no it had no character creation, a dumb setting, ran like garbage, and the races were all ugly and boring

>taunting strawmen to defend your dead games

This bascially being in a retarded space world instead of fantasy made the player base small elitist. Then they drove everyone away. Plus bots filled all the battlegrounds.

The launch was horrible. The game was advertise for raiding but decided to add in WoW tier leveling, which made the game a drag. And then there the whole raid requirement just to do raid. Seriously, if they made leveling not retarded (they already fix the raid requirement) at the start of the game's life, then it might have grown a bit more. It a shame since this is one of a few mmos that let you make slutty fembots.

It not even much of a space theme.

Quit after reporting flying bots gathering materials in all high end zones for 3 weeks.

Also doing daily shit in that stupid island was just not fun. Dungeons were great, shame a ton of people never experienced them.

Wildstar is what happens when someone who has never played a game before tries to make a clone of it based off of what he read on the internet.

I hated the lack of weapon variety. I chose warrior with hopes of using a large arsenal of weapons and I think I was only able to use that 2 hand sword thing.

It's still running. But pretty much that. All of that ruined it.

The shit optimization is the thing I always bring up, because it had no optimization from the alpha all the way to launch, ran shit on high end cards at release, ~40fps on average even in wide open areas with no people. It was pretty much unplayable on even the best rigs for a good month and a half after launch.

I adore Wildstar, running around and doing the dumb scientist or explorer quests, crafting sugar coated bugs, finding all sorts of housing stuff, and just generally chilling. But that's not how the game presents itself. It's all focused on Raid! Grind! HARDCORE! Really, I think they need more for the filthy casuals, especially since its f2p now.

It ran like absolute ass no matter what system you ran it on and since it was an engine issue I would assume this is still the case to this day

>2 factions
>wow leveling/vanilla oxyina raid tier prequest endgame
if i wanted to play wow i would play wow. i stick with guild wars 2 as a 2nd mmo

>I think they need more for the filthy casuals, especially since its f2p now.
They already blew their chance at salvaging this game when the F2P launch and Steam releases failed. It's never going to get new content again and all that's left is to wait it out until NC Soft shuts it down.

>It ran like absolute ass no matter what system you ran it on
just because you're a poorfag doesn't mean everybody else is
it ran great on my system

Well congratulations you are one of the very few people that it did run well for then

I love wildstar and wish it could be revived :(

We had HOT CHICKS and CURVY DELICIOUS CHARACTERS, CUPCAKES! But your tiny, stupid cupcake brains couldn't handle the HARDCORE and so you jive-turkeys caused us to go under! But even if it's dead, WILDSTAR WILL LIVE FOREVER, CUPCAKES!

HOO-RAH! SLAG EM', TAG EM and BAG EM!

That VA gets old after you left tutorial island.

>clown sci-fi setting
>no atmosphere
>no lore
you people totally don't fucking get the appeal behind WoW

Attached: WoW_ArtBook_BurningCrusade105.jpg (1190x1525, 1006K)

It's a shame, I really liked the aesthetic but it was just not interesting in the slightest. I liked that there was a profession designed around exploring the world, I think all MMO games should have stuff like that.

I liked the atmosphere and lore of WoW a lot more when it didn't have things like motorcycles, robots, space ships and laser guns. Even when Warhammer has that stuff they at least attempt to have it make sense. Kind of.

Don't forget once you reached level cap you had an Onyxia style attunement to get through

Attached: wildstar.jpg (864x7304, 923K)

>Events
I have only played FFXIV and WoW Vanilla (Level 52), what do they mean by events?

Is tge attunement to raid still there?

just another word for quest

removed so you can just start raiding once you reach cap

As someone with no experience with the game, these sound like wholly random requirements. Is there some method to the madness I'm not grasping, or is it literal busywork for the sake of padding the game?

Wildstar was ran by sjw faggots

You'd get banned for saying "lol dead game" in "trade" channel when it was still on life support. So many triggered faggots

Didn't they add some super long progression grind at the end tho? kinda extra talents or some shit, that made me quit last time I tried it.

Where to start...

