Got a phd in comp sci

>got a phd in comp sci
>can't even get a job at the fucking geek squad

Experience trumps all you fucking retard.

>get phd in comp sci
>can't even get a job at the fucking automated mcdonalds

>no degree
>get job at Walmart
>the actual work sucks but it pays $10.50/hr and I get about 32 hours a week

Feels good

>$10.50/hr
>feels good
I'd hate to be you before that.

Annnd another one fell for the uni meme...

$1300/mo is middle class income in many countries, mate.

Also: Working, even at a low-tier job, is much more honourable than begging the government for handouts.

>be male
>have a natural drive to contribute to society in some way because that's how men derive pleasure from life
>automation comes
>men put out of jobs
>suicide rates rapidly increasing
>only smart males survive
>finally escape this damned monogamy trend that's hampering humanity
Let's hope. Eugenics should have been enforced long ago.

>things that never happened

get a job at Best Buy in Computers/DI, then apply for the next GeekSquad position that frees up. If you're a good employee and fit the bill, they'll fast track you to the top of the selection list.

1300 is poverty level in developed countries.

dude kys

>have spent the equivalent of a Doctorate degree at Sup Forums
>can't even land a janitor position

the first line of what you wrote hurts you, not helps.

>phd in comp sci
what were you thinking?

check'd

So strange, this "purchasing power". Live in a first world country, earn more, live worse.

Wasted on a tripfag

>implying that's bad
I'm working towards a Doctorate in British literature. I'm the fucked one

>Got an associates in information technology
>Can't even get a volunteer position with cyber seniors

>study Ruby on Rails for a month
>send dozens of applications everyday
>got a job as a full-time Junior developer, and I'm still in college

>$10.50/hr
>no benefits
>feels good

It'll feel good until your first major hospital trip and you're up to your eyeballs in $10,000+ minimum debt.

I think that you can get a barista position with that although competition might be a little intense in this job market

^this
is real

>do b school for undergrad
>get job at an ibank before graduation
:^)

For real, though: If you're good in a scientific field and you can't get a decent job, you need to focus on rounding out other areas of your professional profile (which for most people here means figuring out how to not be an aspie), because there's something about you that must be terribly off-putting.

>using the smiley with a carat nose

>comp sci
Masters? Yes.
Phd? No.

The Phd process just pretty much scrambles the brains of CS kiddies and makes them completely unusable for business purposes. Trying to talk them is useless since everything turns into a thesis defense.

>working on degree
>weekend security guard
>job is easy, pay is ~$13/hr after taxes
>benefits if I work 30+/wk
Git gud sempai

I am so glad I didn't do a PhD in Comp Sci, I was even offered full paid tuition for it. Why delay the fact I will just be a NEET after graduating?

> Get a bachelor's in IT
> Can't even get a job at a fucking REDBOX kiosk

>things that never happened
post a timestamp with your degree

> looks like you are overqualified for this position, sorry
Translation
> holy shit you have a PhD? There is no way we are going to pay you enough that you don't fuck off as soon as something else comes along

ITT: People who don't understand over-qualification.

Nobody believes OP will stay with the job and don't want to train a 2 month employee.

post a timestamp with your degree

Does this meme require you to spell caret incorrectly?

I'm not op

Also, I'm not doxxing myself ding dong

>have a natural drive to contribute to society in some way because that's how men derive pleasure from life
Wait, what? Shit if this is legit I might be transgendered or something.

You can cover your name.

Tits or GTFO

Im good, you'd all just make fun of my school anyway. I know I would, besides the REDBOX thing was a joke.

Don't worry, the free market will fix it.

Should've taken a fuzzy logic class

300k starting

>automation comes
>men put out of jobs
They have been saying this since the 1800s, Still waiting.

B-But I don't have any.

>automation comes
fuck off luddite

>get a bs in comp sci
>get a 6 figure job out of college

You dun goofed OP

You can get a bachelors in IT?

