I genuinely enjoyed my time with the alpha. It had the best looking world generation of any game like it. Finding new biomes was especially memorable because of how sprawling the world was.
That's an accurate assessment if you ignore all context surrounding this particular game

What money? Nobody fucking bought this shit. Sharing it was as easy as sending someone the exe and you could play together with no problem at all. Even my personal copy found it's way to like 7 to 10 people in my social circle, I would have to imagine the vast majority of people that played the alpha did not pay for it.
