@gizchina

My only smartphone had been an iPhone 5S.
I want to switch to Android. I'm excited for the Note 6.

But I've heard complaints that Android is very laggy, and most apps run smoother on iOS. Is that true?

Give me one reason not to.
Is this a bad deal? Will facebook lag? Are there any better phones for less than a hundred dollars?

Is mtk6735p an SoC to be avoided?

Why is ulefone so obsessed with iPhone design?

front looks quite nice really. the back is an abortion though

Agreed.

I would prefer this to the power though simply because I look at the front, and the front of the power looks like a love child between the iPhone 4s and a generic android device.

>Will facebook lag?
>mtk6735p
Yes, and many other apps will. MTK6753 is the bare minimum for acceptable performance these days with Mediatek.

I am going to shill my Xiaomi Mi4c as great phone. But also I have to say, that MIUI is going full retard since start of 2016, more bugs than improvements, locked bootloader on every new device for "security" reason, locked OS at Mi5 and MIUI 8 is going full Assmung TouchWizz copypaste.

With the Xperia Performance coming out soon, do you think the Z5 will finally start lowering in price?
It's the only phone I want in this world.
And it's still fucking expensive. Hot Christ.

P.S. gearbest has already jacked up the price, get it from one of the chink stores

Shame it's the P10 instead of the X10 though

Isn't the p10 more energy efficient though?

So I should spend an extra $50 and get the k6000 pro?

>But I've heard complaints that Android is very laggy, and most apps run smoother on iOS. Is that true?
Yes.

>Xiaomi Mi4c great phone
>MIUI is going full retard since start of 2016, more bugs than improvements
as expected

You should avoid android, even the $90 android phones won't run smooth! Better stick to ios!!!

As someone who doesn't follow /CSG/, what is the deal with Ulefone, especially this Future model?
I know everything is made in China now, but is it actually GOOD quality shit that I can trust like Sony or Samsung or other big name brand?
I don't want it to be nice and functional for 3-5 months and then absolutely shit itself because lolcommunistchina manufacturing. If they can let their citizens fall through an escalators without much repercussion, they sure as shit won't make a phone that's solid for 3+ years. At least, that's how I feel anyway.
But this phone looks pretty nice, but mediatek, chinese botnet, and cheap price usually mean bottom-tier quality to me.
Sell me on this shit, fags.

Get an Xperia Z5 Premium E6883 version it's dual sim, waterproof, stylish and just overall awesome.

Definitely. comes with an extra 3GB RAM/32GB ROM as well.

Good specs for the value, and most of them come with close to stock Android (not Xiaomi or Meizu ). some brands are better than others, e.g. Doogee, Bluboo etc. is notorious for breaking up after 8 months.
Ulefone is OK, the Power model was very popular at /csg/.

tl:dr good alternative if you don't have the dough for a flagship.

But the price.
Will not
go
fucking
down.
Is it going to stay $600 forever????

I have the Zenfone 2e coming in later today. I've checked xda-developers and RussiaNBeaR seems to be the most stock rom. Is there any other rom out there though that might be more suitable for it? Mostly used for browsing, music, videos and contacting people

Personally I like oukitel designs more.
They don't try to look like android and put more focus into durability and battery life.

youtu.be/mnYhWGis7Uk

Currently i still have an old Sony Ericsson so this will be my 1st goyphone, so please be gentle..

>Location
Germany
>Budget
Preferred under 300€, but flexibel.
>Size
Min. 4.8", optimum 5", max 5.5", i don't want a 6" brick as a phone.
>Usage
Standard browsing, chat, youtube, music, work/uni (documents, etc.), no games
>Battery
The bigger the better (just like your mom likes it)
I do not want any trash that dies within a day from just browsing, opening some docs and listening to music.
Removable battery is a bonus, but not a must have.
>Camera
No priority, but at least decent picture quality. Video is irrelevant.
>Audio.
Speakers are irrelevant, but good audio quality via headphones is a must have.
>Other
I'd say at least 2GB RAM and 16GB if SD slot is available, otherwise 32 GB.
At least decent chipset. Something like SD 616, 808, 650 should be fine, i guess?
LTE is bonus, but not a must have since i have wifi wherever i am.

