what you're looking at here is a dev build for Super Smash Bros. on the Switch, or as it's actually called, Super Smash Bros. Strife.
you're gonna have to excuse "blurry tilted image #53019" over here. trust me when i say i'm well aware that's something that turns many many people off from leaks, but my only means of getting images of this is through using a 3DS camera.
now here's the thing with this dev build, even though this is clearly the title screen, it doesn't quite take you to the main menu like you'd think, but rather the debug menu, and while i haven't looked into it too much yet it already seems confusing as hell to navigate, unlike melee's.
you can call fake all you want, but i'm going to take a closer look into the debug menu to find anything of note, and maybe i'll get a nice long rundown on the roster for y'all if I can find the right stuff
also i'm tripcoding this bad boy so people dont try to fib and pose as me to give false info, that's a no-no
so like i said, after the title screen it takes you to the debug menu, and it's much more confusing than you'd think
i've been looking around it and it seems ive found a point of interest, the "simple end test" menu, which im assuming is supposed to test the classic mode ending movies for each character
here's the thing though, every character i've tried so far has simply crashed the game on a black screen, so i dont think very many of them, if not all of them have been implemented yet
but here's where it gets interesting, the "chara" modifier you see in the picture can be changed with the control stick to select a character to test, and there's a lot of entries, meaning it seems like just about every character in the roster is on this menu, so what I'm gonna do is some deep analyzing to see what's new, what remains and whats cut from smash 4
that is so incredibly easy to code an output for that you're a gigantic faggot without more than fuzzy picture proof literally take a video, you have a phone
Real talk, the days of Smash having a subtitle are over. There are only so many ways to say "battle" before you're scraping from the bottom of the thesaurus. People are just gonna call it Smash Bros. anyway, might as well start numbering them.
Same here, the months of constant speculation and shitty fake roster leaks competing for attention always ends up being tons of fun, same with Pokémon.

alright, Sup Forums, listen up. this is where we get into the nitty-gritty and what you've been waiting for.
i went through the "simple end test" menu to check every name to see what's new, what remains and what's cut, and i feel i might as well get the newcomers out of the way first
here's the thing, the entries for each character on the menu have their names in the data files, so for example: Wii Fit Trainer = wiifit, Dr. Mario = mariod, Jigglypuff = purin. this means that some of the names are a bit more vague than others, and i had to do a bit of guessing work, but most of them are probably correct
the new names not from smash 4 are as follows:
balloon - Balloon Fighter bandana - Bandana Dee bomber - Bomberman chibirobo - Chibi-Robo dsamus - Dark Samus funky - Funky Kong? (if so then this one is gonna rustle a lot of jimmies for k. rool and dixie fans) inkling - take a wild guess. junaiper - Had to search this one up when I saw it, Junaiper is the Japanese name for Decidueye. kinopiot - Kinopio is the Japanese name for Toad, but I'm not entirely sure what the "t" at the end is about. Captain Toad, probably? pmario - Paper Mario rayman - Rayman rhythm - Rhythm Heaven rep? No idea who it could be, cause I don't know much about that series. slippy - Most likely the Slippy from Star Fox. (yes, really) springman - Spring Man
just from listing all of those i can already tell there's gonna be a lot of peeps calling fake just because *insert character here* didn't get in and *insert other character* did, and honestly i would call fake if i was on the recieving end of this, but you're just going to have to face facts. people were calling fake on brawl roster leaks because of characters like ROB being included, we all know people like to grasp at straws
so with newcomers out of the way, i'm gonna move on to veterans in another post because this post is getting long enough as it is and im gonna reach the character limit

alright, so going off the last post it's time to look at the veteran side of things
looking through the names most of the characters from Smash 4's roster seem to remain, including DLC. however, there were three names I couldn't find from Smash 4 after looking through multiple times and they are as follows: cloud - Cloud kamui - Corrin pitb - Dark Pit
whether or not this means these characters were cut im not sure but i'll leave that for you to decide, personally me thinks it's cuts
lastly, were two names that weren't in Smash 4, but aren't newcomers either, meaning these characters returned from Brawl:
popo - Ice Climbers wolf - Wolf
and that's about all I was able to gather from this menu, so we likely now know the entire roster for this game. i'm gonna keep looking through the debug menu to see if I can find something that allows me to get into an actual fight
