Because Sup Forums is technology illiterate and does not realize the distribution should be mentioned when talking about Linux, not just "Linux".
However, one could argue that they are generalizing all distros by saying Linux, because when one mentions Linux one presumably assumes they're talking about the distributions they use in particular.
