>JC, I brought you three guns, but I'm only going to give you one of them.
What was his fucking problem?
JC, I brought you three guns, but I'm only going to give you one of them
All you need is the GEP gun.
Maybe for story reasons JC could only take one because taking all 3 would to be cumbersome for his stealth mission.
he was in an overrated game that has aged like waterboarded cheese.
Stick with the Prod
>You can take a bulky missile launcher
>Can't take a rifle and a collapsible mini-crossbow.
Maybe you should try getting a job.
He didn't want you to get too tempted to shoot his buddies
unatco didn't want to issue too much hardware
>can get a mini-crossbow and sniper rifle off some terrorists in the same mission
>have to wait until LaGuardia to get the GEP gun should you skip getting it from Paul.
The shitpost classes are starting to look desperate.
He was using COKE.
Why is it that EVERY SINGLE TIME I'm about to start up a game, a thread for that game appears on Sup Forums? I mean a Deus Ex thread isn't that rare but it happens every fucking time even when I'm playing some obscure shit.
Even that doesn't matter, once you get the dragons tooth it's GG
Prod with the prod.
But then Paul is disappointed in you if you take the GEP gun
I can't let my brother down.
That and the GEP gun takes way too much inventory space for something I only use, like, twice
>Alright, I'm gonna do a non-lethal run! For real this time!
>get the Dragon's Tooth
It could be worse.
>Constant threads about some game, be it popular or obscure
>Start playing/replaying it
>Suddenly no more threads until you are finished with the game
What will happen if you and I both play the same game at once?
Pure coincidence
desperate
Do you have a single satisfact to snack that up?
I did not use the dragon tooth at all on my first playthrough. I just dropped it and kept using the shotgun to solve all my problems.
Hivemind. You are us and we are you.
What was JC's best one-liner, and why is it "That makes me one ugly son of a bitch"?
You've got 10 seconds to beat it before I add you the list of NSF casualties.
You're a stronger then the common man
You wouldn't happen to be Jesus would you?
>But then Paul is disappointed in you if you take the GEP gun
No he's not. He says "The GEP gun might be useful. They have a security bot on patrol near the Statue
entrance."
>Your turn
What are some books that you'd recommend to someone enjoyed DX's story?
Is the DX intro Sup Forums's version of the plane scene from TDKR?
I'm dumber than the common man. I just went "Why the hell would I want a melee weapon?"
If I'm gonna kill you you're already dead
there's too many
>A bomb's a bad choice for close-range combat.
>If I'm gonna kill you, you're already dead.
Before he hands a weapon over to you, he says "Manderley assigned me to hand you an additional weapon." So really, the question should be is, "What was Manderley's fucking problem?"
I'm surprised no one mentioned this.
Take a long look at Manderly's dead body, consider that my resignation
>Play this for the first time
>Get to lebedev's jet
>Don't kill Leb, Anna comes running into the room and just kills him when I leave
>Reload and put LAMS on the wall where she walks in just as a joke
>My fucking face when it actually kills her
That's when I knew this game was fucking amazing.
One fish
Two fish
Red fish
Blue fish
The Illuminatus! Trilogy
Last and First Men
Neuromancer
Man Who Was Thursday
you can literally hold all three of those weapons in your backpack
you have the taste of either someone very young or very fat.
Ha ha yeah Paul that's totally what I had in mind, thanks for the suggestion.
I'm sure a game that's as good as Dues Ex and scratches the same itch will eventually come along, but how far away from it do you think we are Sup Forums? 5 years? 10, 20?
i have to drop some things, heh heh heh...
>LAM the wall just enough that it won't kill her
>runs off like a bitch
>meet her back at UNATCO for boss fight
>360 LAM jump over her head and moonwalk out
Had myself a division, mind you, back when we were the Northwest Secessionist
Forces. Years ago. They thought they had us licked, like they think they have
licked us tonight, but -- lookit me, young sir! -- we're God's army, and what
infernal devil can stop God's army?
At worst it would devolve into a shitposting general, probably.
Neuromancer's plot has one big similarity with one of the endings. But it's quite more scifi-focused than Deus Ex, which is more about the conspiracy teories. Maybe one of the inspirations for the game's plot, like the Illuminatus trilogy? Also Foucalt's pendulum.
>You're gonna burn alright
>Maybe I'll cap his ass, too.
>Make it last. I killed homeboy out by the tracks.
>Just give me the LAM, punk
>DX obscure
What fantasy land do you live in?
"You're gonna buurn, all right."
You androids might have copper wiring to reroute you sense of pain, but I’ve got nerves of steel.
>finally get around to checking out Nihilum
>most voiceacting is passable
>except for the main character who is fucking awful
>to make things worse a lot of the dialogue is just REMEMBER DEUS EX?
>not even out of Kowloon yet and I'm already dreading/looking forward to seeing how bad it's gonna be
what's Nihilum
He wanted to give the other two to the NSF
shit that's probably true
>that lip smack
evritime
just keep a level head you're doing well so far
i played it last year
it was ok, i finished it and i dont do that for a lot of games
Deus Ex mod, total conversion, story is a prequel to the original where a terrorist attack in mainland China results in UNATCO sending a nano-augmented agent with a bad voice actor to Hong Kong to help the chinks figure out who did it and get 'em.
