That's 4Mb ... right?

kek
You must have taken that girl's picture when she reacted out of sheer disgust from seeing you.
Does this thread have any point other than you showcasing your faggotry and wasting people's time?
Not everyone needs 32gb of ram, some people can get by with 4, 6, or 8 just fine.

Maybe if all you do is use Word and play Solitaire, yes.

AESTHETIC manlet detected
Who needs RAM when you have GOAT?
deviantart? where? also name is 6 letter long, you're just not used to glorious FHD screens
but yeah, I'm a manlet.
Why would I need more than 16gb you stupid shit poster? None of my applications ever go above 8gb and my video projects never use more than 12gb
>32 gbyte

it's about size not how fast you are right?
32 user here, wish my motherboard supported more!

No wonder you want more
I'm not even really doing anything right now, just browsing Sup Forums
Seems like pajeetOS strikes again
I have a friend that work as engineer for racing cars - he used 8 gb of ram until now and just now after lots of time he upgraded to 16 ram because he needs it for advance full time mathematics calculations... what do you need so much ram for?
You should look into that. Msconfig and disabled anything you don't need when the machine starts. Keep going through startup and services until that figure is 55-65.
>I'm not even really doing anything

Le Rainbow Tables meme snags another victim
brb, downloading 128GB of RAM.
I've got 16 because I can hit higher than 12gb.
I don't think I'll ever need to go above 16gb in the lifetime of this set of hardware however, so I'm happy. Hell, considering the fact I'm 25 now and don't work in an IT field nor do I manipulate massive resolution pictures/photos/videos (though I do occasionally edit recorded footage from my games, but that gets recorded at 1920x1080 anyway...) so I don't see anything I do suddenly jumping in needs.
By the time we're seeing stuff that takes 30gigs of RAM to run (because we no doubt will at some point in the future), I don't think I'll be interested in using that kinda stuff.
Who knows; maybe I'm wrong and maybe I will still be interested in it all, but I have been less and less interested as I become more and more serious with my partner.
Forgot pic :^)

29.8 GiB of RAM? Why such an arbitrary value?
That quote is EXACTLY why I mention the whole 30GB of RAM thing.
I'm not saying software won't become more and more bloated, that it won't also genuinely add features which take more and more space to run effectively; but I don't foresee myself using those types of software (which right now, its stuff like ultra high res image manipulation/creation, video editing/rendering, virtual servers and so on.)
>I have been less and less interested as I become more and more serious with my partner.

Its a woman I'm with. An older woman, sure, but still a woman. Hell, I've actually managed to convince her to sell her iPhone once the contract runs out (very soon) and she has a Moto E waiting for use.
Jailbreak the Patriarchy strikes again, kek
Oh please in the future you'll need 64Gb just to run a fucking web browser the way things are going.
This is a roll my eyes thing. When you're 35 and 25yrs olds are saying 256Gb is what's needed, you'll roll your eyes too
/47yo
/Grew up with 8Kb ram
Not if I keep refusing to update SJWFox :^)
I bought 16gb ddr4 for my PC, turns out my motherboard doesn't support quadchannel ddr4, so I was stuck just using 12gb and have a spare 4gb ~_~. HUHDURRRR
>47yo
ewwww, get out of here you old pedo
Are you fucking retarded?
He obviously meant kilobytes.
>Virtualisation disabled.
I get where you're coming from, but you've also got to remember that when you grew up, computing was new to the masses and progress in CPU tech was MASSIVE with each generation.
Now computing has spread to every normie going (even if it is mostly mobile now) and the gains with each generation is fucking tiddly.
Now, that may sound like its inconsequential, but when you consider that with increased compute power, you can do more tasks - and more tasks means more memory filled, it makes sense that the needs for higher and higher amounts of RAM was rapidly increasing.
Now we're reaching a plateau in performance, I reckon we'll also see less need for more and more memory in the future. Sure, we'll need more - but not at the same rate as it was before.
I don't use it. I could go and enable it, but why bother enable it when you don't use it?
Same as the overclock thing.
Right now, I'm not using an overclock because while I COULD do it, I don't really do anything that needs it.
When I do need it, I'll do it.
I really don't understand why people say this.
Using a web browser, opening 50 tabs, and having a few other applications open, I tend to hover around 4 gigs ram utilization.
I haven't seen any substantial increase in my need for ram in 5 years. 8 gigs was more than enough then, and it's the same now.
Not everyone's computer is a glorified Facebook client.
But you smell so nice
The measure is Moore's law, and it hasn't been broken yet. Instead of trying to teach me to suck eggs, consider this: I might know something more from my last 37 years in the field than you. At the very least, lookit AI: a very processor and memory intensive task. If memory has plateaued, you're saying AI needs no more. Are you sure? Lookit gaming realism. The memory is not motherboard but daughterboard but more realism requires more memory. Are you saying it's not getting more realistic? In-browsers 3D rendering, same thing. We're not advancing any more? You're wrong about memory plateauing, and it'll take years before you realise it.
AI isn't advancing as quick as processing power did during the heyday.
Prove me wrong.
Prove to me that I'm not speaking sense and that people will NEED to have MUCH more memory within the next 10 years.
What is cache
no, your computer is apparently a malware client, given that it eats twelve gigs to shitpost on Sup Forums.
durr
Your machine is just a Facebook machine. Here's my machine I don't actually use - it only uses 2 GB RAM
If I had a web browser going I assume it'd go up to like 4, just like your Facebook machine
>Prove to me something about the future
25yo not your mental age, then?
That's still not 30GB, let alone 256GB.
I didn't say we no longer need higher amounts, but that I didn't think I would need higher than 16.
Even AT the predicted rate, you're looking at an increase of roughly 0.5 - 1GB per year.
over 10 years, that's anything from 5 - 10GB extra.
At 16GB, with the current average requirement being around 6-8GB for most things, I'd still be sitting comfortable enough on 16GB.
Check, fucking, mate.
And nice ad homiem.
So your argument is that 50-100% more memory is not "much" more memory. Such sophistry should do you well for a career in politics.
