When the fuck is sony going to stop using this shitty style of d-pads?

when the fuck is sony going to stop using this shitty style of d-pads?

It's better than Xbox pad

Works fine for me, easy to do circle motions for fighting games.

Doesn't Nintendo own the trademark for traditional + D-pads?

that expired in 2005

at least the xbone's dpad is an actual dpad and not just 4 direction buttons

t. Weak thumbed spyboy

A true son of a Shepard would get callouses like in the old days with the clunky nes controller, yes?

Yeah but the Switch needed to be that way if they wanted to make each controller capable of being used solo

>at least the xbone's dpad is an actual dpad and not just 4 direction buttons

Nigga what the fuck does this even mean? D-pad stand for DIRECTIONAL-PAD

Whatsa spyboy mysta?

what game could you possibly be playing where you use a d-pad and also not have shit taste?

It's not the "directional" part that's in question here. It's the "pad" part.

He's being dumb and pretending that the Dualshock D-pad buttons aren't connected to each other.
any 2D game

No, you fucking peabrain. Everyone knows the directional buttons are connected, but the pad is still hidden inside the actual controller instead of sticking out alongside the buttons. It's shit controller design

because if you want a proper dpad for fighting games or other heavy uses you buy a specialized input you faggot
those are fine for digital input anyway

Why would they stop using the best D-Pad?

Attached: 1485713079793.gif (160x224, 403K)

literally doesn't make a difference

>literally the only good modern dpad

>It's shit controller design

It's actually great controller design because having the buttons connected on the surface causes more problems than it solves. That D-pad is the exact reason the PS4 gets fighting games and the Xbone doesn't.

Xbox One is better

Attached: lol2.webm (1280x720, 1.07M)

That would be the vita d-pad.

t. never used one

is that why all the best dpads have the buttons connected on the surface?

>facts pulled straight from user's ass

I've used one as I have an Xbox One, it misses inputs all the time. Even the Switch Pro controller d-pad feels better.

instant air dashes are a pain in the ass tho

>fighting games
>d-pad

Attached: pixies.png (376x398, 165K)

Maybe yours is defective. Mine works perfectly.

>shitty style of d-pads
>used by professional fighting game players for decades to great success

I have two of them, they both do it when used with the console. Even in the system UI it misses inputs regularly. Push right 3x and it only moves 2 spaces.

NES
SNES
N64
GAMECUBE
WII
WII U
SWITCH PRO CONTROLLER

what do they all have in common? Dpad buttons connected on surface

Because the Vita's D-pad is more satisfying to use

Have you tried doing inputs with analog? Imprecise asf.
>inb4 just use a stick

What's wrong with it?

Fucking this
>that delicious, subtle "click" when you press it

>what do they all have in common?
All made by Nintendo?

This

>he's a nintendie

OH NO OH NO OH NO AHAHAHAHAHA

>N64
>good

Come on son

Of the modern controllers D-Pads it's definitely Xbone > PS4 > Switch Pro

Coming from someone who actually owns them all and used them for at least 100 hours each, btw.

I dont get this either. How is this better or cheaper than 4 seperate clickable buttons

not my fault that nintendo is the only company making good dpads

Vita has the best D-Pad. Prove me wrong

What else would I use? You can git plenty gud with a dpad.

literally (literally) just use a stick

Attached: 1521348891431.jpg (1000x1000, 76K)

Never, because Sony fanboys have stockholm syndrome and will convince themselves to enjoy literally anything Sony throws at them.

Exhibit A, the ps2/ps3 controller that xbox fans were saying was garbage-tier and Sonybroz swore their life on it until the ps4 controller came out and now they act all shocked.
“WOAH DUDE I CANT EVEN GO BACK TO THE PS2 CONTROLLER AT THIS POINT. THIS IS THE NEXT EVOLUTION IN GAMING!”

Or when sonybros laughed at the concept of Xbox achievements and then when trophies came out they pretended it was some great new innovation and fell in love with it.

too poor to buy one just to try out and too lazy to make my own
d-pad just werks

This x1000

PS2 controller is god tier, you dumb nigger

Literally never had a problem with their d-pads in 20 years and i still play a lot of d-pad centric games from tank controls, to 2D to Fighting games. Its fine. Id rather be using the PlayStation D-pad to play pic related than the Nintendo one and i should know because i own both.

