>implying code comments get compiled into the binary
WTF
WHAT THE FUCK HOLLYWOOD

Kung Fury

Not a movie but Mr. Robot is great

this

Hackers (1995)
Serial Lain

That way if the machine gets confused or forgets where it is it can read what is supposed to happen

Ayyy , let take down the net

Capturing The Friedmans

...

blackhat is probably the worst hacker movie ever.

best hollywood hacker movie i have seen is probably girl with the dragon tattoo, at least it's somewhat realistic, She uses a stupid macbook the whole time though.

the part where that big fat guy drilled her in the ass was pretty hot tbqh

>girl with the dragon tattoo
what version?

The Matrix (1999)

The Merican version, I know people say the sweed version is better but i beg to differ.

I've heard now that daniel craig is done with james bond he's considering doing a sequel.

...

Antitrust still lives up to this day, despite being made 15 years ago. It is not only technically accurate, but parodies elements of popular companies (like the CEO being a cross of Ballmer and Jobs).

>ACCESS GRANTED
Is there any known service out there that produces this message upon successful auth? I've been using computers for decades and have yet to see it.

Hackers - 1995

Doubt it. It's visual storytelling since that shot is only 1-2 seconds long.

its all hollywood senpai, normies wouldnt know if the password worked or not

Im sure metasploit does it lmao

Why the fuck don't you just make it say that if you want?

97% unnecessary

>your feeling when you were underage in the 80s

>people didn't literally see you like this

Wargames - 1983 version

Normally it will just Welcome or some other MOTD. It won't display a graphical splash screen because it's actually a waste of time to implement into a system

...

The Net wasn't too bad.

>her shitposting
>her tumblr
>her upvotes
RM -F'D

youtube.com/watch?v=4Q7FTjhvZ7Y

not about hacking but great tech documentary from a great time period

TRON: Legacy

Thats scifi shit like the matrix.

Swordfish.

Kein system ist sicher - if you can handle subs

The UNIX scenes were cool tho

In the book she uses a 17" Powerbook G4 iirc.

Literal cancer.

>continued

Far as I remember, these are the true hackers.

RIP cyberpunk 1980 - 2003

I love it. saved.

Day's of joy gone by...
We will never get those times back.

There are certain circumstances where it's possible. It's not that it's compiled or anything, but if you're making an image arbitrary data can sometimes get included. You see this a lot in old console games where partial source files are present in the ROM.

...

>why can't i see my posts?

I remember being impressed by this when watching this in the cinema. You wouldn't expect such a big mainstream movie to get this shit right. It's not that hard to get right if you think about it though. It's probably actually more expensive to let your graphicsfags invent and edit in an entire fantasy computer system.

On an unrelated topic, what DE does Sup Forums use?

But that's not the same

With all the VR and AR shit, pretty much this

Memes

DWM

Dont even think about derailing my thread with that shit asshole.

Check the catalog for the desktop thread.

guys calm down, we all know XFCE is the only real option, infact its not even an option.

This is why we can't have nice things.

...

Halt and Catch Fire
(it's a TV show)

theres like no torrents for this

>What are some good computer hacker movies or documentaries Sup Forums?

I was pretty happy with the realism of the hacking in Mr Robot.

All the hacking was on the command-line, using real commands (like ls, wget, etc.).

There was none of that bullshit flamboyant GUI fake-hacker stuff, like having a huge blinking box on the screen that says "PASSWORD ACCEPTED" followed by Matrix-like text scrolling by at 1000 lines per second with the guy glancing at it and knowing exactly what it means.

check tpb I'm downloading season 1 right now

yea got s1, the only s2 bundle is 16gb, on an australian connection that will roughly take me 4 years, give or take.

You guys need to put mesh antennas on your roofs, It will be slow but probably still faster than your internet.

Meme's for the usual Sup Forums developer wannabe.
Tool's of unlimited potential for anyone with a mind to hack and mod.

>Halt and Catch Fire

they should have called it The Floor is Lava

gnome, and before i started watching that meme show

In the mean time, ill start setting up that mesh network

Not with the current locked down hardware, It seems like the technology is being heavily patented and restricted.

