Not really. Being a jerk to everybody and being outwardly racist are two different things; verbally abusing a man who makes a mistake and verbally abusing a woman who makes a mistake are the same.

For the record--if I remember correctly--his rationale behind his behaviour is that it's the only way he can realistically manage a project as huge as the kernel. He can't mince words or beat around the bush. If somebody has made a mistake, they have to know they've made a mistake beyond all doubt. Losing (or apparently losing) his shit with them is about the only sure-fire way of doing this. It's quicker, clearer, and saves everybody (including the "victim") a bunch of time.
