ITT: Legitimately terrifying levels/enemies in non-horror games
scared of spiders, huh? you must secretly want to fuck them
>Bloodborne
>Non-horror
d-don't be silly..
Yes.
prove it
>bloodborne
>horror game
The game is literally set in a nightmare.
It has horror themes yea, but the game isn't in the horror genre
scary things in a horror themed game?
whoa, who would've guessed
The whole game isn't set in a nightmare.
>It's horror themed, not horror
I always forget it's there
>It's horror themed, not horror
why is that spider eating that hot animu grill? or is she braping on it?
Darkstalkers is horror themed, but it's not a horror game.
my peanus weenus
It's literally a Gothic Horror game that becomes a Cosmic Horror game. Just because it doesn't have jump scares or anything doesn't make it not horror.
First time I saw one of these motherfuckers.
Bloodborne is totally a horror game. It spooked the hell out of me in my first playthrough.
Ok sir, sorry for not having perfectly aligned views on what constitutes as a horror game with fucking wikipedia.
You don't play bloodborne to get scared tho, don't get me wrong, i love the aesthetic of bloodborne and it does a better job of being a horror game than most actual horror games, but if you had to pick one genre for it to be, you wouldn't pick horror
saying bloodbourne is horror is like saying left 4 dead 2 is horror.
Wait, people actually think Bloodborne is a horror game? What?
That scared the shit out of me.
I fap to Driders any opportunity.
>some jew says it's action role playing therefor it's undeniably action role playing!!
*roars*
Musume is the shittiest laziest implementation of Monsterfus.
>You don't play bloodborne to get scared tho
Generally speaking, the type of game that you play to get scared is typically trashy unity jumpscare simulators. There are exceptions of course but these things are usually very very low quality and and contain little to no gameplay past walking around looking for shit.
Genres are not that rigid and you should reconsider what a horror game is cause they need to be more than just cheap scares in order to be good games.
Oh I see, you're the cancer that's been killing the Souls series then. Saying that the best Souls game is the one that's not an Action RPG. Go fuck off back to your hole and never come out.
all of vermintide 2
>it has horror themes but the game isn't in the horror genre
Wtf, I love spiders now
Homophobia as a concept doesn't make sense to me.
Like they're not scared of you when they're beating you to death and even if how can you say you hate them then, if them wanting to murder you is an irrational fear, you should accept them and leave them alone.
see the game isn't primarily a horror game. If bloodborne is a horror game so is Dark Souls 3
No it's not don't be daft.
It is legitimately scary your first time through. Did you watch a walkthrough or did you play it blind?
So Castlevania is a horror game then?
You fight vampires and werewolves, ergo it's a horror game.
Left 4 Dead 2 and Resident Evil 5 are horror games because they have zombies and that's scary
Couldn't be more wrong the whole reason I'm scared of spiders is because one bit me in the dick.
Actually this. If every Lovecraft MC carried a gun and a two-foot saw on a stick, was immortal, and could use magic, none of his stuff would be remotely considered horror
Can you stop making false analogies for a second you fucking morons?
Bloodborne isn't a "survival horror game", it's a "horror-themed ARPG."
I guess both could be "horror games"
It's a perfect fucking analogy.
Bloodborne is no more a horror game than Castlevania is, so the multiple incredulous responses to that earlier post were unwarranted. A game needs more than just a few spooky elements to become a 'horror game'.
yeah, my favourite horror game is dracula pinball
source
And yet somehow RE4 is a horror game
*flash bomb*
*kill in one cycle because le glass cannon meme*
By far the scariest enemy in Bloodborne outside of specific phobias.
>A game needs more than just a few spooky elements to become a 'horror game'.
Such as?
It's false because Castlevania isn't scary and it's not intended to be scary while bloodborne is pretty much as scary as a game of its kind can be. The intention is there regardless of whether it worked on you or that other guy or whoever the fuck.
>a separate dimension that you can go to
>they used the word "Nightmare" as it's name, so it's literally a fucking nightmare
I'm not scared of gays, they just make me irrationally uncomfortable to the point where I need to avoid them completely or react violently when I encounter them. That's not what a phobia is.
The Library was much scarier (the first time around at least before you learn you can easily sprint through everything)
The librarians in the books are also way more terrifying than the game
How are they different in the books compared to the game versions?
>That's not what a phobia is.
Not sure if you're joking seeing as that's pretty much exactly what a phobia is.
I really can't tell anymore on this board, please be joking.
Darkstalkers is monster themed, not horror themed. That's like saying Street Fighter is a Nazi themed game.
Wait, I thought Sup Forums's whole purpose was logical fallacies on parade?
The Void had some creepy fucking designs all right
It's hinted in the book that they're really intelligent. One of the characters knocks on a door in the library as a joke and a librarian knocks back.
Also, when artyom comes back after hearing his comrade, he learns it was actually a librarian with its hand in the still living guys stomach and it was imitating his moans.
>drider with human butt
FFS
Games with horror themes are horror
Not survival horror but it's horror themed
broken home quest in runescape
>irrationally uncomfortable
Most of them got a pretty rational uncomfort around
RE was never a horror.
>RE1 defined the survival horror genre
>RE was never horror
The moray eels from AC Black flag
You have to be so stupid to be scared on bloodborne or any souls game, your character is just so strong and the enemies are all vulnerable.
Stop samefagging so blatantly.
horror is about disturbing you, not scaring you
>An intense feeling of fear, shock, or disgust.
>Intense dismay.
>A literary or film genre concerned with arousing feelings of horror.
brainlet
No, what are you fucking stupid? How can something be two things at once?? Why would a game having horror themes and elements story wise but action rpg elements gameplay wise mean it's two different things at once?!
My small pea sized brain can't comprehend this revolutionary idea.
All right you dumb fuck.
You have to be so stupid to feel fear, shock, disgust or intense dismay on bloodborne or any souls game. Your character is just so strong and the enemies are all vulnerable.
Its an action game, nothing more than this.
It got me when I was younger anyhow.
Wanna know how I can tell you're underage?
It also imitates his speech.
I think you're just too stupid to experience the ellipsism and cosmic horror soulsborne games evoke so well.
It's not about what you can see and hit with your fighty stick, but what you can't and will never see, what is only implied.
Except it doesn't, you always feel like you can bring down anything the game throws at you.
Dark souls 1 had some moments when you enter Anor Londo, but it quickly fades away.
Was Mario64 a horror themed game?
Thanks for illustrating your posts. Have a nice day.
>Except it doesn't, you always feel like you can bring down anything the game throws at you.
Yeah I bet you were completely calm and composed when you got grabbed by an amygdala for the first time.
Especially since you'd seen it before in youtube or something.
>if the game doesn't take my guns and doesn't throw a jumpscare at me every 5 minutes, it can't be scary
your brain on outlast, kids
>it doesn't have jump scares
all those townsfolk jumping at you from around corners in the beginning would like to have a word with you
The librarians in the game are tedious instant-death teleporting obstacles that just require you to look at them for 30 seconds until they leave and reappear a few seconds later.
