That said. If you still block ads, you have ten seconds to post why you do.
Excuses like these will only get you nowhere, especially if you're on a stable connection ;
- Adware/Malware/Spyware. Sure, the exception's there if you're dumb/stupid to enough to infect yourself somehow. - "I don't like ads" - Page load times. - "YouTube ads" are basically useless excuses now. You're either smart or dumb enough to not download YouTube videos and watch them in your preferred qualities and resolutions in your preferred media player(s) and likely dumb enough to not have autoplay disabled somehow. YouTube Red is basically YouTube ad-free, you've no excuse to even use your ad blocker here anymore.

Cleaner looking websites is my primary reason. If I visit a website, I am there for a reason. I only want what I came there for.
Also, I have clicked exactly zero ads in the days before adblocking, and I have clicked zero since. Feels good, mon.

I probably wouldn't block ads if it wasn't for those video ads that auto play at full volume on some sites.

Imagine a normie who goes on walks everyday decides one day they would like to buy a dog. The normie continues his walks and decides to take their walks with the dog but every time the dog is on a walk it constantly bark/yapped. Consistently. No amount of training fixes the issue. What would you expect the normie to do?
The only options are to either stop taking it on walks or to purchase a muzzle for the dog. So fuck you I do what I want by blocking obtrusive ad's.

Why is there no adblocker for retards posting bait?

Websites existed before monetisation became a priority, they will continue to exist afterwards. There is no reason to support advertising companies when the majority of the revenue goes to anyone but the content creator in the first place.
There are plenty of organic ways to market content without need to make intrusive, annoying popups and sidebars. If you need to make users like or share a page before allowing you to view content, you're not publishing content worthwhile of being liked or shared in the first place.
When was the last time you watched a shopping channel or something similar and thought, "Wow, I really shoud buy this junk. How ever did I do without this blender." That's the equivilent of todays advertisements online. Buy this snake oil, check out this freemium service, give us your details so we can profile and sell you crap.
If users don't stand up for a more ethical form of advertising, we will end up with a truly consumerist internet build solely around selling instead of sharing information freely. If I want to support a site, I will pay for a membership, subscription or donation. I do not however, concent to being made a product for advertising companies to share between each other in the hopes that I'll buy another seventeen shirts I don't need with money I could be saving or investing.

Because I hate ads.
I don't give a fuck if a nigga has to work harder to make a buck, that's not my problem. My problem is being assaulted with shit I don't even have the slightest want to even know about.
Im not going to inconvenience myself just because someone wants me to see the last 5 items I saw on Amazon 10k times, or because Google noticed I was looking at something new (Ex: look up vac ovens, across international ads fucking everywhere for the next 3 days).
Oliver Murphy
because besides Sup Forums, lainchan, 8ch an, wikipedia and some times reddit, the 'content' is literal trash. Go to a forbes.com article right now and look at the autoplaying videos, banners everywhere. Thats why I use adblock you faggot.
There's no point in not using one, if your computer is that slow use a host file that redirects ads to 0.0.0.0

Is this bait
Viruses being served directly through ads/Javascript exploits is commonplace nowadays.
Just recently Forbes, New York Times, and a bunch of other big-name sites got caught inadvertently serving malicious ads on their homepages. You wouldn't even have to click on it, just it being displayed was the attack vector.
Also a majority of sites have no scruples and shit up their site with big banner ads all over. and it makes browsing those sites worse.
The default behavior should be using an ad-blocker and disabling it for sites you choose to support through ad revenue, if you choose to.
Ryder Thompson

no, blocking ads is not stealing.
the ad company is paying the person with a web page to put their shit up. they are not paying you to view the ads, they are paying the other person to display them as requestable content.
the web is a pull medium. blocking ads is the moral equivalent of refusing to buy a beverage from a sponsor at a sports game.

I'm going to block ads. If this is somehow affecting your financials, I'm sorry. Sounds like something that falls firmly into the category of "not my fucking problem."
Evan Turner

Owen Robinson

Hunter Clark
Yeah, that's what I was trying to convey. Them trying to get money from their hobby by using ads isn't my problem, and them trying to use ads as a full time job isn't my problem either. The biggest reason for me definitely has to be the malware though
Jonathan King
Because all the malware we're talking about is from user interaction.
Give us a reason to enable ads apart from "the content creators need money" because in 2016, there's donation driven sites.

If I'm honest, it's the fucking tears about the business model that make me run custom hosts files.
>if YOU can't come up with a better business model than the one we have now then EVERYONE has to use the one we've already got! >YOU FUCKING HAVE TO! >I WANT MY MONEY! I'M ENTITLED TO THAT AD REVENUE!
No, you sad little shitfuck. You're not entitled to anything.
Patrick Contri comes immediately to mind. Patrick who can't go a whole ten minutes on any subject without suddenly remembering how much he hates adblockers and how those lost shekels are rightfully his. I wish I made as much money as he does to sit around and talk about video game crap that hasn't been relevant since either one of us were little kids. I'm 38 years old, and he can't be that far behind me. You'd think at his age, with a college degree and life experiences, he would understand how this works by now.
I'm not your employer. I don't owe you compensation. How do you not get this?
Chase Gutierrez
Compromised ad servers are a very real problem. You can sort of circumvent this by using a sandbox I guess but good lord, is that really what it's come to? I've stopped whitelisting because I want this model to hit rock bottom so that maybe all those involved will decide to finally fix their shit.
Also, I like cleaner looking pages. Oh, and of course there's the fact that I have absolutely no obligation to have these things downloading to my PC and I get a good laugh every time somebody suggests that I do.
While we're on the subject though, what happened to that Brave browser? Still going or did the ad companies get to them?
Brody Sullivan

Malware. A browser that actually works with modurrn sites you might NEED to access if you don't like automated phone systems is complex and probably insecure.
Shit content. If it's not from someone who can afford to host it as part of a wider business model, hosted out of pure dedication, or paywalled, it's guaranteed to be shit. You get what you pay for, and who's paying when a site serves ads? Not you, the advertiser. The advertiser didn't pay for a good site, they paid for fucking clickbait.
Sebastian Flores
I like ads. I like that small business are trying to reach out and pitch their product.
That being said, I'm a jew and I feel I'm smart enough that my future will turn out great, which means I have to take measures to save any bit of money I can

This is what yankees are told to believe.
Also, copying is theft because musicians deserve money for life should they make even one song that anyone wants to listen to ever, and scientists should have to beg for grants and get a limited period of royalties that eventually ends, necessitating more grand begging.
Xavier Cox
It doesn't even matter anymore all the popular youtubers get sponsored anyways to yap for 30-45s about some lame ass product anyways eventually all of them will be doing this instead of having pre-rolls.

> "YouTube ads" are basically useless excuses now. You're either smart or dumb enough to not download YouTube videos and watch them in your preferred qualities and resolutions in your preferred media player(s)...
Implying that downloading the videos is in any way less cumbersome than watching them on the site. For me it doesn't come down to what's the smarter approach, it comes down to which is the most convenient 90% of the time. If I like a video, then I will download it and watch it at my leisure.
That covers youtube. For every other somewhat reputable site I visit I can't not notice the amount of intrusive, and frankly annoying (OP saying that's not an excuse is faggotry in its purest form) advertisements that pop up. Taboola (not 100% sure if ad service, but serves clickbait, so close enough) and Outbrain are, to me, digital cancer that only succeed in making me angry.
Ayden Harris
