How long does a $60 game need to be?

I can beat Mega Man X in 40 minutes but I've probably played it a total of 1000+ hours

At least the double digits.

10 hours for main story bare minimum

Not shorter than its $40 predecessor.

60 minutes. $1 for every minute spent.

60 seconds. $1 for every second spent.

Was going to post this.

It's not just a question of how long, but how replayable.

With good boxart I'd stick a $40-$50 game on a shelf, case, or something. It has to look good though.
So not that garbage.

That's a trick question. These days, I can beat a game like Vectorman in under an hour, but when I bought it, it was $70.

In the 22+ years since I've bought it, I've easily played hundreds of hours.

More than any length, I want a game to be replayable. Difficulty helps, but it isn't the end all be all of replayability. I mean, the original Kirby is barely forty minutes of play, but I've played it over a hundred times because it's always fun.

what comes after getting 100% on all the puzzle pieces, and how do I unlock more difficulty in the boss rush mode? I'm only at 5

6-8h, anything more than that is most likely copy and past content. then again, normies prefer quantity over quality

The issue here is that Star Allies is one of the least replayable Kirby games due to the dull-as-dishwater stage design. I finished it in a weekend and I don't think I could bring myself to dredge through those levels a third fucking time

I disagree. I love experimenting with the allies in the arena and guest star.

So far I've played through it twice, about ten hours total. Both times have been with friends and relatives, and I had a great time each time.

My hope is that this is a game I'll come back to multiple times over the years. I don't mind putting it back on the shelf for a while.

I can understand someone of limited means not feeling that it justifies its price tag, though. I generally don't like thinking of games in terms of $/hr, though. As an example, I had a much better time playing say, Ghost Trick (15 hours?) than I did playing Pokemon X (45 hours).

>I generally don't like thinking of games in terms of $/hr, though

Oh, I definitely agree. I just don't think Star Allies is a particularly great game. But if you had fun with friends then more power to you

Well, what's the avg?

One of the greatest games I bought at full price. 4-7 hours tops 100%.

I have a four year old niece, so it's been an absolute delight playing it with her, my brother, and his wife. I really feel like that's what the game was made for. Apart from the four year old, we're all in our 30s. Star Allies is like a love letter to the franchise in a lot of ways. I agree that the level design should be more adventurous, but anyone knocking the length I feel like I need to question why they've ever enjoyed a Kirby game ever.

40 at the very least.

My fucking nigga, you have an awesome taste. Jungle Beat might not be perfect, but goddamn did I have a lot of fun with it and making insane combos back in the day... It's been just 13 years since I got it as a birthday gift

Jesus H Christ. The only game I played to the thousands was Melee.

For a kirby game not long. Unless this is your first kirby game, you should know how short they are.
