>cant get a gem with a gold ticket

well fuck

Either Capcom forgot about adding Pickle Gem or they really want you to 'git gud' with killing him

Sitting on two gems, already upgraded the CB and Hammer. Might go with Lance since that's apparently really good but I haven't played lance at all yet. I wish the armor skills were better.

I got one off a carve, but everyone and their mom just traps and tranqs the moment he starts limping.

And the only investigation I have is capture.

I need lots of gems.

Does pickle have a turf war with all flying wyverns or is it just Diablos?

Does he do the same to Black Diablos?

>internet down all day due to storms
I just want to hunt monsters dammit

Do you only get gems off carves?
This is my first MH; all I ever do is capture stuff

Not typically but I've done a bunch of captures and gotten zero gems but got one off a carve, so I don't know.

Capturing in World is literally just MORE REWARDS than carving. The only things you can miss out on are breaks.

>wanting to cheese new content

Actually this. If you break every part you have a good chance of a gem dropping. Literally every part you can carve can drop a gem.

t. got my first gem from carving off a severed tail

I always thought that was weird since it's actually easier to capture enemies than it is to kill them

with everyone

I just fought Deviljho for the 1st time. Is he supposed to be that easy? I literally fell asleep mid fight twice and I didn't cart once. I was nodding off for the whole mission, which is why it took almost all of the 50 minutes.
I'm using GL if anyone cares.

I guess the next new monster will come out in May and wil be teased in the April stream.

Do you think it would have been better to just have a summer update with 3-4 monsters or release them one at a time?

It must take a lot of work to implement them, their turf wars, weapons, armor, etc. For monsters that arent just reskins.

>start a room
>after loading, turn off internet
your welcome

Personally, one at a time is better. Unlike the previous entries which reuses assets from past games, World's assets are made from the ground up which is why there aren't as much monsters compared to the others

I'd rather they release them in batches. Gives you a bunch of things to do every now and then.

I only have one gem, what weapon do I get?

I've gotten two off silver slots. In the same mission.

he was talking about the melding pot user

Unless there's something special about Jho, in world, the carve and capture drop tables turned out to be exactly the same. Part breaks, quest rewards, investigation rewards, and pluderblade drops are different tables though.

If you're in the end game, then yeah, he's easy. I would hope everything would be if you're decked out.

>World's assets are made from the ground up

you don't really believe that, do you? obviously they've been upgraded and new animations added, but they still use the same base skeleton and animations. most of the upgrades are just textures even. In any case, it's far from ground up.

I'm happy with any update adding new content. My last MH was Tri and I played that shit for like 600 hours. I don't remember downloading any new monsters or getting any balance patches.

And you still had to deal with the annoying bullshit that is rotating event quests.

From what I understand the engine is new and assets have to be made from the ground up, but I honestly don't know.

6 Deviljho Gems
0 Deviljho Spit

there's no way they remade so many of those animations again so exactly like the originals.

It's World's way of casualling everything. Drops rates should be different, some items should only come from carves. There's literally ZERO reason NOT to break all the parts and cap the monster; killing the monster is actually punishment.

Fuck fighting the pickle in Rotten Vale
Other than that, I got a gem off a tail carve once

I know for a fact Vaal's fangs only come from carves. Rarely from investigation rewards, either.

seriously, at least breaking parts give different stuff, but the more varied rewards you get from doing the fight differently, the more the fight varies as you farm the monster, keeping it from getting boring. Probably why I burnt out quicker than any other MH.

I enjoyed it though. I really wish we had that lobby system. I thought for sure it would at least be similar. I'd say that's my biggest complaint about World. Tri felt a lot more social thanks to the online system, but World always feels barren outside of arena rooms where the Gathering Hall is actually being used.

He seems really lame in this game. All he does is jump and charge.
Where's the stone flinging or anything else?
The armor set isn't that great either. Looks amazing, but not that great.

you can't capture Vaal, user.