I already looked into some options like the Redmi Note 3 Pro, but 5.5" is not optimal, camera is mediocore and i don't know about the audio quality, otherwise this looks like a good option.
What do you say, what should i get, should i wait until later this year, maybe for the 1+3?

Redmi 3

Oukitel phones look sexy, but I'm worried about how long it'll last after buying it.

I took a chance and ordered one. Looks decent in the hands on videos, I can't resist the bezel-less meme.

The last cheap chinkphone I had was a UMI Zero, and that had a smooth stock UI but shit build quality and weird bugs, so hopefully Ulefone does better than that.

>but I'm worried about how long it'll last after buying it.
It looks like the chinkphones are finally starting to drop the MT6753 and move on to P10, X10, and X20 CPU's in their designs. I'd say wait a bit more, there are already few phones announced like pic related that will offer much better performance for the money. it's only a matter of time before Oukitel Ulefone UMI etc will follow through.

Problem is I'm looking for god tier battery life, coming from a nexus 4.

My budget is 200 aud, can push to 230 aud.

Oukitel is working on the k6000 premium with x20 and 6gb ram, but it doesn't sound cheap. The ulefone future looks nice but I hate the knock off apple designs they use.

>back button on the wrong side
Dropped.

Additional tempered glass is mandatory for the Redmi 3, or does it have decent protection? Couldn't find anything precise.

Are they still fighting about the name in csg?

For mega-batteries and at this price it's all clones with nearly the same specs.

Oukitel K6000
Cubot H2
Leagoo Shark 1
HomTom HT6
Doogee T7

5.5", MTK6753, 3GB RAM etc. so it really comes down to your design preference.

The K6000 premium will be around $220 IIRC.

It's on the correct side though

Honest opinions on the HTC 10?
Compared to S7/G5?

G5 release is a desaster. They don't even sell the dac anymore and haven't enough modules.
The s7 is the only competition. Battery live seems to be better, but the glass back is another point of failure and is slippy. Performance should be same. I don't have the benchmarks in my mind but exynos should be a bit faster and sd version slower bc of touchjizz. I like the front of the HTC more bc they got rid of the logo. The Samsung logo is pretty bright in contrast to the black. Camera quality is on pair. If you are interested in rooting get the HTC bc opening the bootloader is covered by the warranty.

On paper, looks great.

Price? Bit too much. (even if it's only $30 more than the S7 I think)

It's no IP68 like S7, but feels good in the hand, not slippery glass shit.

Screen is okay, 1440p meme resolution unfortunately, IPS LCD, brightness isn't a strong point apparently

Camera isn't as good as the S7 and doesn't have dual cameras like the G5, but still is great.

Very high quality DAC out of the box unlike G5, who won't even sell their friends thing in the US

Speakers are top tier if you're one of the people who actually care about phone speakers compared to just wearing headphones, though diehard One fans hate it because muh dual front facing speakers, and some say it's not as loud, but still crisp.

I wouldn't buy it but it's comparable to the S7 in many ways

Always a good idea to have a protective case.

I was thinking about getting the Moto X Pure, does anyone else have it? What do you think about it?

So is the xp a successor to the z line?

Screen: S7 > 10 > G5
Camera: G5 > S7 >10
Design: 10 = S7 > G5 (IMO)
Build quality: 10 > S7 > G5
Speakers: 10 > G5 > S7
Audio out: 10 > G5 > S7
Software: 10 > S7 > G5
Updates: 10 > S7 > G5
Battery life: 10 = S7 = G5
Custom ROMs: 10 > G5 > S7
Water resistance: S7 > 10 > G5
Price: G5 > S7 > 10

>Camera: G5 > S7 >10
Nope.

>(IMO)
Implying any of these ratings are objective.

Also, G5 battery on par with the S7.. wat?

Any Canadians?
What's the better option to save money?

