Bros, I need your help. I have hit that part of the year that I need to play through Oblivion again. What are some uncommon builds we can play?
I've done almost every build I can think of, spanning from melee to ranged to spells to melee spells to sneak to diplomat with 10 followers and way more.
Spec everything non-combat and play a scientist/archaeologist
Eli Cruz
why don’t you play a real rpg like morrowind
Jose Jackson
because there's nothing fun about missing roll to hit when you're literally stabbing someone in the chest?
Anthony Hill
not OP but I hate Morrowind with a passion and I played 30+ hours just so I can prove to myself it's not first impressions. Everything from the graphics to the interface to the combat to the static wikipedia entry NPCs to the ugly shit-colored overworld to the grinding monotonous guild quests sucks balls
Logan Jackson
How would a scientist/archaeologist progress through things? I need some sort of goal to strive for and I think finding every map icon is an achievable one in this build, just need to have a way to deal with enemies instead of running away.
Cooper Bennett
> rpg > morrowind
HAHAHAHAHA
Joshua Hernandez
being a scientist you would likely be alchemically skilled and possibly handy with a summon or two just be creative man
Carter Adams
to add to this, maybe you could make it your mission to independently obtain an elder scroll outside of the thieves guild questline?
Chase Jones
RP as a filthy, stinking disgusting elderly homeless man that breaks into citizens homes at night, briefly watches them sleep and steals everything. No armor, no clothes, no weapons. Only conjuration magic. You must kill every member of the thieves guild you come across
I'm replaying Morrowind at the moment and I want to move to Oblivion once I'm done. Morrowind I last played in the mid 2000s so I wanted something close to vanilla but my last Oblivion playthrough is more recent. I'd like a mod that removes level scaling, which one is the best ? So far I've found Oblivion Scaling Unclusterfucked which isn't done and OOO.
Dylan Lopez
Live in the woods and hunt deer, sell the hide and meat in a local town of your choice, find a house to live, live the comfy life
Matthew Hernandez
Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul is the default but there are some better ones if you do some digging
Ryder Garcia
Mods that "unscale" everything tend to add unesessary stuff and make things more difficult rather than "realistic"
I've played morrowind quit a bit and oblivion is my favorite and i can say that these mods dont do it right. In morrowind you will find enemies stronger than you buuut some of them can be taken down if you do things right, while in these oblivion mods you're pretty much a weakling that cannot possible overcome even a slightly stronger enemy so in reality, leaving the game as is and actually doing stuff right provides a more smooth gameplay.
>butt muh sponge enemies
It holds the same ground as morrowind's "lol miss" arguement. You just have to not suck. What mod i do recomment tho is this one which doesnt force you to do quests on higher levels for better rewards nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/39635
Thomas Peterson
Is the power difference that great with unscale mods ? I haven't tried them so it would be a shame if they were unbalanced but if it's closer to something like Morrowind I can live with it.
Juan Edwards
Is there even a way to do this?
I like this but I think I'd toss the Conjuration, does not seem like something the homeless could be capable of.
Hudson Ramirez
I've tried OOO and a few others which all of them do the following:
New enemies Stronger enemies have more HP and deal huge damage At least 3 enemies in the same spot
Combining all these into one makes one difficult experience since early one you have a shit weapon and chances are you venture into a cave or Aylied ruin to either find ghosts/something etherial which you cannot touch but they can destroy you with a few spell casts or custom npcs that can take you out with a few hits. Scaling enemies might seem to "video-game-ish" but it works well in oblivion, so long as you know what you're doing, exactly like every other TES game
Isaiah Bell
Is there anything for OOO that removes the absolutely retarded Spectral wolves and warriors? >those bloated health bars >immune to god knows how much bullshit >can't even loot them >best way to kill them is to just spend a hour watching them killing each other while you spam frenzy I enjoy OOO, and I wanted to use it but jesus christ I hated this shit so much.
while these mods are adjustable, they are all mostly the same, making things unessecarily hard for the sake of "not scaling with the player" while it actually is more like "I hope you have 100% damage/magic reflect" Also even if you can not include new enemies its all the same pain in the ass. A mod which makes an imp destroy you with 3 spells and tank your sword hits, its not a good mod.
