Why is OP a gigantic faggot?

That's as good of a question as why are all tripfags fucking retards?

Some people think its a choice while other people think its a mental illness.
I personally think its a lifestyle

Why is the sky blue?
Is real life the matrix?
Why does
ps3 have no games
What's the secret to happiness?

Is there a program to create a random file full of crap of a specified size?

okay explain this shit, how is two 480s running at 50% better than one 480 running at 100%?

why did they cap it at 50%? why not just get crossfire to run at 100% and absolutely wreck the 1080? protip; something fishy is going on

>why not just get crossfire to run at 100% and absolutely wreck the 1080?
because it wouldnt

well logically the frame rate would fucking double, right? there's no way amd would miss the chance to point this out if it did happen

That's not how Slave and Master systems work.

well I don't know about this shit but doesn't the GPUs draw every other frame, the CPU still managing it all and telling the GPUs what to do

not two cards combined to draw the same frame

I've been running memtest86 for over 10 hours. The only time the test fails is when I run my cpu in parallel (8 cores). Cores 1-7 will fail and will cause over 5 million errors from test 3 within 10 seconds causing my pc to turn off and restart. I tried one stick of ram each time. Same thing. I run specific cores 1-7 and they all fail. Running just core 0 leaves me with no problems. What should I do?

I did this test because I had restarts in 3d applications like CSGO or Overwatch. I tried to limit my framerates at 60 and it helped for one day but the next day I still had the problem.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master/slave_(technology)

that's what I looked up before posting a reply, read the first few lines and didn't understand how the fuck it applies to GPUs

One GPU renders half of a frame while the other renders the other half, the Slave sends its work to the Master to have it combined then displayed.

Would the answer to this question be the same as the answer to a question you would be unlikely to answer?

Suck my dick

Are you overclocked? If so, remove OC and retest.

>Tiocfaidh ár lá
Your lá has come and gone, your island and that of your oppressors are stains on the map of Europe. Please, sink into the sea you inbred islanders.

last time I looked this shit up it worked by syncing the cards so that one card is always rendering the next frame

>stains on the map of Europe
Greece, Germany and Sweden must be fucking shit smears in comparison

I am not OCed. I have OCed in the past but for the past month I haven't been OCed.

is there any way to remove very light scratches from a retina macbook pro display? my magsafe charger nicked the corner of the bezel and my autism is raging because of it

This works on any display, rub some vaseline/lip balm/coconut oil into the scratch, then wipe the excess away from the outer edge of the screen

You'd think so but no, the Democratic Peoples Republic of Ireland is worse. We're talking about a country that couldn't get electricity to the people until the late 50s. Water remains way below EU standards in huge portions of the country. Condoms were impossible to get a hold of until the 90s. Hell, every single idea their government has seems to have been gotten by looking at what the UK did horribly wrong and saying "Hey, we can do that too!" and then tremendously fucking it up. For all their bullshit nationalism they're just a shitty clone of Britain, which is a terrible enough place to begin with. Less than ten percent of them even speak their own language and that's despite everyone learning it from age FIVE and on.

Reset CMOS.

i heard about doing that, i was a little concerned with with protective coating used on top of the glass coming off if i scrub too firmly, but i'll definitely give it consideration. probably what i will have to do. appreciate it user

I have this subwoofer and Im really short on space in my desktop.
Is it retarded to place it 90’ under the screen?

Its fucking weird, most Potatoniggers I talk to are self aware at how retarded their government is yet they just let that shitshow keep happening

I like the Tony Blair era. He fucks up massively, goes up on stage, gives a speech meant to tug on your heartstrings and then gives the job to a fat old man who doesn't know how to pick a suit. Ireland watches intently and says "Hey, we can do that!". Ahern fucks up massively, gives a speech that is supposed to tug on your heartstrings and then gives the job to a fat old man who has no clue how to dress himself at all. Better yet, whole Brown was incompetent, Cowen was an incompetent alcoholic. Truly, they must be worse than Britain on all fronts.

