Picked this up last night and really enjoying it solo.
Super fun to manage my ship and do quests.

Found a bunch of islands saying I need keys or some item to access some part of it so I am excited for progression.

Likely GOTY already.

Did you find the key for kraken watchtower yet?
I was looking for it for like an 2 hours last night. I am guessing I have to do some quest chain to unlock it.

As in, a fort key? They're randomly scattered on various islands, kind of hidden away. Look among wreckage, camps, in pots and boxes, within caves.

It's a mix of luck and awareness finding them. They're bluish-gray skull tablets and have glowing green eyes.

You can get it for free right now and cancel the sub before it's up. Try it while it's hot and maybe revisit it after some content patches.

Pretty sure you need game pass to be able to play it. I can’t just sub download it and unsub

I'm quite enjoying it. The only complaint I have right now is that the progression is purely cosmetic so gold doesn't have a value. They should take queues from Pirates and let you use gold to upgrade your ship and get equipment that makes an actual impact. It doesn't even have to be an upgrade, a sidegrade is fine too

This sounds like lies, all sloops get hunted down and there's no way you could defend yourself alone.

I would've improved the game by adding more story quests, unique puzzle dungeons on numerous islands, more enemies and weapons, bounties to hunt down pirates, in depth ship building/customization like nuts n bolts, and ai crew that you can hire and keep happy like mount and blade

Skeleton infested fortresses have a boss. I'll bet the boss drops a key for his fortress but expect a lot of NPC and player resistance.

I'm loving it, but they need to add more content fast and they need to fix ship spawning. I hate that I can sink a galleon and it's back up my ass and restocked before I've had time to see what they dropped.

Ya this is my main issue. Death is meaningless and respawn is so quick that battles almost never end. If 3-4 ships got in a FFA fight you'd have people just respawning back into it forever.

I really enjoyed that aspect of No Mans Sky. I thought it was a great game. Really let you just explore and make the universe whatever you wanted it to be.
