Story was terrible.
This.
Persona 3 had the best plot though.
Because they were still in the phase of pretending that the Persona series wasn't going to be a glorified waifu high school simulator
Not when there were huge gaps lasting months where absolutely nothing happened.
Fuuka is so ugly
I love Fuuka
no she is not!
By far the worst S links
You could say the same thing about 4 and 5.
Plot's great with a very solid theme.
Characters actually got development past their introduction.
Plot actually did stuff with the characters, wasn't afraid to kill people off.
Story wasn't as structural as P4 (and P5 to a lesser extent). Actually had variables to at play to make every cycle feel unique (strega, Shuji, etc.)
Less slice-of-life bullshit.
No you couldn't.
2 was better.
I NEVER FELT LIKE
I actually really liked the battle system. I just wish they made issuing tactics faster.
P5 improved the system a lot, but then built the game around being able to issue individual commands. One of these days I might try a P3 run complete with overpriced DLC shit
You're wrong
Give me a call.
You forgot terrible gameplay, forgettable s.links and nothing to do but study
4 has a better setting and atmosphere
5 has better gameplay, artstyle, and waifus
4 and 5 kind of had the opposite problem.
>3: You're going to fight a big monster each month, plot will randomly weave in and out of these scenarios
>4: Someone will get captured, then you'll go in, fight their shadow and recruit them. Repeat.
>5: PLOTPLOTPLOTPLOT loooooong paaaatch of nothiiiiing PLOTPLOTPLOT OH GOD WE GOT TOO AMBITIOUS, THE FINALE NOW LASTS ONE INGAME DAY
Am not!
Fuuka is the most beautiful being in existence!
>fixed
uh no buddy "fixing" the battle system makes the game too easy the game was made and balanced around using the tactics system, sorry if you were too retarded and spout out the marin karin meme because you never used tactics
I hated the plot in Persona 5 after the Casino. It literally went full retard so fast and got more retarded as it went on.
I'm playing on merciless without using direct order and I can't believe how they fucked the AI up
I just want to fight alongside teamates with will of their own , not have them act as glorified persona holders
2's my favorite.
Yes you can.
That's complete bullshit. P4 was easily the worst in terms of pacing. There were literal weeks of time were you did fucking nothing except for "waiting for the police to make their move". It was absolute garbage.
P5 kept its plot going almost consistently with unique events and random factors at play. Meanwhile P4's plot is the exact same shit for 80% of the game until Nanako.
She's barely acceptable in her best images, post something actually from P3 that isn't gross
While I did like the second half the best, especially the final boss, the first half is boring and there's fuck all to do at night.
4 and 5 had some weird problem where the basic premise was good, yet ATLUS thought the stakes needed to be raised to P3 levels towards the end of the game.
Fuuka is not gross!
She is pretty and comely!
>She is pretty and comely!
More like shitty and homely
The way everything about the themes was woven into the game was pure fucking kino.
This.
No you can't. There was always something happening, even in 5 after getting Futaba when the game falls apart.
Somebody made a mod for FES that actually lets you control the party. I may despise you P3fags, but have at you and have fun
youtube.com
The problem with P5 isn't the stakes, it's that the game oversells the story so hard nothing comes as a surprise
I mean who the fuck didn't see Akechi coming from a mile away, why did they show us Okumura get killed instead of surprising the player in a moment of "yeah yeah sure change of heart as usual " , why show us Shido at every fucking step of the game while trying to pretend we'ré not supposed to know what he did to the player and what he's scheming, even though the news keep repeating shit about coïncidences that end up benefiting him
>troubled teens
>oppressive and dark themes
>hero sacrifice at the end
>moments of bright and shining warmth to offset the bleakness of the setting
>knowing that perhaps someday, somehow, Elizabeth will free Door-kun and he'll get to kiss Mitsuru again
Elizabeth will never free door. Phantom Thieves have the best chance at that and they destroyed their only method to doing so.
Wrong P2, but otherwise good taste
Elaborate
this is the best girl in the series.
Door stays as a door to stop Erebus, a manifestation of humanity's desire for death. The only way for door to willingly pass on is for Erebus to permanently disappear, but that won't happen unless humanity as a whole has a change of heart. Mementos was the collective Palace for humanity, but that was destroyed when PT took down Yaldy. At this point, there's no easy way for door to come back and he'll likely be stuck in his limbo unless Philemon directly intervenes.
Philemon still exists?
Is Persona 2 really that good? How are the PSP versions?
The butterfly in P3's intro and P4's save points apparently represent Philemon watching over the protags, according to the devs.
It wasn't.
One could argue it's more realistic in that sense because there were multiple defined arcs in the game, rather than one giant patchwerk arc.
By that logic P3 is the worst because you have to wait a full month before anything happens
But there's a given reason why you have to wait a month. In P4, there's absolutely no reason. P4 made a mistake sticking to the calendar system when there was absolutely no need for it.
P3 has random story cutscenes in the middle where stuff happens in most months.
Would've been better without the highschool sim and dating sim stuff. Also those three enemy persona users and their story should've been fleshed out some more.
What kills Persona 3 is the lack of real sense of progression.
In 4 and 5 dungeons have several story cutscenes in the middle and the big boss of the chapter as the goal, with its story resolution.
In 3 you're forced to go through these awful copypasted floors with nothing to break the monotony and fight these shitty generic bosses/minibosses with absolutely no stakes involved, THEN you have to wait for the boss of the month to pop up out of nowhere during full moon, and if you're lucky to get some story progression.
