Can somebody explain me where did this "Valenwood Confirmed" meme started, it is just primarily a Reddit thing? Bethesda doesn't like to put any effort into developing video games and such a setting with big trees would require a new gameplay mechanic that ties into it.
It's already obvious the next game will take place in Hammerfell as how easy it would be to pull off both on mechanical and designer level.
>a setting with big trees would require a new gameplay mechanic that ties into it. A setting with a tropical jungle would require a new gameplay mechanic that ties into it.
It's because of the leaked photo (pic related) from a Bethesda E3 script that had "project Greenheart" written on it. The script was never confirmed to be real though.
>Big trees - would require a jumping mechanic in the likes of mirrors edge/assassins creed to get around wild wilderness as well an overhaul in archery as that's what the natives in Valenwood are proficient at
>tropical jungles - you are still on mainland, just focus on combat
I don't think you understood my point. There's a solid precedent Bethesda butchering settings for the sake of convenience. If they don't want to include big trees, then they simply won't include them.

Except we already got Fallout 4, set in Boston, with an expansion named Nuka World.
Shit's real.

My TES folder has about 300 images now and i'm not sure what's fanart and what's not any more. But if i remember correctly all of the ones i posted are fanart except for which is concept art for ESO.
It's all eso art, aside from , which is from Lady N's (very dead) Hammerfell project.
Nathan Stewart
Even if it's not Valenwood, I assume TES6 will be set somewhere in the Dominion.
They spent so much time talking about the Thalmor in Skyrim it seems like it'd pretty much have to be setting up a sequel.
David Foster
its fake, they are just gonna keep working on the skyrim mmo, to them until the mmo stops giving profit they will sotp

Because the only viable options are;
Valenwood: Cool forrest fantasy setting, awesome Wood elfs and High elf invasion to build opon Hammerfell: Mountains, grasslands and deserts, pretty cool setting Black Marsh: Fucking wartorn bog with refugee argonians everywhere. High rock: Weird map design and too small
I seriously don't think that it's such a smart move to do it in Hammerfell for the sole reason that almost every NPC will be black. Maybe if they combine it with High Rock. Same for black marsh, people won't want Argonians everywhere and there's no real cool cities or establishments there either.
Personally I want Valenwood and a bit of Elsweyr.

>tfw ESO's exploration and environments are god-tier but everything else about it is so goddamn generic and MMO-y
That screenshot is actually from the Skyrim engine. There's a team of modders who are recreating Oblivion with better landscaping in the Skyrim engine.
I have always wished for a somerset isles TES game, but I doubt I'll get it. Especially with that region being the new eso expansion. No way they'd have two somerset games come out that close to one another. I wish eso was as fun as TES, but I just isn't to me. Feels bad.
Every fucking AAA game this gen has been forest and rocks as the setting. Every one looks the same, because they all use the same style and techniques to render trees and stone. Every game has 75% of its area that looks like that forest level in Killzone Shadowfall.
So expect the next ES to be set in a forest. With rocks/cliffs

>New Elder Scrolls game announced >"Hey you hear about the new Skyrim coming out?"
it is really just presocratic cosmology, set in a fantasy world nothing too mind blowing. it is done well and consistently which is what makes it great.