>each carve is a chance for more gems
>people sill cap

Fucking

What makes you think that? They have a team of animators whose job it is is to do exactly that.

The game looks incredible. I've never played a MH game before, is this a good entry level game to the franchise?

You can carve Vaals fangs, and you're guaranteed a fang if you break its face.

>and you're guaranteed a fang if you break its face.
66%

I've gotten tons of gems from just capping. What are you even on about?

why do it when you already have the animations you can re-use?

>I know for a fact Vaal's fangs only come from carves
You are 100% right, user. Given he's an Elder Dragon and all

You have a higher chance for gems when you cap.

You got them from break rewards.

Is horn good now?

IMO Its actually the easiest one, go for it.

I don't know that to be true. According to the hunter notes you don't get gems from capture rewards. Plus, wouldn't carving provide at least 3 chances at a gem in addition to the chances in rewards or investigation slots?

Or just run investigations with golds.

How retarded are people that they still think you dont get gems from caps?

Pretty much got what I needed from him, got the final LS, Bow & now working on DB/Hammer just for shits and giggles. I’m wearing the coil because it looks like a wrestling belt but otherwise the armor doesn’t interest me.

Killed about 20 so far, caught about half that. It’s fun, he definitely makes me feel like a shitter again.

Yeah and I'm saying I think they had to because new engine. Maybe somebody who knows more about this shit will chime in.

Capping gives 5 rewards each time, and any of those can be a gem. Killing a monster is fundamentally inferior to capturing it.

>Playing around with the rarity 6 Jho HH
>Take off all armor, no skills
>Base attack is 903
>Use the new Self Improvement buff
>1037
>With Attack Up L it's 1231

Because gems are never in capture rewards in hunters notes, which I assume that's what the bottom table is.

Gems are 3% carve and 2% cap.

I'll trust kiranico over you idiots.

Are affinity augments good for Jho weapons or should I just do weakness exploit?

Here. Stop listening to people who keep spreading misinfo.
Fucking worldbabs saying the dumbest shit.

hunter notes don't list capture rewards, they only list carve and quest rewards. Capture reward table is identical to carve reward table though, so I guess technically they do list them, it's just not labeled.

Capped him 8 times and no gem.

Friend carved it after the first hunt.

Lifesteal for all augments. If it has 4 slots, 2 lifesteal 1 attack

I've capped before and gotten gems to, but are all those items all capture rewards? I thought there were different types of rewards which is why you could get it from capping, because it's not strictly a cap reward but a different type of reward.

I kinda wanna do a vampire life sucker build with my Vaal set, so maybe. Seems like it might be better with DB or SnS tho.

Monhun has always been on MT Frameworks

its not a cap reward

In my opinion, shoring up your weaknesses is a good idea. Especially since having the negative affinity is shit.

Lifesteal if you're shit I guess.

but it's not a new engine, they both use MT framework

Why did they butcher Jho's theme with this new shitty midi garbage? It's so fucking bad. Why would they waste a perfectly good, costly, fully-orchestrated theme with haphazard MIDI garbage? What the fuck was Capcom thinking?

The new roar is equally shitty and generic too, and his armor's disappointing in terms of stats this time around. His cutscene introduction was also equally terrible: throwing the handler into a comedy skit situation with pickle jokes when we're supposed to be facing a terrifying super-predator.

That and he feels far less difficult now, and it's not just a damage stat issue. The dragon breath has a shorter reach, his classic "pin-down and eat you alive" move is gone and replaced with Anjanath's shitty pin move instead, he doesn't throw nearly as many boulders as he used to and I don't think I've seen him eat his severed tail once after the 5 or so hunts I've had for him so far. If you're going to throw him in as a DLC monster when most of the day-one players have already reached end-game, then at least give them tempered Jhos to make up for it.