The game itself was marketed as a return to Vanilla WoW to the point where they even said they want people that played vanilla to play Wildstar

the problem was there were a ton of game breaking bugs that were found in the early beta that were never fixed until months after most people had left

they also heavily overtuned dungeons and raids. Some of the hardcore raiders even complained that raid mechanics were being changed while they were doing the boss because devs thought that would be the best time to tune

also PVP was just a major clusterfuck. If you've ever watched the Dunkey video that PVP section was so accurate

if you're looking for a cheap MMO (I think its only 20 dollars now and no sub fee) they wanted the vanilla WoW audience but drove them off with everything being way overtuned and bugs never being fixed despite everyone complaining on the forums

I think they removed that not too long ago, but its been a while since I've played

I would say the high pc requirements were a bigger detriment to the game's playerbase. A lot of f2p mmo players still use toasters. I would love to try the game but I have a toaster and the game won't even let me try to run it, it sends me to some you can't run it screen after I downloaded it

W* is free

oh it finally went ftp? last I checked you just pay 20 bucks and its free forever though that may have been GW2 I don't remember...

Gonna reinstall and level something new. What class should I play for DPS?

GW2 the base is free and you pay for the expansions

You forgot to add that before you could raid, you needed epics. You would get those by doing "heroic" dungeons (fuck that desert escort level). Then to artificially increase longevity of the game, the devs nerfed the drop rate of epics. This is when I quit.

I love this game, but I won't play it due to it being in permanent maintenance mode. It will die, and more likely sooner than later

NC Soft deserve a slow and painful death, I hope GW2 is next and they lose even more money for what they did to City of Heroes

They devs had some serious fucking hubris too. They acted like they were the renaissance of the mmo genre, by pretending to understand what players wanted.

Seriously is this game worth getting back into nowadays? I'm so fucking bored.

It in full maintenance mode with no clear update to add things to the game.

So, besides FF14 and WOW, is there any MMO left that could be considered alive these days with a healthy population?

>95% of the people have performance issues
>works for me poorfags XD
>game dies
>wow wtf why is this happening

It's like you chimps have a sole working neurone.

What's wrong with getting to end game though

The looming omen that they'll announce servers shutting down any day now. Or they can keep it on life support 2 more years, who knows, but getting invested when there isn't any update announced makes the community feel nothing but dread in the air.

I liked the Chua. Sue me.

I would've liked it more if the character creation wasn't shit. Way too few options and a lot of the ones that were there looked like shit.

Guild Wars 2 is doing alright, I think Lord of the Rings Online has a small but tight community as well.

Maintenance mode wouldn't really affect you if you haven't experienced most of the game's content yet though

Probably ESO and Black Desert, the former just announced an expansion and the latter is rather popular on twitch

Is BDO any good?

No, its typical Korean P2W garbage where the only way to get the best gear is to roll for upgrades using cashshop items.

The combat is fun, if not a little unpolished. The characters are gorgeous. Everything else about it sucks ass.

I did that desert Oregon trail adventure dozens upon dozens of times when the game came out with friends and we never saw all the drops that were possible. It was so fun kind aggravating.

The game also had horrible optimization and bugs everywhere. Also when you get a mount a fucking hoverboard no less it doesn't even feel fast even with the upgrades. It was really sad.

It's great as long as you're not a scrub rushing max lvl and ignoring the world, exploration and quests

it played like a wow clone without the combat. They tried to have Guild wars style ability-focused character building but fucked that up by only giving you like 15 skills total per char to choose from. They advertised it "LOL SO HARDCORE" but it that was a bunch of bullshit and the game is just as casual as any other aside from needing to beat dungeons under a time limit. Leveling up was a braindead slog with your only reward being more obnoxious voice overs. PvP was a complete clusterfuck. Telegraphs everywhere because the devs were too lazy to make more than 1 attack animation per monster and also because the target audience is fucking stupid. Even if you liked the raids enough to deal with attunement there was only 2 of them and they were run of the mill shit with a signature wildstar obnoxious makeover. Remember warplots? No one fucking does because there was like a total of 2 fucking warplot games and they were a buggy mess despite it being hyped up so much pre launch. They had one goal with this project and that was to annoy as many people as possible while also attracting an even more obnoxious community of furry rat erpers. Literally nothing redeemable from this piece of shit

it's fucking boring

*wow clone without the content

I believe what killed it is the graphics. I have never seen a single person praise that shit. Low poly, flat textures, disproportionate cartoony design.

