I'm using a vanilla W7 install. Not planning on doing any updates with it. Other than CommonSense 2010, and Malwarebytes once and awhile, anything else I should do? I'm on a dorm wifi network, as well.

Bump

install gentoo

RequestPolicy + your choice of an ad block, and you're good.

I do have Adblock, but I use Chrome. Any alternative for that?

Sorry, but I have no idea. Never used Chrome.

RequestPolicy, I mean.

uBlock all the way.

Hope your WiFi network has host isolation otherwise some skid is going to run Metasploit and own your machine in five clicks because it doesn't have any security hotfixes.

uMatrix is nice if you aren't stupid.

10 Enterprise LTSB N + the Sup Forums Microsoft engineer debloat script (Google it or maybe another user can link), followed by the aegis debloat script

Well, I have a pirated copy and I don't exactly want to deal with the genuine advantage crap. Does DAZ loader really work well? Never used it before desu senpai.

Install MobaXterm everything you need is in there.
Install palemoon since firefox went wrong.
So what do you want it to use it for?

Sysinternals is a must if just for Process Explorer

...

install 7zip
and notepad++

Really just work personal work, won't be doing any finance/business/sensitive info on it.

Thank you user, I will give it a shot. Any other advice you can give me?

Make sure to use this to install the majority of your updates. If you have a vanilla version of W7 or even W7 with SP1, getting your first round of updates is a huge pain in the ass and can take forever.

This method allows you to get W7 (just Windows, not .NET or any of the other accessories) updated up to April 2016 quickly.

Didn't even know such a thing existed. Thanks a ton!

By the way, get the authentic DigitalRiver ISO instead of pirating something. Often, the pirated copies you find on sites like TPB have malware.

That way you can actually get/use a legitimate license key to activate it if you want to do everything 100% legally.

Nice try fag.

DigitalRiver went down like a year ago iirc.
You'll need a oem code to download from microsoft's website.

uBlock

>no updates
>common sense

What's CommonSense 2010? Can't find a dl anywhere :/

>2010
Are you also using windows media player 9 to play your DVDs grandpa?

Common sense is the mean to describe non reactive security.

Another protip: consider using this after you set up your W7 install.

safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/

It disables/opts you out of lots of the telemetry features that they have added to Windows 7 recently. It works on W10 and W8 too.

Also don't opt into recommended updates (just go for the important ones), that's how you get stuff like the surprise W10 updates that happened recently.

Read this.

It's outdated trash, search for CommonSense™ 365™ in your distro's repository.

Just get directly on Microsoft.

Go to microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/techbench, open inspect elements and type this on console:
var _0x5c09=["product-edition","getElementById","innerHTML","Select editionWindows 7 Starter SP1 Windows 7 Home Basic SP1 Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 Windows 7 Professional SP1 Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Windows 8.1 and Pro Single Language (Autumn 2014 update)Windows 8.1 and Pro (Autumn 2014 update) Windows 10 Home and Pro th1Windows 10 Single Language Home and Pro th1Windows 10 Home and Pro (1511 th2 Feb 2016 update) Windows 10 Single Language (1511 th2 Feb 2016 update) ","submit-product-edition","Confirm","log"],_0x1d62=[_0x5c09[0] ,_0x5c09[1] ,_0x5c09[2] ,_0x5c09[3] ,_0x5c09[4] ,_0x5c09[5] ,_0x5c09[6]] ,edititonbox=document[_0x1d62[1]](_0x1d62[0]);edititonbox[_0x1d62[2]]=_0x1d62[3] ,document[_0x1d62[1]](_0x1d62[4])[_0x1d62[2]]=_0x1d62[5] ,console[_0x5c09[6]];

Neat.

Sauce?

Are you kidding

This

It is not CommonSense to avoid security updates.

Her name is Fujicakes

that was just what lupin called her as a term of endearment in the english dub. her name was fujiko

You should install the updates, except for the GWX shit.

I tried pasting it in the console in firefox and in chrome. It won't get it. Help.

This, this is the best Windows based OS you can get.

Does LTSB really need debloat scripts?

nevermind got it to work

>Not planning on doing any updates with it
Enjoy your 0-day drive-bys retard. No amount of common sense protects you from those - unless that common sense happens to be keeping up with security patches.

But you're stupid for that, aren't you?

>10 Enterprise LTSB N
Where do you find that in microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/techbench

Is it this?

I can give a torrent link? I used this one. Dont bother with the readme, just install the EN-US version.

thank you

In this case 'debloat' was probably the wrong term to use. These scripts are mainly beneficial with ltsb n for disabling residual telemetry shit that you can't quickly take care of with group policy editor.