I have all of my settings on default though. I don't see how resetting my BIOS would solve anything.

>I don't see how resetting my BIOS would solve anything.

That's why I am advising you reset it. Start with a known good default state. Sometimes firmware can be buggy. Have you ever updated your BIOS or is it stock?

How can I best stop myself from being tracked? Also, what's better, TOR, Freenet, I2P, or something else?

so I'm having problems trying to boot the pc. Memory and GPU are not the culprit, I've noticed the PSU fan spins a little when the comp is turned on and then stops after the beeping noises begin, is that a sign of a faulty PSU?

You would have to consult the manual for your motherboard. Find out what error the beeps correspond to.

Without more info it could be many things.

Don't connect to the internet.

It's updated and I have the settings on default. I know it by heart. I can understand where you are coming from but I've checked the BIOS several times.

it's constant long beeps, and the paper manual I still have says continuous long beeps means GPU not inserted properly, however I get the same error with 2 different gpus on either slot, something doesn't add up

Use Tails exclusively.

I've been waiting for a reason to post this.

why 3bar menu button on firefox gone?

Upgrading to Windows 10 is still a bad idea, right? But it's going to have to happen eventually, so why not get it for free? Or can I just download it and not install until a later date?

Just made a new pc with an i5 6500, 16gb ram.

I keep getting massive frame drops in Overwatch while running at only medium @ 1080p using both a 7790 and a 7870 GPU.
Other people with similar specs can pretty much max out the game at 1080p with no frame drops.

>what are some solutions i can try?
I`m going to try updating my motherboards BIOS when i get home from work.

What's CRUD and REST?
When I think of frameworks / libraries, Java JDBC and Hibernate, and Python pyODBC sound like CRUD-y stuff because it lets you connect to databases.
As for rest, I think of python's requests module, which literally lets you perform a GET, HEAD and POST. But it can't be just that, as people always make it out to be so difficult.

>I'm going to die eventually, why not just kill myself now?

I don't know much about computers and I wanted to get into gaming on a pc. Are there any downsides to gaming constantly on the integrated graphics of an i3-6100? Does it "burn" out the cpu more? I will add a graphics card two years down the road if I were to get a pc soon, but I am looking to play games like CSGO, warband, age of empires 2/3, killing floor, and maybe unreal tournament, which I don't think are too demanding.

>Are there any downsides to gaming constantly on the integrated graphics of an i3-6100?
No
>Does it "burn" out the cpu more?
No

How do I make extremely small text font size in latex. I mean like 0.1pt font here. I've already looked around and most methods of customizing font size will make latex shit out that it doesn't want to make text smaller than ~6pt.

they shouldn't be. Unless you're pushing your card to 80+ centigrade then you're good

Microshaft will never make you have to pay for win10. They realized how much more lucrative ads and office is for business than selling their OS

Your child porn downloading is safest if you use tails to download the content, and then save it on an external HDD that never gets connected to any computer but tails and a computer not connected to any network.

freenet is slow as shit. tor is fastest, but relies on expensive nodes that may be more easily compromised than i2p. i2p would be best if there were more than 10 eepsites alive at any given moment

CRUD means Create,Read,Update,Delete. "Business logic" apps tend to fall into that umbrella. Imagine an employee management webapp- you Create employee records when you hire someone, Read the database of employees to generate payroll and demographics reports, you Update records when someone changes their name or gets promoted, and Delete them when they quit. (Very simple example.)

REST is really just a certain way to organise API endpoints. The idea is that your URL structure and HTTP methods should match the meaning of the data.
>PUT /employees
>GET /employees/jane
>DELETE /employees/bob

Use the iGPU as much as you like, it won't break it. And it will be perfectly fine for CSGO.

>unreal tournament
Do you mean the original? The new one is very demanding, it's a UE4 game.