Too early in to give a good opinion on it. Level design seems solid enough, Kowloon (your first hub area) is decently sized and exploration is pretty rewarding. My main gripe right now is the writing, even The Nameless Mod knew when it needed to take things at least semi-seriously. I'm hoping that it will get better later on but good god is some of the dialogue just painful.
Case in point,
It really is bizarre how fucking awful writing in mods tends to be, specifically the writing, everything else will often be decent, but the writing just makes it shit
Might want to brush up on your reading comprehension
>a Deus Ex thread isn't that rare
>even when I'm playing some obscure shit
i.e. "I know Deus Ex isn't obscure, but it even happens with obscure stuff"
Don't worry ESL-kun you'll get there one day
Should i play Deus Ex with any mods?
I know there's a fan-remake but im not sure about it
>a 20 year old game hasn't aged amazingly
tell me a 20 year old game that's aged better
I liked Revision despite one really annoying fucking change that had me confused for hours, but GMDX is supposed to be the better overhaul mod
See:
pcgamingwiki.com
Everything listed under "Essential improvements" should be used for the best vanilla experience on a modern PC.
The exception is the graphics mods.
I'll do you one better.
Chess
If it's your first playthrough, no.
If you've played it before and want to tweak some things try Shifter.
/tg/ pls
So is Revision any good?
nah
If you haven't already, check out GMDX. It vastly improves the gameplay and most of the changes to vanilla levels are well done. My only real gripe with it is that stamina is fucking pointless since you don't exactly spend firefights in Deus Ex (especially on Realistic) running around like it's Doom or Quake.
If you just want something more vanilla, Shifter and Biomod are two smaller gameplay mods (the latter being a further modification of the former) that stay more faithful to the vanilla game. Makes the game more fun but also a bit easier (especially Shifter).
Revision is worth a playthrough if you did vanilla too many times and want to try something a bit different. It looks very pretty at times. Use the vanilla soundtrack if you do, the new one is too ambient.
If you're looking for total conversions, The Nameless Mod is the big motherfucker. It can feel circlejerky at times (being based on a forum and whatnot) but the gameplay and level design are fucking solid and it actually made me laugh a couple times.
>about to play X game for the first time, which total overhaul mods should I install
Why does this always fucking happen?
Why do people not just play vanilla?
I never asked for overhaul mods
Just some games need some essential fixes to fix some latent issues they might have
Then you should ignore anyone telling you to install mods like Revision, Shifter and GMDX
Some games haven't aged well and need some mods to be playable. While DX I'd say should be done vanilla first, anyone playing Fallout 1 for the first time should definitely use Fallout Fixt.
This. If you're doing your first run then flat out ignore that list of mods I put there. Leave that shit for when you replay the game.
Why contain it?
I stopped using guns when I got the chinese sword
Chess is unbalanced garbage, the player who goes first always has the advantage.
The DTS makes the game fucking boring. You just dump everything into sprint and jump augs and one shot basically everything. I got it on my first playthrough and quit at Ocean Lab because it got way too monotonous. Played it again half a year later and did a full non-lethal run and completed the game while having way more fun.
bug fixes and compatibility for modern OS patches are fine. Maybe even cut content patches (like for Fo2 and Kotor 2)
But I've yet to play any game that would have qualify as "aged poorly" that I needed to download a mod for it.
I wouldn't need any of them.
When I finish my first PC build in the next month, Deus Ex will be the first thing I play to break it in.
Such a great game.
Would a melee run without the DTS be more of fun or about the same, you feel?
Or what about if you don't use the speed aug?
it happens to me all the time as well user. many years ago i decided to play persona 3 for the first time and then literally everyone on the board got into it and i had the ending spoiled, despite there being absolutely 0 discussion prior to my picking it up
another time I decided to watch Monster as a friend recommended it to me, and after like 5 years of never ever seeing one thing related to it, someone spoiled the ending for me when i was like 10 episodes in
there are many other examples but those are the most notable for me anyway
nothing like breaking in a new pc with an 18 year old game.
Again, I was astonished by how little they saw me. From what people told me, they acted like actual people- they don't. If you move calmly enough, and wait- you can actually play the entirety of Deus Ex without killing anybody. It takes EXTREME patience.
The issue with the DTS is that it just makes every single encounter the same regardless of what you do. You don't have to think, you just run around at regular walking speed even and one shot everything you see.
I've seen someone explain this as basically once you start playing a game or get into the mindset of a certain game, you'll much more likely notice threads about it.
but that's the same case with all melee weapons with sufficiently leveled skill and combat strength aug.
Have you ever owned or wanted a specific type of vehicle?
It starts appearing everywhere.
>memorise every single possible move to counter that first one
Although I guess they could do it too. Rock, paper scissors then.
that's why melee weapons are shit
true.
But we can't pretend combat in Deus Ex is complicated or even that engaging.
Because a non-lethal takedown is always the most silent takedown.
it's the mole people
