Final Fantasy is (was?) one of the biggest gaming franchises and debuted on Nintendo, but it just happens that Cloud is part of the most remembered entry of the series.
Bayonetta has been officially published by Nintendo since 2. But if I'm not mistaken they basically own the franchise now.
I can't think of anything about Snake except that before Brawl there were MGS titles for the GameCube and that Kojima is a meme industry figure that knew Sakurai.

Don't have anything on hand but I remember that it sold well over there and they got some NES nostalgia out of him, he got a pretty good japanese translation aswell as far as I know.
