w-what's wrong with ghostery?
Why you guys user NoScript? It sucks having to be setting all pages.
Redundant and it's developed by an advertising company
what are some better alternatives then
Autism. The real question is why use NoScript when uMatrix exists.
You already have it ublock origin does the same shit, by default even I believe. Enable anti-tracking script and it blocks the same crap.
Is there a good substitute for DownloadHelper? I was thinking of FlashGot.
Use RequestPolicy. It may be a bit cumbersome at the beginning, but once you whitelist your most frequented websites, it becomes an amazing tool.

He already has ublock origin there's no point in using requestpolicy.

I didn't notice that. Good point.

OP here,
I typically find that ublock origin breaks sites that Ghostery does not, so when I have to whitelist a site in ublock for functionality, I retain the tracking protection of ghostery.
The only addon I use is ublock origin. Basically everything I need was incorporated into firefox or ublock origin or was optional to begin with and I just learned to live without it.

Why not combine NoScript and uBlock Origin? If you're into minimalism, uMatrix will replace them both.
do you constantly take screenshots of pages? if so, why?

HttpSwitchboard did but then it got split into the two separate addons.

Enable disconnect filters in ublock and uninstall that proprietary trash.
My question is, what can uBlock Origin do that uMatrix can't? I've used both and found uMatrix to be much more thorough. Using both at the same time seems redundant.
uBlock is pattern-based/cosmetic-based filtering (EasyList etc.), while uMatrix is matrix-based filtering.

read threads before posting in them please
yeah, I've actually read that post before. What I'm saying is that uMatrix does blocking that uBlock can't do. So why would you use uBlock at all?
uBlock Origin only exists, as gorhill even says, because it's easier. If you use uMatrix, there's literally no reason to use uBlock Origin.
Why would you have some sites blocked based on a pattern and some sites blocked base on a matrix? It gets really muddy. Why not block everything with one add-on, the more powerful one, uMatrix?
>Why would you have some sites blocked based on a pattern and some sites blocked base on a matrix? It gets really muddy. Why not block everything with one add-on, the more powerful one, uMatrix?
Because sometimes you only want to block SOME elements of a type on the site.
Here's an example: what if the site you're visiting is hosting its own image advertisements? If you want to block those ads using uMatrix then you end up blocking ALL images on that subdomain, including the normal images that you want to see. With uBlock you can create rules to only block those ads and leave the other images alone.
WOT is worthless
>I typically find that ublock origin breaks sites
I'd bet it's your plugins/plugin implementation
I'd also bet that you're on windows
if they're not on the chrome store they might be on the opera one
>With uBlock you can create rules to only block those ads and leave the other images alone.
oh that's right, so you're referring to the element blocking. I use Stylish for that and make my own CSS rules, but it may not work as well as uBlock Origin when an ad element has no class or id
Fag is timeless.

Are you one of those people that downloaded a bunch of privacy addons without understanding how they work?
block_all_the_things.jpg
You just need to allow JavaScript globally and use NoScript to other ends.
me neither. I disable it because I don't know what it does.
Actualy they're working together.

uBlock Origin and HTTPS Everywhere are literally all you need for regular use, anything more is just bloat.
but those don't control
>HTTP referer
>cookies
>user-agent
replace uBlock Origin with uMatrix and you can take care of all these things.
what's wrong with this, somebody tell me.
it can't be that heavy, can it?
Use the console, numbnuts.

Your image title is confusing RAM with CPU, but yeah, HTTPS Everywhere is notoriously a resource hog on chrome/chromium browsers. I don't think it's quite as bad on Firefox.
good list, one of the best I've seen in the thread. nothing redundant.
now get something to control the HTTP Referer (e.g. RefControl) and you'll be good to go :D
I'm not retarded, you angry turd.
Yes, I mistook one for the other.
It didn't work on firefox for me though, pages would still use http.