>stay with my refurbished Nexus 5
>worried of it going to break again
>stay with my Fido BYOD 1gb $40 plan (data is enough)
OR
>sell Nexus 5
>spend money on similar spec phone (all I need)
>stay with Fido plan
OR
>sell Nexus 5
>get a 2yr plan with a company that has a decent price for a similar spec phone and ~1gb of Data

>break again
you need to elaborate on this

Republic Wireless: should I, or should I not?

My Nexus 5 is refurbished because my original 5's power button broke and would reset itself constantly. I am not up for any more 'free fixes' or refurbished 5's anymore so I'd want to get rid of it before it breaks again!

Here's my non-meme response: IOS has a nice market share and there are only a handful of phones that developers have to deal with when making iOS apps, so you will generally have a smoother experience with iOS apps. That said, Android in recent years has gotten A LOT better and also have the benefit of being more open source and customizable. While there was lag in previous versions of Android, that is a thing of the past today (typing all this our on an s7 and haven't really experienced any lag WHATSOEVER). So basically what that means is, if you enjoy iOS and Apple phones have the feature set you want, then you should consider just sticking with Apple. If a certain Android phone catches your interest (for example, HTC is a godsend to audiophiles, while s7 has waterproofing) and you would like more freedom over the type of apps you can download (iOS can't have a torrent app while Android has plenty), then you should definitely consider an Android.

Battery of the 10 isnt as good as the s7 and I'm a HTC fanboy.

Selling my phone on ebay. Do I say its refurbished by the manufacturer OR say it's used?

Which is better from a consumer standpoint and me making more $$$?

Guys, is there any upcoming smartphone with less thab 5" screen? I really want something that can fits on my pocket. Decent camera apprrciated too, and not Ios.

Can a phone power a rasp pi zero?

Difficult, the 10 got 5,2"

What's the condition of the phone? I would generally say that is more important than either of those. Also listing a reason other than [I've found an issue with this phone/ I don't like it] also helps.

Z compact 3/5

Which carrier do you guys use, and how much do you pay for it? I pay 30$ a month for Republic which seems really cheap, but their tiny selection of phones is causing me to look elsewhere.

IPhone SE

>$600
Mate, my network provider offers basic model Z5 for fucking 730 euros.

>and not Ios.
Can't you faggot read?

How's the Moto X 2nd Gen? Would it be too big for me if I'm used to the Galaxy S4 Mini?

I can. And IPhone SE is still your best bet. Stop being such an Android shill.

>also is ios not los ayy lmao

But fucking why?
What is it doing that it hasn't gone on sale price since release in fucking SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER?
I want to buy you, but you're still so fucking EXPENSIVE.

Repostan

>I wish the Redmi 3 had the Snapdragon 650 like the pro version but I decided to go with the latter due to its competitively compact size

>It does lag but that tends to be when I'm going multiple things at once like update apps whilst watching a video then trying to switch between them.

reddit.com/r/chinaphones/comments/4ho8ze/interested_need_advice_xiaomi_redmi_3/

Because if it gets cheaper - lots of people will buy Z5. It's esentially like Samsung, but with million times better design and brand popularity/premium

Last year's specs worse camera and one gb ram that thing will run slow with the next ios version (and its called iOS).

Yep

iPhone SE costs $700 for a worse product than a $200 Android device. Stop being an Apple shill.

LG is ahead of Samsung software and update wise, but the battery life of the G5 is smaller than the S7. Otherwise I completely agree with you

moto g 2015 vs alcatel idol 3 4.7

Had the iPhone since the 4th gen. Switched between HTC M8, Galaxy s5 and s6. Keep going back to iPhone. It's just simple, fast, never have to reboot it, it just fucking works. Android just slows down drastically. Sure, you can clean the cache and what not to keep the speed stable but holy hell its too much of a hassle. iPhone just works like a charm.

How does it feel having back button on the right side for right-handed users?

yes the moto x 2nd gen was a let down , lots of overheating , i liked the soft back but it'll seem huge jumping from s4 mini

The condition is actually great. Refurbished 5 got sent to me a few weeks ago. Nothing wrong with it.
Ebay requires me to say what 'condition' the phone it's in.