Aetherius is what encompasses all of the different realms that exist in the elder scrolls universe. Inside it you can find Nirn, the plane of the mortals but also the different realms of oblivion belonging to the Daedric princes.
There are holes in the veil between the mortal realm and Aetherius which lets highly magical light from atherius shine through to Nirn. The biggest of these Holes is what we know as the sun. It was the hole that Magnus, the architect tore in the veil when he left Nirn for Aetherius.
That's Nerevar on the right correct? Does that mean it's dagoth ur on the left or is that some dwemer dude like kagrenac?
Kayden Carter
It's the leader of the Morrowind Dwemer, a Mer named Dumac. He was a close friend of the Nerevar and the peace they brokered between the two races stopped what had been generations of invasions from Nordic Tongues who use to frequently raid the province.
Jacob Martinez
Yeah, Nerevars on the right and Dumac dwarf king is on the left.
>Aetherius is what encompasses all of the different realms that exist in the elder scrolls universe I can see that in the stupid image. But what is it? What is veil? The image implies it's not just some kind of hypothetical etherial border, but a physical object of sorts.
the leak was before even fallout 4 was announced if i remember right it was definitely before the dlcs were announced
Matthew Ramirez
I'm surprised they haven't released Fallout 3 Remastered yet.
Sebastian Bell
Anu and Padomay are upside down. Padomay should be on top and thus having the greatest affect on the northern hemisphere (Atmora and the realms of Men) while Anu should be on the bottom maintaining the southern hemisphere (Aldmeris and the realms of the Mer)
Oliver Thompson
I'd bet a decent amount of money that it's gonna be in Akavir.
That way they can do whatever the fuck they want and not give two shits about the lore.
Nicholas Wright
Not really known what the veil is made of or exactly how it works but i'd like to think of it as the real world multi-verse theory or something like that.
On the outisde of Aetherius you can see the three signs of the warrior, the thief and the mage. When these three act in a certain way it's considered an important concept called the enantiomorph.
In the Enantiomorph, the Warrior is the king, the thief is the rebel and the mage is the observer. When the thief rebels against the king and the mage acts as an observer weird shit happens.
It's all connected back to the creation of the dream and the aurbis.
For example, see this pic Talos achieved divinity by accidentally (or purposefully) re-enacting the enantiomorph.
>it ties well together with the elves loving stasis while the men want change.
Don't elves literally want to end the world
Jason Young
if they ported fallout 3 to their latest version of the engine i would definitely think about buying it.
Luke Edwards
Not that user. Aetherius is basically a realm of PURE magic ruled or lead by Magnus. It is basically like the realm of magic. The stars and the sun are not balls of fire like in the real world. They are holes in the fabric of the universe that lead to Aetherius. These holes were made by Magnus and his followers when escaping the creation of Mundus because it was absorbing their powers. The 8 divines were tricked by Lorkhan when they agreed to create Mundus and thus binded the 8 divines to the realm. They punished Lorkhan to death by tearing his body into 2 pieces, creating the 2 moons you see in the sky. His heart could not be destroyed and the heart laughed at the 8 divines, so Auri-el launched it into the ocean with his bow. The heart then created Vvardenfell and a volcano grew around the heart.
Gavin Harris
Yeah, you're right. But they want to de-activate the towers to be one with what they believe to be their godly ancestors.
They view Lorkhans trickery in creating mundus is a disservice and that it broke the stasis of just "existing" in the void.
Men on the other hand, view Lorkhans offering as a service for them to find out about the wheel, seek greater insight and eventually mantle the amaranth to make the dream continue.
TALOS essentially mantled Lorkhan and took his place, why do you think the elves want to stop his worship?
They want to do so because they believe it will return to the original state of how their existence was before the creation of the world. Where they had the power to mold their surroundings to their desires but everything was stagnant and nothing new happened.

wtf I love Redgaurds now
Eli Brooks
Has anybody seen any market analyses regarding the following? Hammerfell and the Redguard have real-world visual and thematic connections to Middle Eastern and North African cultures and history. At this point in western society, and accelerating at an exponential rate, there's a notable fatigue growing among the world populations. People in Europe are crippled by an ongoing migrant crisis, and there's an increased craving for local national histories and traditions in response. Likewise, there's a growing disinterest (and even dislike) for such foreign cultures that bring perceivable negative associations.
In the US, there's a very strong anti-SJW culture, especially among the younger generation, all of whom are the target audience. I would imagine, whether fairly or not, that a "majority Redguard in an arid setting" game would receive overt ridicule from enough people, to where it might derail the game promotion and release. Among the less politically engaged, a lukewarm response to the setting itself, based on those external factors - and simply finding that the possibility for escapism and immersion be curtailed by the pressing issues of a real world social upheaval. This isn't my opinion or personal prediction, just market speculation.
I wonder if Bethesda would be much better off creating a place like Valenwood or Black Marsh, because they're more clearly removed from our reality. Much less political baggage, and as a result, appealing to a wider international audience.
Likewise, a trip to Valenwood or Black Marsh would positively address accusations of laziness or dumbing down of the Elder Scrolls series, because they'd necessarily require some new game mechanics in order to allow players to traverse the hostile terrains. In this case, I wonder if thinking out of the box instead of going the easy route ("Skyrim 2, except desert now") would inspire much stronger audience interest and enthusiasm, and even brand rejuvenation.

I can't wait for the mods that let me play a small, cute nord boi and get captured by amazon tree elves. Then to get taken back to the treehouse village and handed around like some whore as they mount my tiny cock and their sweaty legs wrap round my small pelvis as they hump me like thirsty aninals.
