How do I make programs use more memory? I have 16GB doing fucking nothing

How do I make programs use more memory? I have 16GB doing fucking nothing.

update them

Unless you play Minecraft it doesn't quiet matter

Find a way to have kb+m input sent to 2 duplicate vms.

>he fell for the 32GB meme

It's your own fucking fault for letting shills sell you shit you literally have no use for

Set up a ramdisk and use it for things that could make use of said ramdisk.

Running virtual machines will use that ram pretty quickly

>have 16Gb
>fell for the 32Gb meme

chrome will find a way

Use spotify

The chrome meme

Emulators

PS3/3DS emulators

Thanks for the suggestions. But I'm wondering how to make the programs I already have use more memory. Qbitorrent barely uses anything. Firefox barely uses anything.

If you're using a modern OS all of your RAM is being used for cache if not used by a program.

And why would a program magically want to use more ram just because you have more? You should be happy they know how to conserve to what they need

>I have 16 GB doing nothing
>I only have 16 GB

Well, my first suggestion would be turning your computer on. Then maybe we can start utilizing a bit more of it.

but OP said he wants to waste memory

Using more memory is not a good thing, programs like that are supposed to run with low memory efficiently. No one can help that your retarded and bought enough memory that literally no programs would use

Some programs are coded to use a certain amount of RAM but work better with more

I have 8GB, and I barely use 40% of it.

you dont do 3d modelling or CAD?

This. Run After Effects and watch your RAM disappear, but you'll never get Your text editor to use anything meaningful.

yes | yes

Think newer games will require more than 8GB? I've been thinking of upgrading to 16GB.

Most free RAM is not actually free. OS uses it for buffers and caches, which makes your whole computing experience faster.

Make fractals

>you'll never get Your text editor to use anything meaningful
What if you use Atom?

Probably since they continue to up their needs

Modded games can use 4-8GB alone. KSP with 80 mods uses like 6GB

Not him, but how do?

Do actual work on your computer?

>have 32gb RAM
>use Photoshop and several other image editing programs at once
>start stacking on layers in PS
>memory usage at 67%

It was a meme until I figured out what the hell I was doing in Lightroom and PS.

One interesting thing I did notice was when I punched out my E545 Thinkpad from 4gb to 16gb it used the HDD a lot less for swap and ran almost exclusively off the memory which was pretty cool. I could run a bunch of programs at once if I wanted to and only use max 10gb of it.

16gb may be a meme but with memory prices as cheap as they are, why the hell not. I remember paying 400 dollars for Corsair XMS 1gb DDR400 2-2-2-5 with the LEDs on the top back in the XP days.

Text editor no but any Java app yes.

how to use more ram??? :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

>how do I make it use more memory
>le 32 GB meme

Lusers pls. Ever heard of tmpfs? My programming experience is 9001% better now. I can run multiple VMs.

You'd have to be a pathetic ricer faggot in order to think more memory is somehow bad.

...

This kid is unstable

>how can I force a program to use more resources than it needs

Don't post on my or my wife's son's board ever again you fucking mongoloid.

You god damn fucker.

user, you are retarded. Programs only use what they need, forcing them to allocate more doesn't mean they will use more. If you want to do something productive with your RAM, run servers on VMs and learn how computers actually work.

>Cached: 7.1GB

What does this mean? Programs that have reserved memory and may/may not need it?

Depends on the program user

I haven't restarted my computer in weeks. I am currently using 11 GB of ram. what do

Start by apologizing to your computer

You mad bro?

Go play DCS World in multiplayer and watch how it uses most of your ram.

>picture
Who installs RAM on one side of the CPU?

Ads designer

>How do I back in the consumerist loop?
Please die

fuck that 64GB meme
96GB is the only correct answer

thank you for saying this

>Fell for the 16gb RAM meme

I know that feel.
>buy 16 GB for new computer
>only use 2 GB at best

...

I have nothing heavier than chrome open and I'm using about 11GB

lol kill yourself

>He got excess ram and still wants to use all of it

The entire point of 16 gigs Is for doing multiple things in the background without lag

You fell for the "I really need 16gb when 8 will more than suffice with the vast majority of games"

>being this much of a chode