It kills the will to play the game. How do you even fuck up the basic dungeon formula that has worked fine ever since dawn of tabletop RPGs?
>tfw look like Kazushi
>tfw have chariot personality
P3 progresses in character arcs.
You haven't read the post.
The idea of having to manage time is good but P4 does it horribly. There's no difference between saving someone as early as possible or as late as possible.
Battle system sucks, but not for the reason most people say it does. The whole point of turn based RPG as a gameplay style is that it's the best method of controlling a small squad of characters and keeping them very customizeable **without giving up control to AI**. Atlus should've just made P3 some sort of action game where you can issue commands to your allies if they really wanted to retain that aspect of it, instead you have this weird "worst of both worlds" system going on in P3.
>but not for the reason most people say it does.
>lists the reason that everyone says
Persona 3 probably has the worst game play in the series, but makes up for it in other aspects. Tarturus is an absolute slog to go through, they floors look way too similar, they all have generic and simple layouts, and there is so many floors to it. Battle system was ok, press turn system helped, but not taking direct control of party members was a pain, and the tatics options only helped a little. Social links were very basic game play wise, mostly watching a few cut secens and leveling up in order to get bonuses for fusions, which got improved in the psp port, like the battle system.
I could add on, but P3 is still a great game despite its flaws. If they have a remake then I hope it brings in some improvements like and some revamps in social links and such.
>worst social links
>worst dungeon
>worst bosses
>worst daily life sim
>overall worst cast
>best
What did he mean by this?
>Persona 3 probably has the worst game play in the series
You can't say that when p1/2 exist
P3 has shit dungeons, but p4 is the worst.
Nice ideas, shit execution. It's looked on fondly because it's more creative than it's sequels are. Genuinely would have been a tighter narrative and a more enjoyable experience if you outright removed the high school life sections altogether, as much as people hate to admit it.
Persona started with 3, exactly like its persona-collecting spin-off, SMT.
P2's gameplay was shit, I'll grant you that but are you actually trying to argue that P1 is somehow worse than P3's experimental bullshit? Fuck off you delusional dickrider
High school life sections were literally the top reason why P3 made it big into the mainstream, opening up the way to P4 which was an even bigger hit.
All those characters look ugly as fuck. I can't believe weebs defend this ugly ass artstyle.
P1 had actual decent dungeons and exploration with first person. Even though P1 had an archaic battle system, the positioning elements and demon negotiations with party members were both good features, but could have been done better. P2 improved in some areas, but made the combat too easy at points, with many battles coming down to using fusion spells to gain mutations and getting massive damage. It also kept demon negotiation but simplified it, and made it better in the process, without needing to know specific attributes but instead just using a party member. The top down perspective was ok since it let you see your surroundings better, and feels overall faster than P3-5's exploration. I would say I like press turn a lot better than P1 and 2's systems, but I would much rather dungeon crawl in those games then go through Tarturus.
Two reasons. It had a great atmosphere. They really got that "people trying to remain hopeful with doom hanging over their heads" vibe right. And it had the right balance between 'character is an anime trope' and 'character is a realistic human being.' 4 and 5 went way over into pure anime stereotype territory.
Absolutely. Game still would've been a tighter narrative and overall more enjoyable experience without it though. Though it wouldn't be seen as creative as it is perhaps.
>boring unfun tartarus slog
>you can't connect with most of the party except the women
>best party member is temporary
>social links all sucked except for the monk, dying guy, art guy
I haven't played p1 but the p2 dungeons were nothing special, despite being handmade they had about the same complexity as the randomly generated dungeons but with the annoyance of random encounters every 5 steps, I still preferred the p3/4 dungeon crawling (also because the systems around it are more fun, like persona fusion).
Art guy sucked.
Old couple and Maya were the only other good ones.
I had a pretty good friend back in school who was a MASSIVE Persona 3 fan. He cosplayed as the MC, acted like him, had posters of P3 on his wall as well. Never really met someone so addicted to a specific video game. He actually tried to mimic the MC. He would act like emo and shy/anti-social. Spent all his time on the PC playing video games, or watching anime and Youtube videos. Have you guys ever known anyone like this? Is it autism?
i forgot about them. that one was sweet
>teacher confesses to you
>die literally 20 minutes later
yeah fuck this game
>completing 5 gives you the trophy A NEW Journey
>tfw P5-II with Akechi incoming
Well this is a backhanded post.
>why is my personal opinion objectively true in every way?
Sup Forums is useless for actual discussion
Sounds like a cool dude, hope he didn’t kill himself.
>best girl isn't canon
and yet there managed to be a discussion regardless of your autism because everyone else manages to read between the lines of posts like that
Persona 2 Dancing Third Reich when?
She's canon in our hearts
He wasn't suicidal, and he had lots of friends actually. He just liked to mimic the P3 main character. Also he was pretty anti-social and shy, but he was chill and a nice guy. He did tell me he had depression though, but it would come and go for him.
>describing persona 2 to friends
"The final boss is a time traveling Hitler with a Stand wielding the true lance of longinus in outer space"
I need P2Arena first.
>Koromaru
"No!"
Also where is second best girl and her gf?
Please fuck off.
Shit dungeon and shit gameplay not to mention shit S links
>perso"nu" fags
Your right, her gf is best girl
oh my..
>p3p
>fixed anything
Kill yourself user.
.
The combat in P5 is better tho
Not an argument
Fucking Labrys got in the dance game. Where is FeMC!
