matchmaking should be available.
Matchmaking for pugs, dedicated servers for casual and private professional play.

>using the chat in the first place
>not muting everyone

That image is perfect, matchmaking was a mistake.

literally this

how hard is it to type /mute all lmao seriously

>use in-game taunt

What you described is when a game is at the end of its life. Until then, there's usually servers with casuals.

Experience from similar games causes the same issue even at the launch of a game.
Take the launch of the now failed Battalion 1944 for instance, which is very similar to older cod games: Because the ranking system was fucked from the get-go, newbies would just get thrown into matches with experienced players.
Even competitive CS players got 13-0'd because they weren't used to that kind of game.
There's a load of people that want to play pubgs, and matchmaking is ideal for that.
At the same time those people won't end up ruining the experience of people that are playing casually on dedicated servers.

pugs* because autism

Exactly, everyone has different views on what is considered offensive. I'd feel insulted if someone started being polite on here, for example. Sweetie is also infuriating despite being a "nice" word.

Glad to see that sweetieposting actually angers someone.

Oh sweetie...

Only Sup Forumstards care about dedicated servers.

>The majority of Sup Forums grew up as Xbox live kiddies with matchmaking and never experienced the joy of dedicated servers.
I feel bad for you all.

t. Riot employee

I really don't care what you say but I also don't care when you get banned for saying it.

Xbox live wasn't even that bad. At least we could banter without catching bans left and right. Made some long lasting friends that way.

I grew up with dedicated servers and I don't really like them anymore than matchmaking. It's good to have them as an option, but they tend to have annoying admins or stupid inhouse rules.

>get banned
>go to Sup Forums and cry
>get laughed at
>keep making the same thread hoping the results will change

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

>he can't behave online
>he can't deal with consequences of his actions
Also, just because the dumb server admins were too busy jerking eachother off on IRC to ban you doesn't mean people liked your "bants" back then, you sperg.

Attached: 1509916952941.jpg (1000x875, 119K)

So just like now, but you're stuck with the same shit admins and rules on every server.

The government doesn't grant you rights you fucking idiot

Inhouse rules are fucking lame. Getting banned for using shotguns is dumb as fuck. Now everyone follows the same ruleset and I don't have to deal with some shitter powertripping with the minimal amount of power he can obtain.

>be miserable
>pretend to not be to shill for corporate censorship

I'm not laughing though, it's just sad

you're the most autistic person this board has seen in a while, so congratz on that

What's wrong with casual/comp being split?

Why doesn't it work?

>have no arguments
>resort to buzzwords

next I'll be a sjw soyboy cuck ur still banned tho :^)

I remember everyone including admins regularly using faggot.

it's probably because some people are just fucking awful at the game it's hard to tell.

>I really wish people could just sort out their own problems and not rely on some authority to solve the problem for them.
The current generation was raised by helicopter parents and weren't allowed to talk to each other. All they know is that when shit hits the fan they have to run to authority. Like little bitches that they are.

In all my years, I can count on one hand the times that happened. House rules is a choice every server should be free to make.

Every one of these threads is full of retards thinking the shit companies are doing are only against people saying nigger when in reality any sort of comment that's not 100% flowery and positive will lead to a ban as this progresses.
And even then judging by that one journalist being nice will get you banned too

Attached: Contemplative Kermit.jpg (221x246, 16K)

The internet and gaming in particular makes it harder to deal with shit yourself in a meaningful way. An unlikable shit will get ostracized and ignored quickly if they try to play pickup sports. But the internet lets them hide behind anonymity. Yeah I can report them if they throw my game but they've wasted the time of X other people. Just fucking ban the trash already and let worthwhile people keep playing.

Slippery slope is a fallacy for a reason.

>muh slippery state
>muh gamer principles
You seriously have to be extremely awful to get banned. Companies like this has every reason to keep you playing and gives you ample reason to reform through limited time mutes and temporary bans. Only gigaspergs actually get parma'd.

user 1 vs user 2

>user 1
wakes up early in the morning and spends 35 minutes doing stupid poses in front of a mirror with his katana, longcoat and fedora, then spends the rest of the day shitposting in Sup Forums until at 3 am he decides to play some league

>user 2
wakes up in the morning, takes 15 minutes to take a goob bath and goes to his work, he's not the smartest man on earth but manages, gets back at 3 pm and decides to play league

>user 1
constantly berates his teammates for hours on end, even tho he's aware of the ToS and knows that he's breaking the rules but continues to be an edgy autist, gets a warning message from support to cut that shit out, yet continues to shit up the enviroment with his retarded "banter"

>user 2
plays some chill games of league, enjoys himself, however, sometimes we have a bad day and get angry, maybe he had a bad day at work, maybe had a discussion with his GF, as a result, vents out in game and calls someone a faggot, the support team sends him a ticket and he dismisses it with confidence because he does this once in 300 games

>user 1
gets banned and rushes to shitpost on V

>user 2
continues to enjoy the game with no issues

witch one are you user?

