Is this Half Life Kino?
Is this Half Life Kino?
>Half-life
>2018
Holy shit stop talking about this shit game. It isn't aged well at all. Just player it last week and couldn't finish it.
No its a good game.
Please elaborate as to why it didn't age well, otherwise you're just a moron.
Nostalgia kid.
The level design is not good on today standards. The shooting doesn't compare with today shooters. The audio mixing is not good at all, i couldn't listen to what people where saying because of this making the story of the game impossible to understand.
I just didn't find it fun to play.
No...
THIS IS
nice opinions you got there kiddo. the game is still very playable.
YOU
>kino
As for half life? No. It's pretty much aged like milk. The only thing good about this series was the mods.
My favourite Half-Life game to be honest.
Interesting different perspective of the original story with a bunch of new weapons + enemies. I also really enjoyed the boot camp for the tutorial.
Pls bring Adrian back.
SQUAD
Playable, yes. Playable and good? No.
MOVE IN
GO, RECON
CHECK IN
I just got banned on /biz/ for accidentally making a thread about this great game. Just finished it last night. Better than the first in many ways
kys
It is very good being blind from nostalgia isn't it? I wish i was like that as well.
I seriously just finished the game and thoroughly enjoyed it. AI is competent, gunplay is solid. The only thing that took away from the experience for me was getting stuck in the wall twice during a rope segment. The game honestly holds up spectacularly well check your taste. late 90s game aesthetic is comfy af
Oh and I'm playing Prey at the same time and honestly prefer this to a recent "modern" shooter. It's all taste bud
KABLAM
No because the dumbfuck ai keeps getting stuck.
Desert Eagle is always gun kino in games.
>nostalgia
yeah I'm nostalgic for a game I played for the first time 2 years ago.
>The level design is not good on today standards. The shooting doesn't compare with today shooters.
Okay, i'll bite. What modern games do you think have better level design and more satisfying shooting mechanics than Half-life?
>we will never get Half-Life 3 with Gordon + Adrian working together against the Combine, Xen and Race X
>That asshole is Adrian's brother
YOU FUCKED UP MY LORE
I could see somebody disliking the level design if they don't like first person platforming, but otherwise it's really good (amazing if you do like first person platforming).
I agree that the shooting sucks because of RNG bullet spray accuracy instead of CoD's "almost no recoil" or CS's "lots of recoil but you can control it with practice." I believe they did that on purpose to keep the marines alive longer when under the player's crosshairs, so that they may do more cool AI shit. The AI is interesting enough to justify it imo, not saying it hasn't been outdone but it is unique.
I thought the audio mixing was really cool, especially the way sounds echoed in metal tunnels, and the sounds of being hurt or your suit responding to you.
>we'll never see the dyson sphere in all it's source 2 glory
It's one of the finest shooters ever made, games don't age, you couldn't finish it because you're clearly retarded.
Underage b8
Recently finished HL1 for the umpteenth time. Still a brilliant game. Only played through HL2 once, wasn't nearly as good as 1.
>Not liking classic games
based
You didn't age well despite being born in 2009. Your points are bad. Wolfenstein 3D has obsolete level design, Half life has great levels with properly placed health and ammo. Modern shooter you think are superior have uninspired corridor design and boring weapons. Go back to playing battlefield or homefront
>(amazing if you do like first person platforming
I'll be honest, the game should have had the Long-Jump Pack since the first quarter of the game, it's hella fun.
I haven't played the expansions, does it get more use in those?
It's not canon
It's not even fucking licensed
>I agree that the shooting sucks because of RNG bullet spray accuracy
What in the actual fuck are you talking about? The only weapons in the game with high spread are the glock's alternate fire and the mp5 and only a complete brainlet would use either of those outside of close range. Every other weapon shoots exactly where you aim it.
But the fact that you're using Call Of Duty and Counter-Strike as a baseline for good shooting & satisfying shooting mechanics tells me that you've either never played a good fps in your life or you're underage.
Op4 was great , SP was solid and MP was top shelf with the w i d e weapon selection and great maps
good times were had.
Does the music play properly on the steam versions yet?
If you're talking about how the game used to reuse half-life's soundtrack instead of its own, then yeah it was fixed a while ago.
FPWP
So both games play their correct soundtracks ? Any chance they keep playing after a loading screen? Or is that too much to ask of valve?
>it isn't aged well at all
you haven't aged at all
Yeah both of them use the proper tracks (Opposing Force was pretty quiet for me the last time I played it though, even after maxing the audio volume.)
Not sure if they continue playing after loading but i'm 90% the answer is no unfortunately.
Half-life 1 = film
Opposing Force = movie
Half-life 2 and episodes = flicks
Blue Shift = Kino
I legitimately like it more than the base game, it's got a wider variety of enemies and guns packed into a smaller package. It's an expansion pack, and they were smart enough to design the encounters as such - the equivalent of the tentacle pit boss takes place within several adjacent rooms and only takes like 7 minutes, as opposed to 30. It was fun getting to fight with both soldiers and security guards, and it showed that not all the HECU were cartoon bad guys holding competitions over who killed the most scientists.
actually accurate
>Blue Shift
I'm pretty sure I finished it but I have absolutely no recollection of the story other than that you play as Barney, I don't remember if it even added any new weapons or enemies.
>this game is not good!
>why is it not good
>because it is not good!
I reinstalled HL 2 few days ago and man, those early levels aged like shit. Especially the canals. Also maybe its just me, but WTMB actually looks better than HL2.
>Just player it last week and couldn't finish it.
People will be playing and talking about Half Life ten years from now.
No one will remember Soywatch five years from now.
