It's really not that complicated. The tree looks big but really, all you need is to pick up a shitton of HP, some damage and a keystone or two to compliment your skills.
Looking up builds is the easiest way to get a basic understanding of this.

Have you looked at streams or something? Maybe a skill that looked fun? You have to keep in mind that you will be slow as shit compared to those streams until you reach endgame.

You can try a forum guide, but they only help to a point. Game is hard to get into. Getting to endgame is superhard.

Its not that complicated once you grasp it. The big talent tree thing is actually very simple. Choose a defense type you want to pursue, what spells you'll want to use and what stats you'll need and then its simply grabbing it. There aren't really that many interesting choices involved. Its disappointingly simple.
