Used stuff: Memory: 4GB used, maybe 8gb if I can catch a good deal *** VGA: Used, around 70-80$ ***
She wants to browse kikebook, watch jewtube, play vidya (Sims 3, 4, etc for example). I checked the 880K's Passmark info, it's got a better single thread perf than my i7-950.
Questions: 1) How shitty this build is for the tasks above? I know it's not a maxed out i5 or i7, but the budget is tight here, as you can see.
2) Should I go for a lower model (CPU), and buy an EVO 212 or something for it? I know that the stock Intel cooler is absolute dogshite, my i7 950 regurarly overheated at loads. It also ran at 85-90C at load, and was loud as fuck.
> inb4 sqt This would have been a lengthy post there, and it's not a question like: "how do I code C++?"
*** - There is a good local site with trusted sellers, it's 99% I won't get scammed. Bought GPUs, CPUs, memory, everything from here already, never had an issue.
> inb4 why not i3 or Pentium Some games already bitch for 4 cores, and I know even the games that came out weeks ago mostly use 1 or 2 ... but I can't really Teamviewer all the times to fix games and shit because they refuse to start.
Isaiah Campbell
Bumperino.
Sebastian Smith
I didn't think it's that hard to say it's shit or there is anything better, etc.
Nolan Harris
>Some games already bitch for 4 cores They bitch about 4 threads not coes, i3 can run games just fine (unlike Pentium).
I don't like this build at all, 600W PSU is an overkil, FM2+ is outdated, OC'ing such a meh CPU is a waste of time and money.
- It doesn't have a dedicated GFX, but HD530 will run Sims or basic stuff like Dota2, LoL or CS:GO with no problems. - You could always add dedicated GFX later. - I replaced HDD with SSD since it improves quality of life a lot. - even stock i3-6100 will blow OC'd X4 out of the water.
Julian Williams
Thank you. I will take that i3 advice.
The PSU is 600W because its a Chinese piece of shit. If she could afford a normal one, I would put a Corsair or Seasonic inside. The dedicated GPU might need 500 or 550W anyway.
The SSD is a valid point, but I skipped it entirely, I will just give her one of my 1TB hard drives and call it a day. With a HDD/SSD, the build would become even shittier.
As I mentioned in OP, I will have to find 4-8gigs of used ram and a proper used gaming GPU too.
BUT, the i3 is a very good advice, I thought they only have 2 cores and no HT. I only used i5 and i7 CPUs so far, and i5 got 4 real cores, i7 got 8 threads (4HT+4normal).
Lucas Lewis
Save up some more money. Are you twelve or just lazy?
Tyler Cooper
>310$ $310* this is simple shit user
Daniel Peterson
fm2+ is fucking shit 8gb is barely enough these days so get that ??? Tell your sister/gf to save up a bit more if she wants to play games stretch that budget to $500
Kayden Harris
Yeah the first line got erased. It's for my sister, she is bad with money, she cannot save up really, and makes bad financial decisions. (She is old btw.)
And she wants to buy a PC now. So I am trying to help her before she ends up with some pre-built shit with an APU.
Fuck off Randy. We use EUR shekels over here.
> 8gb is barely enough For you. And for me.
But for her, for a single game at a time? And when she browses on the web, one page for kikebook, and one for jewtube?
Even with Chrome that should work...
Levi Collins
sorry ursula but fuck your euros

Check reviews on the 845 it has performance comparable to oced 880Ks.
Jonathan Phillips
>and a proper used gaming GPU too. No. You absolutely don't need a discrete GPU to play Sims.
Tyler Howard
well I played the SIMS 3 and 4, it runs with 20-30 FPS on a GTX260.
So it does need some hardware. Trust me, it looks like shit, it's shit, and it runs like shit.
John Green
yeah but the i3 the first user mentioned beats both by a far margin.
CoDAW need i5 minimum because they can't run in fake cores. it can't even run in 720p setting and all minimum with i3.
Lincoln Rogers
Just get an am3+ mobo with an fx-4300, even with the stock cooler its decent. 400W is more than enough for a build like that. Go for the 8gb ram, its worth it.
Other solution.
Ditch the vga get a nice 4 core apu ith 8 gigs of ram. 400W is still more than enough.

Search for 200$ dark soul 3 pc

Digital Foundry seems to run it just fine at 1080p@60fps on i3-4130
get an FM2 board and get a 7870 APU don't get a GPU, APU is fine for normie games and facebook. Just get fastish ddr3
Andrew Edwards
Funny, my i3 sandy was shitting it self on release day.
Colton Edwards
It was probably a software issue or drivers
Landon Nelson
Just flashed a nightly cyanogen for my phone (peregrine). Turns out that quick settings doesn't work... do you think it's because of the nightly? Nothing was mentioned in the thread.
Nolan Murphy
whoops sorry, it was mentioned after all.
so then instead: i know i dont have to wipe when upgrading, but do i do it when downgrading?

This for absolute cheapest quad core that cam play games decently. Buddy of mine was playing dark souls 3 with it and getting consistent 30fps. Either this or the apu recommendation from another user should do fine.

all that ddr4 meme
Samuel Flores
well back in the days it offered real value (Athlon), and I never really had such a shit low budget to build a PC.
I knew an i5 is powerful and shit, but they cost a lot more than the picked AMD, or the new i3 CPU, so that's why I picked an AMD.
I do hope games will run for her, but yeah she only plays with major titles and shit, so I don't worry that much.
It's okay son, I will go for DDR3 anyway. DDR4 costs damn much and you can't get a used one anyway. (The cheaper I get 8gig, the more money I can put into the used card - the more chance it won't burn.)
Ryder Ward
Ok, so i need to get a password recovery mail from a mail adress that no longer exists. I DO own and control the domain, but i have no mailserver?
What's the easiest course of action here? The domain is currently pointed to a raspberry pi via dynamic dns.
Blake Collins
one day a fag came to me to make him a build for X ammount of money he wanted sume bullshit ddr4, waht i did was just show him ddr3 with higher clockspeeds and for the same price
Easton Stewart
Uhm go to Zoho, create account, make the address. Set up MX records.
Wait a few hours, request the reset mail.
I really don't understand why they brought DDR4 on the market, it's literally useless. APUs and iGPUs are not getting any more useful with them either, they are just "new". I thought we will have cheaper modules with bigger capacity, but that never happened.
Isaiah Lee
can i configure a mailserver to collect all addresses under my domain?
Michael Davis
Wait nigga, first you want X, now you want Y. You can do that, but then you have to set up your own mail server on a VPS, or your rpi.
You need a mail stack, then some config that will deliver all unknown address mails to your postmaster or whatever mailbox.
So yeah. On Zoho you can set up aliases btw, so you can have one account, and just add aliases.
Keep in mind I run into the next problem all the time: - register on service with account [email protected] - use service with login of [email protected] - try to use their helpdesk, support, mail them.. with [email protected] - and then they start bitching how it's not a registered mail at them, blah blah blah.
Even though I replied to their fucking ticket, that they sent to x_alias.
Liam Davis
you never really have to wipe. as long as your phone boots, and your shit does not break, you are good.
in case it does not boot, you have some issue, just use the recovery menu to wipe.
btw use "Super Backup" and some other backup tools to keep your data safe. with cyanogen, you are never safe.
also I hate CM/custom roms. they work fine at home, for the first few days, but then: - end up at the end of the city, gps is broken now - want to use Maps in car, it worked all the time, now my mobile connection is gone and I can't get it back - need to do an emergency call, the other person cannot hear me - need to receive a call, I cannot accept
I mean, fuck this. It's not a phone, it's a toy with CM/roms.