Apparently so

>phd in anime
>literally a full time le weeb hikki NEET
feelsgoodfrog.jpg

Yes. I just got one actually.

Businesses finally realized CompSci bachelors don't necessarily have a single fucking clue about computers and networks other than "if i rite progam i runz, if not i debug". TL;DR businesses are sick of having to train bachelors how to use ping and tracert.

Hard to believe, OP.

>dropout in high school
>spend days messing around gaming
>get into graphic design
>just doing small personal projects
>start doing some stuff for relatives for free and for chump change
>end up doing some work for a friends dads company
>get a few more jobs from companies
>start my own little business
>all is going well
>get offered job by some company
>turns out to be pretty big company
>tell them no thanks
>"we will pay for any equipment you need and after a year with us if you don't like it you can leave and take the stuff with you"

Fast forward 7 years and I'm still there and lead my own team

damn straight man, keep on keepin on

>got a phd in computer science
>can't even get a job cleaning balls

USA isn't a developed country, though.

nvidia won't let you shill for them? wat is this

Are you fucking retarded or just plain stupid?

I have a master's degree in CS, if you can't get a job that's entirely your own fault.

Should've gotten a PhD in math, 300k starting.

> 3 years worth of credits, no degree
> 8 years of independent study, last 4 years running a business making unity plugins
> Of those 8 years 5 were spent perfecting the same geometry library over and over
> Start applying for jobs randomly because tired of being poorfag (submitting code samples REALLY helps)
> Get offered $110k in SoCal maintaining a ball of C++ mud

The work isn't so bad, most of it is for an internal tool used in manufacturing.

However, even at this income, the living conditions turn out to be the same as making $12k in Wyoming living in a shed.

Killing myself becomes more appealing every day.

CS isn't about networking

This thread is great.

Sometimes I forget about my free healthcare in europe. Why is America so backward

>only smart males survive

You mean hyper-competitive, or just lucky.

We call such people "politicians"

There are a lot of associates degrees for shit like that.

>Got a Bachelors degree in Finance
>Can't even find an entry level job in Bank
>Minimum Masters required

>the living conditions turn out to be the same as making $12k in Wyoming living in a shed
bad hyperbole

>MSc in physics
>Unemployed for more than a year, trying to find a job
>Lacking proper experience in the field, competed by engineers or CS students who all seem much better prepared for an actual job
>Running out of money to sustain that lifestyle
>Now took a job as some sort of janitor in a facility for retards a 10 minute walk from here

At least the retards don't judge. I didn't even tell anyone of my coworkers that I have studied physics, I just told them I took some other jobs like that before. I am really ashamed of how it all turned out, but not quite ready for suicide at this point. I keep applying for jobs whenever something turns up, but after >50ish failed interviews I lost all confidence and motivation. I am even kind of scared before those now. I mean, I was nervous before, but now it feels really unhealthy. I had something like that back in school before PE classes. Just the whole atmosphere when waiting in front of the office drags me down like nothing else.

>got a Masters Degree in Culinary Arts
>can't even get a job at McDonald's

OP how is that possible? Even CS PhDs from mediocre schools can get code monkey jobs....

>fuzzy logic
You mean Economics?

>lie about degree
>only experience is making WP sites
>get a job as a software developer

> go get 1st level degree
> never bother with internships because you are academics now
> realize there is no job in the market
> go for masters
> still no job in the market
> ignore getting internship experience
> get phd
This is your fault. I barely finished bachelor's in shitty uni of eastern europe, am 24, currently living in the UK, mgirating to australia this autumn.
Get real experience, don't bother with salary because you have 0 knowledge beneficial to your employer. Then you have a job guaranteed.

You can't even be a bank teller?

I have a github that I posted directly on my resume. Do employers actually check it out or do I have to somehow submit code some other way? I applied to 20+ different places and didnt get a single call back. This is in Seattle btw.

I guess my code must be god awful or something.
