As a person who has played every souls game i can tell you the reason people (me included) hate DS2 is because it looks and feels so dramatically different than DS1 or DS3. DS2 is also bogged down by all of the silly and/or unnecessary bosses, most of which dont even put up much of a fight and it ends up feeling more like a knock off Dark Souls than an actual sequel. For fucks sake one of the """boss fights""" is a room full of generic enemies, without even a neat gimmic like the Deacons of the Deep im not saying that was a great boss fight either but still

This is purely subjective listing, and DS still has the best exploration and environment even if I think the pvp was broken, and the pve was kinda lackluster in comparison to later installments.
As for Niho I have a separate category for it because it feels more like a slow NG than souls to me. Great game though.
Looks good enough for me. The art style, animations, and combat are just what I need right now.

DeS>DaS3>DaS2>DaS1>BB
DeS: best monster variation, very challenging
DaS3: most improved of the three dark souls games for PvP game play, great fighting mechanics of the three souls.
DaS2: shitty map design, but made up for it with great PvP, massive weapon spell variations, improved on most of the mechanical bullshit DaS1 suffered from.
DaS1: the exploration game, fun the first time and rememberable by dark souls fans, boring overall if your not suffering from nostalgia due to the many shortfalls of mechanical backstabbs, broken endurance builds...just to name a few
