Windows 10 has caused me nothing but fucking problems since I was literally forced to download it. I went AFK for about 20 minutes doing work stuff and when I come back it's updating my operating system to Windows 10 as if the gods had taken a big turd on my mouse and made it click to install it. I let it install and didn't revert as I had heard it wasn't that bad, this was last week. I haven't been able to get on to any of my steam games since I installed it, I've tried troubleshooting, I've checked all my network stuff, I've even fucked around with the firewall, and no changes whatsoever. I would normally say that it's down to steam or something I had done but this has happened since the day I got Windows 10. I'm getting error after error after error which didn't happen at all before. Fucking rediculous, I want my windows 7 back you extortionate bastards. I'm this close to reeing down your customer support line.

This is your fault for not disabling win10 updates
You should be able to roll back to Windows 7 with in 30 days. But sometimes the rollback fucks up too, so backup your stuff and be prepared to do a clean install.

I'd have to yank out my SSD and hook it up to my old PC to get the drivers over because I get no USB support on this MoBo if I try to use Win7. Is 10 really that intrusive, I can't seem to even find an up-to-date bat file, everything is like a year old near enough.

If you dont mind do a fresh install of 10 after backing your things up see if this fixes things i had all kinds of issues with 10 tilll i made a completely fresh install
so besides turning off their relevant privacy settings (I really couldnt give a shit about cortana and would only upgrade to have the performance boosts people are supposedly going to be having) what else do I need to do?
If I move to 10 it's with the intention to have it ''as 7-like'' as possible if that makes sense

Well that's why I'm torn, I'd have to fiddle around with my new build and hook the ssd up to another pc with a sata usb cable to put the drivers I otherwise can't get onto it for win7 to then be usable. With 10 I get no such problem, but the constant whining over it and forced updates do leave me on the fence.
just download UWT4 and check everything = win7 and better

I am thinking about buying an ultrabook, the Asus ZenBook UX305 to be precise. It comes pre-installed with Windows 10, I believe it was originally shipped with Windows 8 when it was first released. I have Windows 7 on my laptop atm, and I dont really want to have Windows 10 as it seems shit and intrusive. If I buy the Asus with Windows 10 pre-installed, would I be able to do a clean install of Windows 7 on it? Or would there be driver issues? Also would it run like shit cause it has been designed for Windows 10?
I have searched for the answer to this on google and the links in the sticky but all the results seem to be for people who upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and then want to go back.

They even released a tool to add the USB drivers to bootable win7 USB sticks, but that didn't work for me and kept failing. So I used /cmd to manually update the .boot and .install wim to be able to actually use my mouse/kb on the win7 install set-up screens.
Once I got to the desktop, I have no mouse wheel functionality and the USB ports do not work for anything but the mouse/kb, adding to that the lack of a CD drive and no network drivers = Forced to use a sataUSB cable to move them on there.
I hear you. I think Numix Frost Light is as close to perfection as you can get to a OS theme, so I like flat stuff, but Windows flat just looks shit.

I've noticed alot more problems when updating directly from 7 and not going the 7 -> 8 -> 8.1 route. But I guess that's what happens when you push a whole new OS as an update.

I just did some research and since doom is an opengl game there's basically 0 performance loss.

I genuinely quite enjoyed Windows 10 at first but sadly it managed to break Podfarm UX2 and Cubase Elements 7 which I use for creating music
I had to downgrade which was a pain in the arse itself (took ages with a few hiccups, now programs are loading a lot slower than usual)
I will go back to Windows 10 eventually, but I think that will be after I've upgraded my drivers and audio interfaces/software
But looks like I'm going to have to sort out a backup solution just in case because I'm not sure how long my computer is going to last after all this fucking around.
This is the major culprit in Windows 10 where games and applications become blocked and throw errors. Happened with battle.net as well.
You need to enable sideload apps to make things run properly.