Is there any non shit browser with adblock for android?

Firefox just lags as hell just like its ripoffs. UCbrowser is decent but sometimes can have annoying popups.

Lightning browser is supposedly good but i dont feel like purchasing sonething i cant test (no adblock in free version).

Damn, alright. Is there anything you would recommend instead?

.
>Lightning browser is supposedly good but i dont feel like purchasing sonething i cant test (no adblock in free version).
You what, mate? Lightning is free and open source. Just download it from F-Droid.

Moto G, I have it

Opera

Could I use lightning (or any other) browser to integrate my chrome favorites?
I like bookmarking things on my mobile then seeing them saved on my chrome desktop.

Any Nexus 6 users find a way to turn off forced encryption on their phones?

Also, why is it forced in the first place? Any advantages and disadvantages of having it encrypted or decrypted?

Last two HTC versions had much flaws they got theirs shit together. My HTC m7 is still running smooth they know how to optimize. In my case everything just works either. We don't have to talk about android vs ios the pros and conts are obvious. IOS has better social media shot running android does everything else better. If you have no problem with iTunes, having no file explorer and dealing with the ditching of old devices by updates, be happy.

This opera mini saves your mobile data, Firefox just in case you need desktop versions/java script.

Just say near mint condition, only used a few weeks and no visible blemishes. Unless there is something wrong with this phone software-wise or physically you should be fine with that, while insuring it looks viable to potential costumers.

As said, Z3/Z5 compact. Both are 4.6" screens, but the devices themselves are only slightly bigger than the 4" iPhones (only using them as a reference for the size).
Alternatively, you can probably get a Z1 compact for relatively cheap. I got one for ~$150. I moved from a 5c, and the sizes are nearly the same.
The Z1C is in no way underpowered. Assuming your budget isn't too low, the Z3C would be best. If you can, Z5C. The Z5C/Z3C get better battery life than the Z1C, but from what I hear the Z3C heats up a considerable amount.

Forgot to add:
The cameras are all good, though I've found that the stock camera app isn't the best. In particular, don't use the auto ("Superior Auto") mode. At least on the Z1C it's absolute rubbish.

What. How can it be for free on f droid and paid for adblock on gplay. Thanks user. Just installed it from f droid.

>HTC is a godsend to audiophiles
spoon feed me on this topic pls

Think of the paid version as an idiot tax. If you're stupid enough to pay for an open source program then you deserve to lose that money.

I guess. It never occured to me to check f droid. I usually get newpipe and clover from it and thats it.

Don't tell me what to do

There's no such thing as a phone that remains one price point its entire lifespan... is there...?

"HTC announced the 10 would be available in 32GB and 64GB options, but it appears those options will be market specific. There is no word on which markets will get the 64GB HTC 10, but for now, we know the U.S. is not one of them."
idigitaltimes.com/htc-10-release-date-details-no-64gb-model-us-527115

no 64gb for the us

it's like they don't want me to buy their phone

dunno why i liked you, sorry buddy

Used nexus 9 for ~$250, yes or no?
I want to use it for watching shit and Web browsing.

LG G4

is that considerably less than a new one?

Wut? Why do you want the 64gb model if you can get a mSD?

Well on their older phones they had great front facing speakers that were very loud and clear. Basically the best on board speakers on any smartphone at the time. They changed that with the 10, but they are still better than most other phone speakers out there. Regardless, their DAC has always been top tier, especially if you had the headphones to take advantage of them. They also have on board software that is great for audio too (boomsound, audio profiles, among others). They are pretty based if you love audio. Also, if you are outside of the US, the 10 ships with Hi-Fi headphones (about $100 value I believe).

yes. also, apps are more feature rich and iOS devices receive official updates much longer and sooner than androids.

I missed out on the $30 Moto e from best buy.

Mother's day coming up, have fuck all money, mother's cell phone bit the dust recently.

Is there anything similarly priced that I can get her?
