He doesn't even program any more. Also, he writes shit code.
Pic related, it's an objectively better programmer.
Me
John Carmack
Just because I want to see if anyone here recognizes him.
>he writes shit code
can you elaborate?
Why are all good programers white?

Steve Jobs, the fucker basically MADE Apple what it is today. Anyone else is either a dumb Linux meme or some Winshit cuck
...
>we use a 'K' instead of a 'C' so kids know we're hip and cool!
This. Although, I'd also put some money on pic related.
mmm i would cum all over their pantyhose covered legs
desu lads
step aside plebs
He wasn't a programmer. Get out
me bro, check out this machine learning
Who is he?
i'd like to enter the KreampieKarlie scholarship competition, if you catch my drift
I'll give you a hint; he works in a buzzword compliant industry.
Richard 'The Interjectionist' Stallman

Not just my favorite programmer, but gods too.
Based Terry.
That sentence sounds like something a high school student would write to get their essay to the required length
where can I see his code?
fucking retards
outside maymays.
how bout denny richards, the guy that invented C and unix (I think)?
...
>Hurr, I don't know who Ken Thompson is.
Dennis Richards passed on, Thompson's still kicking, working on Go.
He is Matei Zaharia right? That's what Google says. But why do you consider him the best programmer?
en.wikipedia.org
I dunno bro, but I'm sure he's top 5 in CS history.
I guess number 1 would be alan turing.
I don't.
>Just because I want to see if anyone here recognizes him.
His group at Berkeley have done some impressive work though.
>Alan Turing
>programmer
I'm done.
Also, OP >implied that it was currently living programmers.
This guy. Was a shitload more productive than Ritchie, too.
yeah, I get his point.
I'm sure it would be Linux then.
Skynet in the making right there
Oh, I see.
Mah men
I'm still waiting for it next project
Chris Sawyer
Nigger can't even bring his own community together to make one desirable OS instead of 500 forks that don't work for anyone who has a life.
this guy.
>le dream in code
>people still believe it's impressive for a teenager to program
absolute AIDS
normie people believe anything that a child does is impressive. Once they grow up however, they just stop giving a shit about them.
On the other hand, the thought process is about the same for puppies and cats. Its just normie logic.
OpenBSD
LibreSSL
Eric Himmler aka alienBOB
...
His kernel doesn't even support threads wtf
Ritchie was really fucking overrated honestly. Unix was Thompson's invention and the C programming language is basically a few small additions to the B programming language which was again, Thompson's invention. Ritchie is circlejerked though because idiots like to feel smug by lamenting how forgotten he is compared to Jobs because both died at around the same time, while simultaneously themselves ignoring the death of McCarthy, who was far more important.
Still a really smart guy with some great contributions, but overrated.
i think you described stallman more than linus
linus at least looks at the code and approves it
Me
This!
If they're actually reading code complete, then #kodewithkarlie is pretty good
He's doing cray shit with Racket and the Rift. Can't wait to program me some Occulus stuff in my favorite language.
...
...
>no Carmack yet
fags
see
He's normie knowledge territory.
>implying I read instead of look at the photos
and not really to be honest family
...
Eich.

How would you measure them in order to define the "best" programmer?
My favourite programmer is Stroustrup, btw.
He's Chinese.
Ken Thompson
Depends on what type of programming. For low level, and also my favorite, probably Moore.
>difference between open source and proprietary programmers:
>Larry Ellison owns a Mig-29 that he actually flys
>Linus Torvalds gets his name stenciled on the side of an F-16 just so he can get his picture taken pointing at nothing
nope
Yep Ken is a good choice
Pra' bob
Bugfest mcbugface
Bjarne Stroustrup.
Many modern OO languages are modelled after C++. The foundation he laid is rock solid.
The best programmer in the world is undoubtedly some random guy working in a shitty job not getting the appreciation he deserves. The chance of the best someone at anything being one of the tiny amount of famous people in the world is infinitesimal, even if you account for the fact that if you are skilled it's probably more likely that you become famous.
this guy gets it
that doesn't even work :l
>pure cancer
