But I hope that's true. Helping friends shop for a new GPU is really fun for me. So far i've only picked nvidia, i try challenge this but after a litle research i've always failed to pick radeon over nvidia.

Oldfag here, 3dfx stopped being good once the Voodoo 3 set the tone for future cards, they were (initially) cheap and fast, but all at the expense of image quality in a time where people were starting to care about that shit in a post-PS2 world

The Voodoo 2 was their only REALLY good card, because it came during an era where early combo cards were garbage, and the pro-est setup was a good Matrox or S3 for 2D, and a Voodoo 2 for 3D

They are entirely business/enterprise now.

For how long? If you choose a GF9xxx over a Radeon 4000 or a GF2xx over a Radeon 5000 you are literally retarded unless the nvidia cards were too cheap, thing that usually didn't happen.
