>The Hurd status page states that "it may not be ready for production use, as there are still some bugs and missing features. However, it should be a good base for further development and non-critical application usage." >The GNU Hurd is under active development. Because of that, there is no stable version. We mainly distribute the Hurd sources through Git. The latest release is GNU Hurd 0.7. >GNU was launched by Richard Stallman (rms) in 1983, >1983 >Version 0.7 >1983 RMS-fags will defend this abomination >it may not be ready for production use, as there are still some bugs and missing features >still some bugs and missing features >1983 >not be ready for production use
Now even Stallmanu uses Hurd. That should tell you something.
Hunter Williams
Rajesh, GNU has linux libre these days
Charles Robinson
Thank you Rajpeet. Another 10INR have been deposited into your account. Your continued support is noted.
Nicholas Myers
>Now even Stallmanu uses Hurd. That should tell you something. Took him 30 years to do it! what work!
Justin Flores
Gnu Turd?
Charles Morales
>GNU shits can't make their own fucking kernel after 30 years >>i-it's gnu/linux...
Luke Rivera
this DESU SENPAI
Nicholas Hughes
>Whaah, how dare people fight for my software freedom Also, Hurd is a microkernel through and through, which is way harder to implement than a monolithic kernel, like Linux or (most as far as I'm aware) BSD kernels
Andrew Gonzalez
>30 years >1983 >0.7 >still not ready for prime time
Any excuse at this point is irrelevant, its garbage and forcing everyone to call it GANOO/+Linux is a sham
Jeremiah Rivera
>Hurd" stands for "Hird of Unix-Replacing Daemons". And, then, "Hird" stands for "Hurd of Interfaces Representing Depth". We have here, to my knowledge, the first software to be named by a pair of mutually recursive acronyms.
That is enough of a reason to use hurd
Liam Fisher
It's been over 30 years. Even I could learn enough programming in that time span to create a fullfledged kernel.
Isaiah Hernandez
Linux is under the GPL so they actually have "their own fucking kernel"
Brandon King
So everything under the GPL belongs to the fat man and his cultists?
Jace Walker
yes, clearly That's the first sentence of the fucking license
Gabriel Butler
>That's the first sentence of the fucking license FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM
Carson Powell
if you don't like it try BSD the license for cuckolds
Daniel Sanders
Stallman is a worthless back and the FSF cares more about promoting SJW culture than finishing HURD
You faggots would have joined the Gentoo Hurd, admit it.
Brandon Sanchez
...
Parker Baker
GNU was released in 1983, yes. What does that have to do with Hurd?
Samuel Nguyen
>GNU was released in 1983 Wut?
Oliver Jenkins
if the linux kernel is open source why doesn't stallman just fork it, change it a bit and call it GNU Hurd?
Aiden Williams
its shit
Xavier Rogers
>1983
Hurd wasn't started with the GNU operating system, just a bit later, around 1990 according to wikipedia.
Julian Perez
it werks though
Jayden Perry
Yep, and many of its original developers left when linux was released. Really a shame though, because HURD has a lot of potential as the first true microkernel/fully modular kernel. Much of the original image of GNU has faded away too. Emacs was the example of what a GNU program should look like, highly modular, and customizable using LISP.
Landon Parker
>the first true microkernel/fully modular kernel.
But it's built on top of a Mach kernel.
Robert Gonzalez
>GNU operating system What the fuck is that ...
Evan Jones
GNU is an operating system without a kernel. It has all the core utilities that an OS needs besides the kernel.
The security of GNU software is pretty fucking abysmal, so not really. >muh shellshock >muh glibc dns exploit (how you fuck up that badly I'll never know)
Blake Roberts
>Hurrr!! I, Pajeet the tripfag, declare the author of the GPL worthless,
Mason Russell
Paid MS trolls are getting desperate for things to attack as their marketshare goes lower and lower thanks to forced Win10.
Just give it up, Microsoft. Go out on top. Take all the money in the world and run. This is a fight you cannot win.
DO NOT REPLY TO PAID MS SHILLS
Joseph Cox
No shit. RMS is a turobutthurt loser who has to take credit for Linux because he hasn't done anything in 20 years.
Aaron Robinson
desktops in general are getting lower marketshare
James Wilson
>It has all the core utilities that an OS needs apart from the ones used to interface with the hardware
A proper OS alright!
Jose Scott
Fat man fags will defend this
Alexander Carter
>Elon Musk Project
NOOOOOOOOOOOO
Landon Richardson
So if HURD finishes, will it be called GNU or GNU/HURD?
Matthew Nguyen
Retards will keep calling it Linux.
Joseph Brooks
Stallman will probably just call it GNU, because it's the 'official' kernel of the FSF.