The only thing you will be doing with VR is checking facebook and instagram in 3D at this rate.

>locked down
the developer edition has even unlocked bootloader, go nuts with the firmware, source is available

Swedish of course
Murica always screw up foreign movies (rec, shutter, district b13)

AR btw, not VR

Most realistic, def true

>implying I use a bloated DE

i3wm or gtfo

> HACK THE PLANET!

Hackers is my fave. A good documentary is the BBS documentary. It's on YouTube. Cool history of bulletin board systems.

Also book wise, Neuromancer is an absolute must read if you like cyber punk.

second to the bitch with a tattoo

Mr. Robot is probably the closest representation of a real hacker doing real damage, not Matrix fantasy

Are there seriously not any good hacker docs made within the last 10 years?

>unlocked bootloader
That means nothing when the BIOS boots before the bootloader and code can be injected into it.

Please, hacker are bad evil people. You wouldn't want to make a documentary without telling everyone who bad they are. Don't forget, they are bad, anti-social, psychotic and want to see the world burn.
Watch some reality TV show instead, be a good goy

Forgot to mention that Hackers the history of hacking is on YouTube as well. It is a good documentary that has captain crunch, woz, and mitnik.

youtu.be/Y47m1cOyKjA

They don't have a BIOS, only firmware dipshitto

youtube.com/watch?v=5vnjheCqRIs

not too bad but it's in german

Well, a lot of people in the IT industry use Macbooks, so it's not that unrealistic.

23

(1999)
imdb.com/title/tt0126765/

Sneakers is pretty good, maybe not the most realistic though. The soundtrack is god-tier if nothing else

the matrix

this is the best for me

Yeah it was good. If you watch the movie I suggest reading the book by Clive Stoll - The Cuckoo's Egg. It's god tier. Also Stealing the network.

>Hackers
>Wargames
>The Net
>Sneakers
>23
>Password Swordfish
>Takedown I & II
>Firewall

What's the top movie senpai?
Looks comfy.

Matrix 1 and 2

the matrix
kung fury

she uses an actual exploit of the time of filming, though

that's more accurate than any other movie that exists.

If you're up for a TV series, Person of Interest is pretty good, but there are a few slip-ups in the first season.

Pic related, they get many of the small details right.

Anyone know? I want to watch the movie from that 80s pic

>In June 2000, while visiting Korea, I did a fun hack that clearly illustrates the original and true meaning of the word "hacker".

>I went to lunch with some GNU fans, and was sitting down to eat some tteokpaekki (*), when a waitress set down six chopsticks right in front of me. It occurred to me that perhaps these were meant for three people, but it was more amusing to imagine that I was supposed to use all six. I did not know any way to do that, so I realized that if I could come up with a way, it would be a hack. I started thinking. After a few seconds I had an idea.

>First I used my left hand to put three chopsticks into my right hand. That was not so hard, though I had to figure out where to put them so that I could control them individually. Then I used my right hand to put the other three chopsticks into my left hand. That was hard, since I had to keep the three chopsticks already in my right hand from falling out. After a couple of tries I got it done.

>Then I had to figure out how to use the six chopsticks. That was harder. I did not manage well with the left hand, but I succeeded in manipulating all three in the right hand. After a couple of minutes of practice and adjustment, I managed to pick up a piece of food using three sticks converging on it from three different directions, and put it in my mouth.

>It didn't become easy—for practical purposes, using two chopsticks is completely superior. But precisely because using three in one hand is hard and ordinarily never thought of, it has "hack value", as my lunch companions immediately recognized. Playfully doing something difficult, whether useful or not, that is hacking.

Bretty descent show
!

it's the hackerman character from the movie Kung Fury.

>tfw missed those times due to being born too late

inb4 borninthewronggeneration

Ty senpai

This guy is a fucking pleb holy shit

>this guy fucks

the movie isn't really about hacking, hackerman barely is in it. also it isn't that long of a movie.