A shame really, the game has amazing flawless features. Movement and animations were top tier, music was great. Housing was bigger than the game itself. Dungeons were fantastic, even with the bad skill system.
They just fucked it up with awful artstyle, baby UI, obnoxious writing and humor, samey classes, MOBA number of skills. The game's optimisation at launch didn't help.

I just wish they would do a carbon copy with the correct atmosphere.

Can they just shut it down already so somebody can open a proper private server?

theres attune quests and then there was the abomination that was wildstars attune quest

i know the game wanted to cater to the hardcore, which is what brought me to play it. but once we hit that wall we all quit. it was THAT bad

al the other negitives i could have dealt with

for me it was bugs, the beta was essentially unplayable for me, felt like a pre-alpha version

aside from that I didnt really care for the style of the game, seems like they didnt really know where they wanted to go with it
you had super cartoony player characters in a very blandly colored world

also I absolutely hate AoE markers on the ground

I liked the Mordesh and Mechari but thats about it.

The setting was awesome, the atmosphere and artstyle just completely ruined it.
How can you be a "dangerous uncharted world" when you run around in a hamster ball with people calling you cupcake and dancing to pop music, with pokemon visuals.

>How can you be a "dangerous uncharted world"
There are a bunch of stable civilizations on the surface of the planet. "Dangerous uncharted world" is the last word I would describe this setting.

So factions in this game don't matter anymore right? Like can you join guilds cross faction? Can you go to each other's capital cities?

/thread

Wildstar was actually pretty fun, but i lost interest a few weeks after hitting max level.

One of my best memories with the game was the housing aspect. I made a jumping puzzle and invited a ton of people to my house for contests. The winner would get ingame money.
I miss all the wildstar threads on Sup Forums and /vg/.

I think they received an unfair amount of criticism for the art style. It really wasn't that bad.

That's not what uncharted means, you're thinking of unhabited

This pretty much. The gameplay wasn't bad really, but I had a really, really hard time getting into it because of the eye-sore that was the art style, the shitty UI and my god, the setting was pure cringe. Damn shame, really, because I was looking forward to it.

Housing was actually the one thing i want to say W* nailed. Instanced, neighbors, setting the sky and environment alongside gathering/crafting/ decor. I know one dude made a moving stage. It was the only thing about it i miss

The game was fun as fuck and subsequently killed by the devs as they desperately attempted to use it to pay off the loans of their failed Defiance project.

>put fucktons of unmarked secret quests in the world to encourage exploration
>give you the choice of jobs at game start so you'll see more combat/exploration/collectibles/lore depending on what you want
>also allow you to experience the other 3/4ths of that special content but only if you group with those jobs, encouraging constant teamwork
>quests attempted to be made actually interesting and not just 'go here kill x'
>combat was fun, fuck you
>dungeons were balls to the walls hard and required proper teamwork, raids even more so
>really decent home/house building that was shittier than Rift's but better than most
>collectibles and achievements that actually gave you bonuses for hunting them down
It was fucking great. Then they stopped making new content, made every expansion/new zone just a daily-quest farm area with no real reward or reason for doing it, killed all their seasonal events, made it F2P and generally shat all over everything that made it interesting. GG.

>dungeons were balls to the walls hard and required proper teamwork,
If there are players that actually does this, which is zero. Every time I get back to the game, NO ONE DOES IT, even when I ask in the chat.

Same, but there's a difference between that kind of stuff being slowly introduced into an established, well-liked thing and something like Wildstar where if you weren't autistic before, you sure as fuck got sensory overload by all the retarded, ugly shit they shoved down your throat from the get-go. It was like they took every bad sci-fi idea and tried jamming it into light fantasy just to try and make it look like they weren't copying WoW.

sounds exactly like WoW to me
