Nintendo has a huge Kirby bias despite the franchise not being successful enough to justify it. I guess they're cheap enough to make that it doesn't matter, and they're a way to fill out a console's library.

While I do feel we're now oversaturated in Kirby releases, it's better than the period of 2006-2011 where we got fr*ck all (besides remakes).

Kirby is developed by HAL, a company which isn't actually part of Nintendo. They just have a close relationship. HAL pushes him since it's their icon and biggest brand.

They used to co-develop some unrelated stuff for Nintendo before like Pokemon Stadium, Snap and Sim City SNES/64, but it makes sense they mostly focus on their own franchise nowadays.
