Do you remember, friend?
>Finding COD 4 and CS:S Zombie maps.

early steam was shit
actually its still shit
No you fucking don't. Steam is 100000x times today than it was back then.
>disk space required
>180 MB
this is the thing I miss the most
Wtf wasn't even that long ago
Man, what a sad death that was. I used it from 04 to ~2012 or 13. Christ.
fuck me buzi
I fucking remember buying HL2+HL1, getting home and installing steam only to discover the key was already in use. It took WHSmith fucking ages to get me a new game for some stupid reason.
HL2 is one of the most overrated games ever btw
What the fuck am I even looking at?
remember me
Steam was absolute shit back then
I wonder what all those people are doing now. I hope they're happy.
Still the best IM sounds to date
steam in 04 was fucking garbage though. 2009 was when it actually started improving.
not really other than the skin and occasional vc++ crash window
>tfw installing it to play cs 1.6 beta
>tfw downloading 500MB bink videos of half-life 2
I try to distance myself as much as I can from nostalgia and constantly remind of the things that sucks.
Like having limited storage, shitty internet, shitty cpus.
Everything before Core 2 Duo was awful god damnit.
But the thing that sucks that most, even today is that there is still no conclusion to
fpbp
I used Pidgin.
>tfw had to send a check in the mail to register kali
people went absolute nuts whenever a new messenger beta was released or rumored to be
Literal grandad
NO STOP
At least most of the mods I cared about are still hosted somewhere...
>Battlefield Vietman ost slowly playing
Oh damn, Hey Clip by tasha.
I fapped to that over ten years ago. Wild.
fuck it felt so much easier to find friends back then
did the times changed or did I
>join a shitter server
>play as the fast fucker
>first place in minutes
>people cheer
The first and last time ever anyone aknowledged my gaming skill
take off your nostalgia goggles that's a fucking ugly UI
>obnoxious broken piece of shit saga
>aesthetic as fuck with only like 3 games saga
>basically exists to play cool mods saga
>golden age of pc gaming saga
>shovelware saga
>dumping ground of vile shit saga
>GIVE ME YOUR DATA saga
>ad-ridden bloatware of unending scam shovelware and data mining saga
What's next?

>We will never get unique layouts like this ever again
Most of them were amateur garbage, but I strangely miss them
>them kitsch ass widgets
Strangely comfy. Everything is too minimalistic now
2010 was 28 years ago.
>winamp
>nero burning rom
Not only that but they had more actual content than most games today that take up 100 gigs.
Thanks graphicsfags.
>early 2000s GUI
God I miss it.
remember when the average gamer wasnt too stupid to find a server?
>r@ygold
>wanting to go back to old Steam
why
>Full screen WMP with G-force
So before Steam?
Valve is cancer and always has been
fpbp
This, Valve didn't "save" PC gaming, it was fine without them. None of my favorite games require Steam
Mods!
>no Sup Forums
Even better. Sup Forums is the reason this site is swarming with redditors now
Pretty sure Reddit is the reason this site is swarming with redditors...
This pretty much.
>made my first e-girlfriend on xfire
>also I wanted to be one of those fucks with thousands of hours on a single game
>left melty blood act cadenza running in the background while watching one piece and naruto
>one time this cutie pie from canada asks me if I won any tournaments on it
>"wut??"
>turns out there was a multiplayer patch for it
>install it
>get into a chat with others who play it online
>cutie says "hey guys user has like a thousand hours on it, I bet no one here can beat him"
>I didnt even play it that much on single player
Needless to say, I deleted her and made a new account to boot.
But damn do I miss xfire.
since there's no windows thread up this seems like the next best thing, anyone know why this window suddenly pop'ed up using windows 7 on a dell inspiration laptop from 07
>50gb hard drives
nope, I don't miss those days
your hard drive is fucked
delete system32

This explains so much.

I hated being a kid.
fucking this, fuck greedy kike developers not just letting us manage ourselves
i miss this shit.
just remember this when you see stories about devs coming together to ban "toxic players" from their games, they are literally fighting against a problem they caused themselves
>bsplayer
>alcohol 120%
>soldat
>flashget
TAKE ME BACK
Can you even tune into the radio anymore on XP or VII?
I remember playing Super Street Fighter 2 TURBO on DOS and being too dumb to remember how to boot it - my dad wrote the commands on the paper CD sleeve and I could still barely manage to boot it up.
Shit was magical.
SOLDAT
Finding cracked servers you mean
I thought I was going crazy because this shit happened to me. In the 2000s, it was hard not to make internet friends. Now, everything's been so centralized and homogenized that it's impossible to meet people.
>that image
I remember downloading that years back & never being able to beat the final boss
Because back then every server had its own unique community. People who liked the same gamemodes/maps/rules would join the same servers making it easy to find friends. Not like it is today with matchmaking where everybody is thrown into official servers and you can't get to know people because servers shutdown right after the game ends.
Last panel is wrong, the brainwashed Valve drone would still say paise le gaben and muh wallet xD
True, but it was even more than that. I was able to find boatloads of random people through AIM messenger, and I could always find fun people who shared my interests through forums. Now everything's just reddit.
I dont
old youtube was pretty great, actually showed when someone uploaded a new video
I still can't find an old kung-fu video some guys made for high school it had everybody was "kung-fu fighting" to go along with it
I need to die
>Not just owning up to your crime like a man
>going back to before steam existed would be ideal
PC gaming would be dead. whats left for game aggregators? Origin, Tancent's Steam, GOG, Uplay? LOL
Check this out, these were the games I had on my PC when I was 14 or 15.
You are all like little babies to me.
I miss gamearena
I don't know what possessed Telstra to shut down one of their best services (as well as a few other minor things) right as they started to lose their monopoly. Wouldn't logic dictate you start to improve your services in that situation.
If we didn't have graphicsfags we could have games with hundreds of enemies on screen at once. All I wanted from the Bayo 2 mech was a chance to open the guns up on a small army of weaker angels. Hope we get a chance in Bayo 3.