Lenovo TS430 mobo
2x4gb RAM
Hyper212

Is that worth 100€? My main PC is out of SATA slots and I've been thinking of building a FreeNAS with my spare i3 3220.

Okay, I need a backup solution. I have ~2.5TB of data that has either no backup at all or very outdated ones. Cloud isn't happening, my upload speed is awful.

What if I just get a 4TB HDD and a Raspberry Pi, plop Linux on it, use it as a NAS? I think there might be performance issues (USB2 interface, shares with 100mbit ethernet) but would it be sufficient in practice?

Why don't you just get a 4TB HDD and plug it into the same computer? Why do you need a server?

One, I have more than one device to back up.

Two, I want continuous backup without the backup device having to be directly connected to each machine's power supply and without the chance of being wiped by rogue software on a given machine.

Three, I want to use Time Machine and don't want to dedicate a drive or even partition to HFS+. With a network setup, the HFS+ TM backup can be stored in a container inside an EXT4/whatever volume.

why isn't pastebin working? its telling me the sites offline. its the only site not working and it works on my phone, but not a different browser

If you have ruled out the GPUs (i.e. they are known to work without fault in another computer), next thing to try would be swapping the PSU and connecting that to the motherboard that's giving you the issue. If the issue remains I'd settle for dodgy motherboard.

Thanks

Please correct me if I'm wrong with this.

Out of all the currently announced 3rd party GTX 1080 cards the ASUS ROG Strix seem to have the highest factory overclock.

This would mean that running at default the ASUS card would be the single currently best performing 1080 right?

Which one do i go for?

I have my laptop dual booted with ubuntu and windows 7. After I installed ubuntu and tried to load windows i get windows boot managar error.

What I want to do is get rid of ubuntu and fix my windows 7. Everything I've looked up online on how to fix it isn't working and I have no idea what to do.

I have tried reinstalling windows 7, starting with windows 7 disk and trying to repair with bootrec and all that bullshuit but nothing works.

I have also tried using boot-repair that was installed on ubuntu (not disk) and I cant get that shit to work even using it in a live session.

I'm not sure who to ask and I cant google my way out of this. If anyone can help please let me know.

Well in that case I don't see why your proposed solution wouldn't work.
Your only limiting factor would be transfer speed but that's not really a huge problem.

sorry for the awful double spacing holy fuck what did I do i guess i didnt realize

Does your laptop use BIOS or UEFI?

Gotta get a Computer for Final Cut Pro and I know nothing of Apple.
Apparently it'll run on anything, but I need a recommendation.
iMac from 2013 (ME088LL/A) has a 1GB 755M GPU, and a Haswell i5, 8GB ram. Seems Decent Enough?

bios

The Windows 10 upgrade will be paired to your computer hardware, so if you can you could do something like this:

>temporarily unplug all your old hard drives/ssds
>plug in an empty hard drive/ssd
>install your legit or pirated Win7 onto that hard drive
>as soon as its installed upgrade it to Win10
>unplug the hard drive and connect your old hard drives again so you can keep using your current windows installation

The Win10 license is now tied to the computer hardware (don't remember if its the CPU or the motherboard) and you can at any time in the future just install Windows 10 and it will auto-activate since microsoft stores your hardware id on their activation servers.

I guess, but the cooler and power delivery are better indicators of how much you can overclock it.

Considered hackintoshing?

Since it's time consuming and a bit of a hassle to OC I was considering just leaving the card at default to begin with and then it makes sense to get the card with the highest default clocks.

There's plenty of cards that are more expensive than the ASUS like MSI, Gigabyte and EVGA but they don't have as high clocks. My guess is that they might have better cooling and power delivery to justify their prices.

I have to Order them for a College.