>getting in trouble for hitting bullies back instead of running to a teacher
I think you hit the nail on the head.

Sure, I agree and I think they should exist. I just don't like them and I don't miss them personally. In house rules are something I never enjoy. Learn to play the game right or don't fucking play it is my general attitude.

>you have to be extremely awful
No you don't. Overwatch bans you for literally anything which the devs have made statements demonstrating this and now Siege and other games are copying this mentality.
But keep pretending because someone hurt your feelings.

>go on server
>read rules
>break rules
>get banned

WTF FUCKING POWERTRIPPING ADMINS CAN'T WAIT TO GET ON Sup Forums AND WHINE ABOUT THIS

Throwing games is a bigger deal than mean words though. And no I'm not just talking about shit like nigger and faggot. See Overwatch.

I've never been muted or banned in a game and I've been playing games regularly since the 90s. I shit talk fairly often as well but I'm funny about it so no one cares. You're probably just unlikable.

>Slippery slope is a fallacy for a reason.
Yeah just like with DLC, that totally didn't grow more and more until every AAA game has gambling that allows you to buy pow- Oh.

You had no argument in the first place.

Neither. I don't play shitty games. :^)

I accept your concession

>in reality any sort of comment that's not 100% flowery and positive will lead to a ban as this progresses
>said shitter, retard, several different variants of fuck, and more insults/unsavory language over the past year and a half of overwatch
>no bans, no mutes
Yea, nah. You're fag and you can't fool me.

Attached: 1493992913319.gif (200x200, 1.1M)

wow you fucking pwnt that Sup Forumstard. Keep up the good fight, we're taking back our board :D

>play game x
>while playing game x criticize one of your teammates or say something else relatively tame
>get banned from game x
>developers of game x spread your info to developers of other games and your ban status
>you are now banned from games y and z among other games
>potentially banned from Discord as well
This is the future you people chose and continue to defend.

Attached: no irl.jpg (680x586, 128K)

I usually just left the server when I read their shitty rules. But it wasted my time joining then leaving and I don't care that's it gone.
I agree. Throwing is where I draw the line for agreeing with bans. I wouldn't ban someone for shit talk personally but I get why companies do it. More people have thin skin than thick skin so why not appeal to the vast majority. Kids on Sup Forums don't matter.
AAA games have never been great. Good DLC still functions like expansion packs that I was enjoying before most of Sup Forums was born.

The threads are split in opinion, your deluded mind only paid attention to the posts you agreed with.

There is no difference between person 1 and 2 in the dev's eyes

>Someone acually put effort into this image and post
LMAOing at your life

>get BTFO
>start crying about Sup Forums

every time

It'll never affect me so I don't really care. If it filters a few russians out of my games so much the better.

Does it matter? Overwatch will have like 100k players maximum by next year, half due to aimbot banwaves and half due to the horribly unrewarding and braindead nature of matchmaking (and no custom servers because Blizzard has a complex nowadays thanks to DOTA.)

Attached: enough.jpg (440x429, 119K)

>AAA games have never been great. Good DLC still functions like expansion packs that I was enjoying before most of Sup Forums was born.
>not adressing the point
>lol ur underage
Honestly what's the fucking point of talking to you? You've made up your mind already.

These bans only happen in shitty soyboy games

>Overwatch will have like 100k players maximum by next year,

it has 100k max players right now

>It'll never affect me
You'll screw up in one way or another eventually judging by how strict games are becoming

I just don't buy slippery slope arguments and because I've never been banned or muted while speaking my mind I don't see it as a problem.

If we're all in gulags in 30 years then say I told you so. But otherwise I just don't give a shit if some of you kids get muted.

You mean idiots who don't even play video games.

I sincerely doubt it. This shit mostly affects ragey kids and mankids.

>your concerns are only valid if they come true and we hit a point where it's too late to prevent the problem from happening

this is why you bag groceries for a living, user

Attached: League of Legends head of PR.jpg (1282x768, 233K)

I put little effort into the post. Checkmate.

Thing that never happened? Ok Sup Forumstard.

