Ancient Egypt is a cool setting.
The guy you play as, Bayek, is a bro. Up there with Ezio and Edward in terms of AC protagonists.
There's stealth in the game but you're not really an assassin. You're a medjay, just like Edward was more of a pirate than an assassin in Black Flag.
Combat is the best of any AC game. It's good fun. The ease of switching between your bow and melee weapons is great.
Same old Ubisoft world content, but because of the setting and the fun combat it's not so bad to do repetitive tasks.

It's a lovingly rendered setting with tons of stuff in it that must have taken a monumental effort to create.

At the same time, all that effort goes to waste in watered down stealth and parkour. The quests are rudimentary, and have no choice. The combat is fine, but the enemy variety is poor.

It's ironic that the game takes place in Egypt, because the game reminds me of a tomb. Tons of craftsmanship and care given to something devoid of life. I 100%'d the game still, because I have a problem, but I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

its good but its TOO FUCKING BIG. cut the map size in half and focus on quality over quantity and it would be a legit 9/10 game

not it's not. It's the part that was the most underwhelming. Honestly didn't even mind the missions but the close quarter combat is trash.

On one hand I agree with you but on the other I did like running around the world. It was nice to get an Egypt setting for once, its never really done and I think this game nailed it.

I went in expecting a shit tier more of the same ubishitgame. Was actually suprised when it turned out to be a legit good game. Had a lot of fun, it plays great and the world map is incredible. The writing is not quite there yet but some "chapters" of the game actually got me into the world most notably fayum, cyrene and letopolis.

For me black flag was a step in the right direction this one is the next step as it adds character progression and compelling sidequests, some of them are boring others are better. It has a subplot and a theme for each region where most of the sidequest follow a storyline. If the next one actually has a dialogue system and improve the writing on some quests it would actually be a top tier action rpg. The plot i found has some neat ideas but in some parts lacks in execution, black flga story suffered the same, the overall plot was honestly decent but save for some moments it wasnt all that well executed, still i think black flag had better story.

So i think is an improvement from black flag in gameplay but ultimately it comes down to which setting you prefer, egypt or pirates