Sebastian Martinez
I've been using Level Scaling Unclusterfucked, and I highly recommend it. OOO is bloated and adds too much stuff I didn't like. Scaling Unclusterfucked doesn't add any extras, just unscales enemies and loot so that exploring and adventuring is actually exciting.
Joseph Perez
While this user has a solid point about unscaling, remember that there is a difficulty slider and there is no shame in lowering it in the early levels and then adjusting it later once you actually gain a few levels and aquire decent loot.
It's a janky kind of fix, but Oblivion is a janky ass game and if you're not a fan of scaling making it feel like your character never gets stronger since bandits are constantly leveling with you and magically finding glass armor all over the place, I highly recommend a simple unscaling mod like Level Scaling Unclusterfucked.
Andrew Flores
Poison dagger, but try to always be invisible? Or maybe a touch only mage?
Nicholas Davis
Ranged stealth
Austin Hernandez
Find that changing the difficulty of the fly is kind of a pleb strategy, especially in a TES game. Starting with morrowind no TES game is actually difficult, the difficult part is understanding its mechanics and using them to the best of your abilities no matter what build you make.
Why not all three?
Evan Garcia
> there is no shame in lowering it in the early levels and then adjusting it later Or they could just level up before fighting enemies that shit on them and then bitch about there being no level scaling. Outside of the Spectral enemies, OOO is fine (unless you want to experience the game as vanilla as possible minus the scaling), slap on the mod that sets a fixed scale to quest rewards or the auto level scaler and you're good to go. I stayed away from OOO because of the all the complaints regarding Imps and such, but as soon as you level up a bit they're just as easy to kill as in vanilla.
I like both games but not sure why people are laughing at you when you say morrowind is a real rpg
Elijah Bell
>first time with OOO >roll Altmer >with apprentice sign >so much as a magical breeze hits me I die >go into dungeon with imps earlyish on >would just not give up because >Became a dodge fucking master and got though it after allot of pain
I have seen things which no waking eye may see
Joshua Green
and oblivions combat is somehow better? also, >judging RPGs based on their combat
Josiah Morris
Is a Personality build actually a thing? I'm reading how stacking PER will stop creatures and hostile mobs from attacking completely. Is this attainable without mods?
Christopher Lee
accoarding to uesp it is possible to attain so high disposition that enemies wont be hostile but its gonna need a lot of personality points, so maybe a mage with personality buffs and charm spells could work
Kevin Reyes
With just self enchanted gear I can get a bonus of 96 Personality, there's definitely items with more than 12 bonus to an attribute, especially Personality. Charm is exclusive to Personality disposition, so maybe with some work it'd be good but a whack as fuck beginning.
Dominic Gutierrez
You can certainly go past 100 personality, but you gonna have a rough start yes. Good luck anyway.
Kayden Torres
PUNCH MAGE
Unarmed, Athletics, Acrobatics, all the magical skills you need
You run around dressed like a hobo and punch everything with your magically enhanced hobo muscles.
John Nguyen
if you join the mythic dawn and dont complete the quest you get new combat dialogue. and they said this game doesnt have a voiced protagonist...
Aaron Wood
Also, pick up alteration to compensate the lack of armor with shield and absorb/reflect effects.
Nathaniel Bailey
What's a "real" RPG? I'm sincerely asking, because I want to play one.
Blake Baker
Chapel climber build.
Nathan Ward
Morrowind
Caleb Brooks
I’d be playing Oblivion to this day if it didn’t crash every 5 minutes for me.
I really wish Bethesda would remake it for the Fallout 4 engine.
Charles Walker
Oblivion VR when?
Logan Cox
Make your character a dark brotherhood assassin cause you know their cool and have big dicks and no one fucks with them
