Most people at these games are trash, but unlike popular franchises like CoD or Battlefield where trash can get carried, winning in PUBG or Fortnite for these players is nearly impossible. People somehow go dozens, or hundreds of hours and games played without winning a single time.
I've noticed in Squads especially you get tons of younger kids or just really awful players looking to get carried
It also combines the moment to moment feel good shit survival games had, which was the looting. People like getting slightly better stuff and having a power progression all contained into like 30 minutes of a match

From what little I've played I think the appeal is feeling like you're doing good since you can just idle and still make top 25 (at least) and since you don't respawn there's that "okay, NEXT time I'll do better" feedback loop.

I am pretty baffled at the sheer awfulness of the player base. I started doing squads and I straight up on 4v1s like 75% of the time, in a game where you can literally build walls the moment you start getting shot at, and 4 assault rifles at once are impossible to defend against.

Fortnite is extremely inoffensive. Unlick Minecraft or Clash of Clans or Hearthstone or Candy Crush or League, I am absolutely okay with Fortnite having blown up in popularity.

Sounds good to me. I'm not super into the game, but I definitely like playing a couple of rounds every few days. It is an excellent filler game when my friends and I can't decide on something to play.

I actually think it is pretty awesome. The craft system helps stop the major issue a lot of games like this (and shooting games in general) have, which is that you can never 100% control your surroundings so it feels really bad to lose just because someone saw you before you saw them. Being able to immediately build after taking fire in order to create a structure and control your surroundings is great and it makes for duels that are actually interesting.
It is, it used to only have a PVE mode where you defend your stuff vs zombies like in orcs must die, then they made this mode and everyone just plays this.
The PVE mode is still pay to play, at least until it comes out of early access.

It's almost like the problem isn't the game but the maps.
I'm still hoping for a smaller PUBG map with lots of verticality. Like an abandoned NYC knockoff or something.
My only issue with PUBG and Fortnite are that they really fuel this horrible streaming culture. I'm glad I didn't grow up in the age where kids spend their day at school talking about and quoting their favorite streamers, and then go home to watch them and donate their allowance to them. This eceleb nonsense is pure trash and people making millions off of it just shows how retarded modern society is with money management. The fact that people are more willing to donate hundreds to thousands of dollars to some guy sitting on his chair rambling instead of a charity, or investing, or getting a better education, or improving their living conditions, etc... is fucking pathetic.

Im not even that guy but Ive seen people donate thousands to a streamer to get their name in "Top Donations" and the like. There was one guy named something like ChineseDotaBestDota who had his name as the top donor for 10 different streamers or some shit. That user is right, if you consider the amount of money some people donate, they really could be bettering their lives or at least making better purchases. You could buy a new fucking console and a library of games easily with some of the amounts I see get donated.