>this shit affects anyone who doesn't talk like an emasculated robot in video games
FTFY
Though that might change if more people start to get upset by people being nice like in Overwatch

Swing and a miss on that one, good effort though fella. People way smarter than you consider slippery slope to be a logical fallacy for a reason.

instead of discussing bans for toxicity, can we just discuss how fucking awful matchmaking is?
e.g. i enjoy playing against better players from time to time, so i can copy their strategies and become better or at least see what my mistakes are. i also enjoy stomping noobs occasionally.
matchmaking removes both of these options and (theoretically) puts you against "equally good/bad" players. if you never play against better players, how can you possibly improve? you'll get into habits that only work against other bad players and you'll stay at the same skill level forever. also, what if you're having a bad day or just want to mess around a bit? once you're in a specific skill bracket, you'll get matched with players of that skill. if you don't perform well because you're ill or something, you'll let down your team and lose over and over again, since the skill bracket doesn't adjust that quickly.
matchmaking also makes you play with complete strangers every time you get in a new match. with community servers and free choice of servers you can play against the same people every day and try to make friends.
matchmaking is fucking cancer, i don't even see the point of it. the only "benefit" it has is that noobs get to play against noobs and good players get to play against good players. that way no one gets their feelings hurt or their game ruined. but it's not like you're stuck with one server without matchmaking. you can switch anytime you want, matchmaking prevents even that.

>muh Sup Forums

Like a clockwork.

Where's the argument? I'm merely pointing out my observation that you appear to me as miserable

Daddy Jeff and the gang have openly said they'll ban for shit like """taunt abuse"""
You can get banned for playing a lot of a single character that is considered non-meta as is. And now Blizzard is going to infect other games with their retarded standards.

I talk the same way online that I do playing pick up sports irl. You can shit talk and not get banned pretty easily.

anecdotal since they were all calling you a faggot

This image is so painfully accurate.

What do we do about it?

Everyone who doesn't like heavy moderation is Sup Forums after all

That's called projection my dude, you are upset because you got banned and are powerless to change anything. You come to Sup Forums and throw a tantrum, it's hilarious

Depends on the game and it's becoming less and less true for games as toxicity bans become more widespread of a concept.

The keyword is "abuse". But hey games are better off without tards like you in them.

Justify the current system and ignore the problem.

>believing taunt abuse is a real concept
>getting upset over someone taunting
End your existence, god people like you would have shat your diapers if you played older online FPS games

Well learn how to make friends and set up a community.

Dedicated servers are the LFR of social gaming.

Dedicated servers, removing custom servers and massive overbearing moderation isn't put in place to protect you. It's put in place so the game can be marketed to demographics who don't really buy video games (housewives, minorities, normalfags, children) without fear of them being chased away by people spamming NIGGER in chat. This is also why games are becoming gradually more and more stupid & forgiving from a gameplay perspective, to the point where a game once considered extremely casual a decade ago (Team Fortress 2) is one of the few games still alive where mechanical skill enables good players to rampage all over less good players. The difference between practicing rocket jump rollouts and various maps and "PRESS SHIFT TO ROCKET JUMP" speaks for itself.

If you want video games to be video games you should oppose terrible doting in-game moderation. If you want every game to be a flash-in-the-pan, unrewarding marketing experiment to try and grab as much cash as possible before the half-assed thing dies unceremoniously (Overwatch) keep supporting it.

Attached: mess.jpg (374x417, 18K)

Matchmaking is fine. You play people moderately better or worse than you all the time in fighting games. Team games are always going to suck so no point mentioning them.

I'm on Sup Forums, I don't have any friends.

Attached: 1475107912439.jpg (1214x584, 328K)

>TF2 actively encouraged banter through the domination system and taunt and even on official servers you could do and say whatever the fuck you wanted
>in 2018 a game like that would be deemed """toxic""" and get flamed
I hate this timeline. So much.

Attached: 1521389850600.jpg (576x300, 52K)

I literally play overwatch with some friends and have never been muted or banned or warned or anything. I think most of the whining has been heavily exaggerated. I yelled at a kid not that long ago asking if the Y axis on his mouse was broken because he wouldn't shoot pharah. Nothing happened.

>tfw all chats muted for a soy-free experience

It's funny how 9 years of development, and a few more afterward, makes a game basically immortal. We will genuinely never see another game on par with TF2.

You get banned for being demonstratively uncooperative in a competitive game mode. You can play whatever character you want as long as you communicate with your team in a more substantial manner than "fuck you guys im gonna do what i want to do."

how can you 'abuse' a taunt? like, when are you """allowed""" to taunt and when not?
if it can be 'abused' why not remove it from the game or implement the feature in a way that can't be abused (like the 'need a dispenser here' spam in tf2)?
banning people for using fucking built-in game features is god damn retarded.

Are you just posting shit at random now?
