When was the last time you genuinely looked forward to a game by Rare

I was genuinely looking forward to Sea of Thieves, the sailing and ship combat is great but its so disappointing that there is only maybe 3 hours worth of content put on repeat.

>When was the last time you genuinely looked forward to a game by Rare
2008, when they were remaking GoldenEye but then the fuckheads at Nintendo had to go and ruin everything.

thyre' both shit

Isn’t a way out just Heavy rain with online co-op?

Isn't Sea of Thieves selling really, really well, though? It's GaaS so they're gonna gradually expand and adjust the game in response to player feedback.

Thats giving Heavy Rain too much credit.

but is it unintentionally hilarious like heavy rain too?

Hard to say when so many people are probably using the game pass free trial for the game.

>release sea of thieves beta literally less than a month before release
>complaints everywhere
>literally impossible to fix all changes
>gets released as pile of shit

I am so fucking tired of companies treating betas like a fucking free trial instead of a fucking beta. Jesus fuck its so stupid.

>Nu Rare is only Rare in name and is made out of people whose entire careers consist of Kinect Sports titles
>Old Rare have all lost their touch and think making a N64 game in the unity engine without any of the improvements to the genre that happened in the last 20 years is fine
Banjo and Conker were technical marvels for their time but they couldn't even be bothered to give Yooka Laylee its own engine.

I'm glad a moron like you doesn't run a video game company.

Let's use our time to make a product to a niche market with a very small budget and make a fucking game engine!

Jesus fuck get tested moron. Or at least understand a little about game development.

>but is it unintentionally hilarious like heavy rain too?
Is fucking with your c-op partner real time cut scene that suppose to be dramatic and serious counts?

>niche market
>all of that extra money they made that they probably pocketed
>just to asset flip

>real time co-op cutscenes
holy shit based wiseau when is the sale

Yet sea of theives is being played more on twitch than a way out.

NO really get tested you stupid shit. You think game making is cheap? Might be if you live in Poland maybe.

Designing game engines is the most costly time consuming part of development. And can take 3 times as long as making a game. When Sega makes a new sonic game they at least use the engine for 4 to 5 games before masking a new one.

You think this group of americans with a few million is able to fucking use their time to make a game engine?

You are one stupid fuck.

>if you don't code your own engine you're making an assetflip game
go to bed

>kickstarter.com/projects/playtonic/yooka-laylee-a-3d-platformer-rare-vival
>ended up making around 2mil from kickstarter which was way passed their original goal
>they had to make up extra goals after this
>game came out uninspired and shit with unity assets all over the place

>kickstarter.com/projects/jonaskaerlev/a-hat-in-time-3d-collect-a-thon-platformer
>didn't even hit 300k
>made a much better game, granted some flaws
>better received by everyone while also being on unity
Yooka-Laylee was shit and they couldn't even at least give it its own engine for movement yet A Hat In Time did the same and still came out good.

it's popular so it must be good