Granted, Jho is still a fun fight, but Capcom clearly dropped the ball with this one - especially when the monster has a reputation with veteran players and was overly-hyped by newfags as a result. Makes me concerned for the future monster updates.

I read like half of your post and the only thing I have to say is I think they wanted to make all the themes sort of dynamic so one could bleed into another without being so jarring.

Wouldn't you have to overhaul an engine going from portable development to console development?

Can you retards please shut the fuck up already

every reward you get tells you where it came from. In that pic user posted, it specifically tells you capture.

If your going to spend an augment slot on affinity, its only worth doing it once because of diminished returns. The first one gets you 10%, but the second is gonna get you only 5%, which would be worse than getting the lifesteal or the attack upgrade.

MT Frameworks has a mobile version, which is what the PSP and 3DS games used, it's easy to port stuff from the versions back and forth as you can see with 1>Portable, Dos>Portable 2nd, Tri>P3rd, 3U Wii U, and XX Switch

it's just a shame capcum didn't make console versions for 4G as well

and as a result, they don't feel unique anymore. They don't feel like they belong with the monster they are made for.

Jho's theme fit him perfectly, but now half the theme sounds like it belongs to a nakarkos or vaal hazak rip-off.

Teostra was the biggest casualty of this musical approach, and fuck, if they add Chameleos, I bet they add in brass and replace the piccolo parts with a violin.

Why? It's the same engine. The 3DS games used the LITE/mobile version that's all.

All I know is I was nowhere near this bootyblasted about any of that. Never cared about monster music or their intro cinematics though.

MT framework has different versions, but their assets are interchangable.

XX on switch actually uses literally the same version of the framework as World.

I just don't think the Lifestealing stuff is worth it. You shouldn't be getting hit enough for it to matter.

It depends. Like if you're running peak performance, which gets you +20 attack, the lifesteal can cover you from chip damage to keep the buff going.

twitter.com/TrueAkantoreX/status/976825962645073921

You can only get Deviljho Scalps from carving.

tranq and carves give they same drop rate for gem drops. ones not better than the other. this was already confirmed in the official guide that was released a few weeks ago in japan.

>You shouldn't be getting hit enough for it to matter.
Enough with this retarded mentality. I 100% know you don't dodge every single attack ever. Lifesteal keeps you from sheathing your weapon, which is extremely helpful.

I think the only weapon I'd put lifesteal on is Lance. Chip damage from counters adds up a lot, especially if you're using Power Guard, especially x2 if you're up against something like Tempered Nergigante, and Lance never wants to stop attacking.

jagrass has learned some new tricks

Too bad it's still fucking trashy MIDI garbage and completely unmemorable or un-intimidating as a result.

MIDI is just inferior to orchestra music in most cases. Hell even his new midi theme has no real rhythm going for it either; it misses most of the good parts of his classic theme on top of it, like the Psycho-esque violin screeches that happened during during the original theme's climax. It's just a downgrade in every single way and I seriously can't comprehend why they scrapped the original theme. Meanwhile the Bazel is the new invasion monster and it still manages to get an amazing and intense "static" orchestrated theme that really sets the tone of the fight and its invasion scenarios.

Just get good shitter.

did they add a new move to dodogama whose shoot the fireball to himself fucking you up if you are a melee... I dont remember him doing that before

If you're far enough in the game to have augments and you get hit you should probably just sheath and heal and not take a risk like that. It's cool for chip damage but relying on it to never sheath and heal up is asking for trouble.

>Teeheeehee, I never EVER get hit and wear bone armor only.
Look man, enough.

affinity augments are objectively better than anything else, even when you stack them. It averages out to be a higher % dps increase than flat attack augments. Attack would be better if you're affinity was already at 100%, which only ever happens under very specific conditions. The other augments are basically utility stuff that's personal preference.

Who are you quoting?

well fuck my reading comprehension

Post MH webms instead of shitposting.

Holy shit I never even thought about this and I main lance. Shame you'd have to give up damage buffs for it though.