Fighting games and rpgs.

t. Underage

I doubt you've competed in fighting game tournaments or let alone play fighting games at all. The dualshock style d-pads have a clear advantage because of the clearly separated analog directional inputs which makes precises inputs easy. People have won and continue to win major fighting tournaments with DS controllers, in any fighting game. Just last week an american using a ds4 beat a Japanese stick user in GG grand finals. That's a game that requires insane execution and timing. Try playing that game with an xbox dpad, you won't have much success.

Look at THIS faggot

how effectively can you guys do this on a d-pad?

Attached: shoryuken.jpg (576x432, 12K)

False, i own an N64 and the d-pad is awful compared to PlayStation.

I suck at fighting games so I don't know. Probably alright with enough practice.

>“WOAH DUDE I CANT EVEN GO BACK TO THE PS2 CONTROLLER AT THIS POINT. THIS IS THE NEXT EVOLUTION IN GAMING!”

I have LITERALLY never seen anyone say this, mainly because it's the same fucking controller

literally impossible

It's mechanically a real dpad it just has that bit of plastic over the middle.

It actually took me years to do this effectively as a kid.

>Mad at the best console dpad right now

There isn't anything wrong with that design.

>WOAH DUDE I CANT EVEN GO BACK TO THE PS2 CONTROLLER AT THIS POINT. THIS IS THE NEXT EVOLUTION IN GAMING!

Said absolutley no one.

By not being retarded.

Please be bait

Like 98% of the time it goes off just fine.

It shouldn't be surprising there was a shift in opinion when the PS4 came out and was flooded by Xbox refugees. Paid online and concave analog sticks are still bad. Digital triggers are also better than analog for everything but sim racing games.

95% of Sup Forums can't even perform this with a stick

Never played SF, but it looks like >, slide into >v, v, .

One of the best dpads ever.

it's actually just >, v, >v.

this has to be bait, surely noone is autistic enough to not call it a dpad because it's directional buttons not literally joined together

When they finally start making games worth playing. Meaning: never.

because it's the best after the SNES d-pad and only retard shitters who don't know how to use them complain

There are some people on Sup Forums that believe that.

There are a lot of people who repeat it as bait.

The SNES d-pad is a piece of stiff shit compared to the godly ds4 d-pad.

PSP had the best D-pad.

>implying the snes has the best d-pad and not pic related

Attached: saturn controller.jpg (800x531, 46K)

I'm not even that good at fightan but even i could do this basic bitch move on a terrible 360 pad of all things

Wut ?
It's great.

I don't think you've used an Xbone controller. Xbone D-pad is mechanical and clicks each direction. PS4 d-pad is squishy and not as precise.

>concave analog sticks are still bad.
objectively wrong

That seems even simpler, why's the shoryuken such a meme?

Why change what works? It's been perfection for 4 generations straight.

Im talking ps4 to ps3.
Not the same controller by a long shot.

>XYZ aren't

What about concave triggers that the sony fanboys defended relentlessly as well?

>using a manga anime pedophile fighting pad

when people get some more brain cells and build a pc

Attached: 1507500283559.jpg (480x264, 23K)

idort here
ps4 d-pad is currently the best one out there, with the wiiU pro controller 2nd. havent tried the switch pro one yet, but it seems similar to the wiiu one.

i use the PS4 controller on PC for platformers and games with heavy d-pad use, like the sega genesis classics which i've also been playing a bit

the ps4 slim ds4 slightly improved the original by coating the d-pad with a rubbery palstic texture, so it doesnt slip from under your fingers as much and is more confortable.

best controller overall is still the xbone

speaking of which, weren't we getting official sega classic controllers with usb/bluetooth soon?

I roll my thumb over the surface of the stick rather than pushing it. Having a concave stick just puts a pot hole in the way that is uncomfortable. I actually bought caps for my PS4 controller to make them convex again.

>I don't think you've used an Xbone controller.

I have one and it's a piece of shit. Using the d-pad feels uncomfortable because the xbox controller is designed specifically for 3D games with its "ergonomic" analog stick placement. The d-pad is an afterthought on xbox controllers and its main purpose is for menu navigation.

>PS4 d-pad is squishy and not as precise.

I guess you know better than professional fighting game players using playstation controllers who have to rely on precise input methods in order to beat a fierce competition of stick/hitbox/other controller players. Also I don't know what ds4 controllers you're using but the three I have all click and have a satisfying feedback.

>no one uses controllers on pc

Attached: 1504425470507.png (762x754, 61K)

Pretty much.
