7zip > winrar
who pays for winrar?
Linux
firefox > explorer
I do
Wine > Windows
CUPS print server
>Chris Sawyer wrote all of his games in x86 assembly
>Navigating your file system with a web browser
Vim > Notepad
vim > sublime
Most games used to be coded in Assembly
Every NES, SNES and GameBoy game, for instance
Vim > Windows 10
? firefox doesnt work for my task bar
Emacs > Windows
Anything > NTFS > HFS+
Anything > Windows 10
OpenMW
7-Zip
VLC & MPV
qBittorrent
Firefox & Chromium
Mono/Xamarin
Vulkan
based.
KVM > VirtualBox
7z is not better than winrar
libreoffice >msoffice
desu
Fucking oath this.
Ive been watching openMW dev for about a year now and six months ago it was already more impressive than vanilla morrowind, their releases since then have been nothing short of astonishing, really.
This could completely revitalize the game in terms of graphical and gameplay quality if the modding community got behind it, which i hope they do, there's so much support for different systems in this and it could seriously become a cult favorite in under a year.
Much love.
MW meme.
Is it even close to playable?
>inb4 let's write it in D
>inb4 let's rewrte all the code in C++
Why do Winfags use such a shit filesystem?
That's not roller coaster tycoon.
Is this using the FUSE ntfs driver because that thing is slow as fuck
Rollercoaster tycoon was written on top of transport tycoon deluxe engine. Originally Chris wanted to make a sequel to transport tycoon deluxe but he got really obsessed with rollercoasters and the entire project changed.
>The development of OpenTTD was driven by the desire to extend the abilities of Transport Tycoon Deluxe to support user-made additions to the graphics and gameplay. Also, users wanted to play the game on more modern operating systems and alternative computer architectures which Transport Tycoon Deluxe did not support, being released in 1994 for DOS and programmed in assembly language.

eat shit, retard
gimp > photoshop
OBS, that's the only thing I can think of. For the rest, more than 90% of proprietary software is just better than free alternatives.
I disagree. I use Affinity Photo as a non-subscription alternative to photoshop
fuck you adobe and fuck your creative cloud
ITT: Mostly wrong answers
>moeshit reaction image
you could have yielded more (You)s if you didn't instantly flag it as a bait shitpost with that attachment
x264
OpenSSH
NSS, LibreSSL, GnuTLS
ffmpeg(mpv, mplayer, mpc-hc, vlc, etc)
firefox, thunderbird, chromium
krita > photoshop
haha
funny joke
NTFS was tested on Windows, while the rest were tested on some Linux
Fuck off with your shitty bait.
Kek
...
zdnet.com
lmao xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
well winrar still better than 7kekz.
>GIMP
>can not even select multiple layers
bugzilla.gnome.org
GTK File Select 2.0 right here
Sure it is
Great argument.
Why would you want to play that outdated game when you could be playing skyrim instead.
Fuck off, you're not baiting anyone here
but how? how did they do it? this question still puzzles me to this day although ive read many answers on the subject on stack overflow
t. noob in programming
Puddletag > mp3tag
Openhardwaremonitor > HWinfo64
MicroG > Google Play Services
OBS > Shadowplay/Plays.tv
They're already patched.
Are there any video editing programs that come close to paid software?
The same way any computer is programmed.
windows movie maker is honestly not terrible
& free as in beer
Jokes on you, it's already fixed in 16.00
U MAD, FAGGOT?
>The flaws were fixed in 7-Zip 16.00, which was released Tuesday.
Assembly is you basically writing a program by telling it exactly what memory addresses to edit and what values to put in those addresses. It's extremely tedious but its not really difficult grasp if you know what you're doing.
LaTeX
Is there even any proprietary alternative to LaTeX (Office suites don't count)?
Everything>Cortana
AIMP>(any music player)
Bitcoin>(fiat)
Exact Audio Copy>(any other ripper)
there's a thing called Arbortext Advanced Print Publisher but it seems like the main proprietary alternatives are either office suites (which as you said dont really count) or things like Adobe InDesign which focus more on the design aspect than the typesetting
yeah, assembly's more tedious than it is difficult
i find it even easier to do than all those higher level languages, to be honest
My only problem with this is that it requires a better computer than my core2duo thinkpad.
I wish they could try for getting close to the older system requirements for underpowered systems.
They're not targeting your older machine. You're going to have to fork the codebase to make it work on your older machine.
Gimp
Blender
With plugins they can do anything non-free software can, maybe it's because I've spent so much time using them, but I find them overall better.
Have you tried it after they made the engine switch? The OSG-version performs a LOT better.
Rom hacking general is a pretty good place to lurk if you're interested in that kind of thing.
>Gimp
>Blender
are not serious competitors to proprietary software like PS or Maya/3Ds
>"what game is that? I'll try it!"
>play 15 minutes
>fuckin headache
>uninstall.
Note the deficiencies in Blender versus 3DS. "I'm not used the interface" is not an answer.
Why does HFS+ get shit on so much? What's NTFS got that it doesn't?
My dad did. He figured it was pretty fair since he used it a lot.
rtorrent > qBittorrent
How can I get openmw-osg to install? I've just been using the Ubuntu Openmw PPA
>Note the deficiencies in Blender versus 3DS.
Let's just pick the #1 result on google instead of going through them all.
tdt3d.com
Blender lacks or falls short in:
Industries populated
Company support for single users
Supports reactivities for single users
DVD training
DXF
IGES
No.
rtorrent doesn't even have a GUI.
at least say "transmission>qbittorrent" if you're going to b8.
They switched with 0.37, there should be no additional steps.
So you're probably running the OSG version if you've played/updated the game in the past 5 months
No
Shortcut for basic stuff though
I got really into OpenTTD back in 2010 or so. Once I got over the steep learning curve, it was tons of fun for awhile.
Then I tried playing against the AI and never played again. That's some next-level shit right there.
Blender might be the worst program I have ever used.
The assembly code makes calls to a graphics library such as opengl (not sure if that's what they used back then but same idea).
You mean because it's cooler to use command line tools? In Terms of code production speed sublime is way better!
Strange. It runs slow as hell on the hardware I'm on. It's a core2duo intel thinkpad X200 with 8GB RAM and a iGPU.
Shut the fuck up, dumbass. You still have to pay for the superior Rollercoaster Tycoon
>he doesn't know about OpenRCT2
You might be the worst user blender ever had
Anyone know of a good image mounting software that works with old games, other than Alcohol 52%? There's got to be one.
Wincdemu
Windows 10
WinCDEmu for previous Windowses.
I like virtualclonedrive for older windows versions.
Windows 8 and higher can do it themselves.
notepad++ > vim
this
haha no.
maybe
office > libre > notepad.
>2016
>ignoring the difference between free and gratis
shiggydiggy
>2016
>arbitrarily exchanging "free", "libre" and "gratis"
who the fuck says "gratis software"
free: as in beer
libre: as in liberty
>Then I tried playing against the AI and never played again. That's some next-level shit right there.
The guys that made it are wizards which means the AI is a wizard, just enjoy the worldbuilding and have fun.
