Beta is about to be release soon but don't expect ground breaking stuff. As always, be skeptical at a healthy level.

Personally I enjoyed the game but the sheer lack of polish and content is staggering at this moment. If you wish to devote countless hours wondering around the world and 30 bucks is nothing to you, go for it. If not, stick to PUBG as it offers distilled core gameplay of DayZ for now.

The most realistic anticipation one can get is to get polished gameplay (without blackhead glitch and character desync, general feeling of gun mechanic). Basebuilding is something they plan on implementing after the launch, from what I heard.

Indie garbage routinely gets massively inflated reviews, as the only people who care enough to buy the games and write reviews for them have decided they like the game before it's even installed.
Worst case, if the game doesn't live up to their expectations, it will still get a thumbs up because "well its only $15 XDXD".

In short, steam reviews are worthless for trying to find good games. They only work for avoiding irredeemable trash that not even the most deluded indiefag can justify recommending.
