There's a bit where L tries to play a word game with a Manon and it doesn't work right because the rhyming isn't the same in their native languages.

As an aside, L is actually speaking English which he taught himself by having access to a lifehold piece.
This is why he speaks oddly, as the planet translation doesn't do broken English -> normal English

Nopons aren't speaking English at all, Mira is just directly translating everything they say to English and everything humans say to Noponese. The only alien beings on Mira that ACTUALLY speak English are L and Elma

My theory (purely speculative, based on the fact that the story of Shulk and the Monado is passed down through Miran Nopon culture) is that X takes place in the new universe created by Shulk. When Shulk recreated the universe, it started back from "0", aka Big Bang, and slowly developed back to a time similar as the one we live in now/Klaus lived in when he did his experiment, meaning it had a "new" Planet Earth with a "new" humanity and what not, even though the entire universe is intrinsinctly different from Klaus' because this universe has precursor races (survivors of the previous universe, basically everyone from Bionis and Mechonis) that KNEW (through Shulk and maybe Alvis) of Klaus, what he did to HIS universe, the Conduit (Zohar)'s arrival and all that.

So my theory is that the reason the Ghosts and Samaar Federation warred over Earth is that they knew the Zohar manifested itself there at about that time in the previous universe and they wanted to intercept it for themselves and/or prevent another case of Zanza blowing up the universe by eliminating Earth and humanity from the equation entirely

I never implied they did. But they do clearly speak the same language as the homs/humans and blades. And some Tirkin. Those worlds don't have the auto-translate feature that Mira has.

In XC all Bionis and Mechonis languages are derivative of the language of the Gods (which were humans from "our" universe, so human languages like English, and maybe German and Japanese (because Zanza is a weeb and possibly of German decent))

In XC2, all cultures (including Nopon culture) is based on shit passed down from the time people lived alongside the Architect (Klaus) or stuff salvaged from ancient civilizations (the ruins of humanity). Furthermore, at one point, Nopons talked in normal no-nonsense everyday English like the rest of Alrest, but one of their influential leader started a trend of speaking Retardese to capitalize on Nopons' innate cuteness to further lower every other race's guard around them and better fuck them over in mercantile manners. The trend caught on and worked so well that nowadays every Nopon just speaks as a retard from birth

XCX is the only time where Nopons are an entirely alien species that never lived among humans or descendants/creations of humans and never interacted with human culture before the White Whale crashlanded on Mira (that is, IF the XCX Nopons don't turn out to be descendants of the XC1 Nopons, which MIGHT be the case considering they have legends about Shulk's deeds, the Monado and Frontier Village and know of Hom Homs)