Not sure how'd they feel about a Dozen 200 dollar T420's running OSX.

two real question
>1
is D terminal or Component a better video source? I've never gotten a good answer on this. I've heard people say that one or the other is better
>2
if D terminal is best, where can i get a good D terminal switcher? I'd like to plug around 4 consoles into it and output at least one d terminal cable

actually im not sure its a thinkpad t530m if that helps is there anyway of telling

I'm no expert but considering that they both send the same Component signal it's probably more important to get a good quality cable rather than getting specifically Component or D-terminal.

Wanting to build a PC for gaming but I have no idea where to start. I don't even know anything about PCs. Where can I get some prime reading material that's not wiki?

How do I root my phone?
I've got an Xperia M4 Aqua E2303.
I tried Kingo root but it didn't work.
What do?

tom's hardware seems like a pretty good place for all of your question
but ultimately, building a PC is more of a hands-on learning experience

I have a around 1Tb of of data I need to permanently archive. It's irreplaceable and most of it I'll most likely like to keep safe until the day I die so 50 years if I'm lucky.

However I'm not sure how to go about doing this exactly. I know the 3 2 1 backup rule and I've got that but with some of my recorded media that's about 7 years old, when I checked on it two of the hard drives that I had it backed up on failed. Fortunately the third one still worked.

I'm looking for a long term storage media that I know will work 10 to 15 years down the road when I need to retrieve some of this data.

Should I just go the bluray route? They're supposed to last 50 years and I'd be willing to bet that the next couple generations of disc based video will be backwards compatible. (assuming there will be physical media 10 years from now).

Are there better options that don't involved monthly fees like cloud storage and aren't prone to failure like HDD?

What's the real difference between Sata and Molex power for HDD?

Which is better?

Howdy, Sup Forums.

Oddly specific stupid question: a friend just got a $50 Amazon gift card and wants to get an external hard drive that will last for a while. What's the best he can get for fiddy bucks? Keep in mind longevity is his main need.

well, the device I hope to route the video signals through doesn't have component-in and only has d-terminal (it's a japanese device), so I was wondering if I'd be better off buying the D-terminal cables and a switcher to preserve quality, or buying a switcher, the remaining component cables I needed, and a component/d-terminal converter

Best guide for someone who doesn't know anything about programming except how to spell it, to be able to make a basic android app?

4

HDD lasts longer than SSD, so go there
also usually cheaper per amount of memory

Thanks ima take a look but I guess I'm really looking to just get a grasp of all the technological terms and shit I'll need to know

write onto crystals

so is the reason that all I get are jack off's replying to this question mean that there is no real readily available solution to the problem of large volume data archiving??

have you considered tapes?

very very very expensive however.

Are there any benchmarks, comparisons or guides done on direct cpu/gpu die to heatsink thermal differences contrasted to conventional thermal outputs? (delidded cooling)

I have a similar situation to yourself. Honestly, I am almost ready to just commit to Bluray. It's the best option atm, especially with BDXL

someone help :(

What is the exact error you get when you try to start Windows? "BOOTMGR is missing"?

File: /windows/system 32/winload.efi

Status:0xc000000f

Info: the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

I know there are some comparisons of delidded CPUs, GPU delidding isn't very common as far as I know.

I've considered it but I don't have a means of proper storage. I live in washington state and it's wet as fuck and the home I own doesn't have a central climate control. I can' expect about 15 to 30 years of reliable archiving and I run the risk of corruption because tape compresses the data. people expect archiving bluray to last much longer in non climate controlled conditions.

Ok, stupid problem here.

Ultrabook, no ethernetport
Chuck graphics drivers and wi-fi card drivers onto USB stick

Something wrong with the USB ports now on the ultrabook, cant get the wi-fi drivers onto there.

Cant just update stuff because it's no internet due to lack of ethernet port and wi-fi drivers.

What the fuck do?

airtight containers should work fine.

Idk, man. Do what feels right~~

does it have an optical drive?

windows fsutil
linux dd i think?

No, not that either. Only 2 USB ports, SD card drive and some thundershit.
