Not that guy, but while anime certainly had some great ideas, something about Dante felt boring. Not saying he should have been uncle Dante from DMC4, but most of the time he barely felt like being there, the show was carried more by the rest of the cast, while Dante was just a helping hand.

The DMC anime is just a worse Cowboy Bebop. The episode plots aren't as interesting, the world isn't well fleshed out, the supporting cast is not as good, the enemies are super generic. But if you NEED to see Dante on the screen, this one's for you.

Well provided he was added to DMCV from the start or in a perfect world DMCV is Vergil's game then he would actually be balanced with new moves. He's overpowered in DMC4:SE because that was outsourced by people who didn't know what they were doing.

Stay back and use the pistols to shoot the little balls he spawns in front of his face. When you have DT go to town.

When he spawns the six little balls to your left and right, take out the ones on the left first and then slash the ones on the right when they start moving towards you.

When he launches the three glowing missiles, you can hit them back with a neutral YYY combo. If you time the first one right, mashing Y with typically work for the next two.

When he winds up for a punch, just stand back as he doesn't actually have enough reach to hit you if you're as far back on the platform as you can be. Then follow it up with some slashes.

Beyond that it's just a matter of avoiding chip damage from all the fucking lasers.

If you have an untouchable, use it and DT then just run into the lava to get as much damage in as you can.

I want multiple spear weapon where you keep summoning more spears if you are succesful at comboing.

Functional but missing several effects in each game (even more so compared to the previous HD collection) audio is also low quality, worst of it being DMC1 cutscenes, no HD assets to speak of with no art or menu's re-done, anything pre-rendered hasn't been touched so it's very low quality, basically presentation is poor but the gameplay is there.

So is it better to emulate? Or do I need to get them on an actual PS2 for the full experience?

I wouldn't reccomend emulation at all and for best visual quality the PS2 versions are still the best although if you only care about Gameplay the HD collection on PC is more than good enough.

The issues with the HD port are well documented with several people uploading several comparisons between PS2 and HD to highlight the issues. The port isn't great it's actually pretty poor but it's functional.

Ive only seen it once when I was a teenager but I certainly dont recall it having the gothic horror aesthetics/mood of 1 or 3. Literally the only "DMC" thing about it is Dante himself and even there he doesnt really act like any of the ingame versions of him

If you're still on normal mode you can just go to one of the inner platforms, DT and then just mash sword to do most of his health bar.

Fuck Nero and fuck Vergil, just do Dante with a very complete and fleshed out system that finally takes the good aspects of 3 and 4. Let players pick 2 extremely strong styles and 2 guns and weapons (hopefully this would mean something like 5-10 guns and devil arms each) and obviously all the styles from the series up until now with the less good ones like darkslayer more fleshed out and with some newcomers added in

DMC1 is an good game that deserves respect for creating a genre but it's massively overrated and certainly not a must play
DMC2 is hot garbage and anyone who pretends its even worth a look is wrong
DMC3 is the best game in the series and great by any account, except for the fact that the "puzzles" are awful and pace breaking
DMC4 has a combat system that is probably technically better than 3 but the weapons have nowhere near enough impact to be as satisfying as 3 or even 1. A lot of the bosses (especially savior) are terrible and people overrate the shit out of the game in general. still good tho
DmC:DMC is actually a solid action game that got tons of shit because "it's not like the originals >:(" and people got (justifiably) angry over some of the changes to the combat. It's still miles ahead of the typical trash the genre gets filled with though. What was really bizarre was seeing people try and claim that DMC had some great story that got ruined.
