How fast are the i3 skylakes compared to Nehalem or Sandy Bridge i7's for example? Are they really that fast or is it just a meme? Are the good bang-for-buck? Not for gaymes but for software development.
A i3 skylake chip for 150 seems a really good deal.
Skylake i3 still trades blows with fx6300, especially when you oc the fx. But ram speeds on the i3 give it much better performance in games and modern applications.

>What line of skylakes? i7s?
I'm not lying.

old i5 4690 here
Cant overclock but will it bottleneck say a 1080 or 590x at 1080p?
Easton Long
>price performance comparison Kek
No. My i7 870 wouldn't even be a bottleneck except for the most cpu intensive applications and games.

Synthetic benchmarks are utterly meaningless.

...so your arbitrary assessment is more relevant?

op here, im just trying to find out does it feel fast, as an older i7?
Imagine scenrao, i have an old shitty i3 from 2010. I press a link in a browser. A few things can happen:
1) It overheats and throttles 2) It overheats and shuts down loosing all my work 3) It takes a few light years to open the shitty link 4) The web browser will crash (and then it will overheat and crash the sytem) 5) It over heats, then chrome crashes, and then the PC locks up. I then proceed to throw the PC out of the window and jump through the window following the flying pc.
Sup Forums, do they WORK? Are they shit?

Those i3 skylakes have extremely beefy performance when looking at single core performance. Great for most games.
If your programs are heavily multithreaded then they lag behind.

> i have an old shitty i3 from 2010 Remove heatsink and reapply paste.
Alternatively replace your fans and or heatsink

>implies that a memelake i3 can beat a 2600k by %70 >gets disproved with benchmark >waah synthetic
If your memelake i3 was actually better it would beat the 2600k easily in passmark. Since you think passmark is inaccurate, why don't you show me a benchmark in which a 6300 beats the 2600k. Go on, I'm waiting.

I3 6100 is more powerful than an i5 2500 and fx6300.
Kevin Perry
>I3 6100 and fx6300 The (not overclocked) 6300 should be a few percent faster if all cores are used. Then again, how many programs use all 6 cores.
A 2500 should be faster than the i3 6100 when there are at least 3 cores in use.
Tyler Moore
>I3 6100 is more powerful than an i5 2500 and fx6300. >moving goalposts >damage controlling this hard
You could have at least chosen two CPUs that the 6100 can actually beat.

> why bother upgrading to shitty skylake when it is cheaper to get sandy shit
