A friend of mine did with a list of parts I gave her. Her fucktarded roommate tried to help however because he "knows computers". The dumbass somehow stacked two 200mm fans on top of each other because he somehow didn't realize there was a stock one installed and then wondered why the heatsink wouldn't fit. Among a few other things I had to explain how he fucked up and how she could fix his fuck ups. I can't remember anymore specific examples but they were all very clear signs he had no clue what he was doing.

My first girlfriend built her own computers, read Slashdot and Wired daily, used a modded DS, and was compiling Linux on old laptops in her spare time. She had me teach her desoldering and PCB repairs. I gave her a used drill press as a gift once.

She's a brilliant scientist who didn't have an understanding of how emotions effected most people. I think a traumatic childhood ground them out of her. Two years of dating Data from TNG wore me out and we had to end it.

Yeah, I've seen this a lot. But the kind of interest that comes out in the arts isn't usually compatible with knowledge/information based nerd types, like history or technology. Something about the the way the fun is processed.
