If it's important for you to be always directly "from the actual company" go for it but open source drivers has not restrictions on how they can be distributed and can be audited and improved by third parties, for me that's advantage. In my own experience i've installed linux in a lot of computers and except for broadcom wifi and nvidia GPU drivers which can be installed directly from the additional drivers GUI i've never needed to install drivers for the computer to work correctly.

There's no bug-free OS and in my own experience windows is much more prone to errors, curiously that's one of the reasons why i changed my OS, because the linux distros i use needs much less maintenance than windows.

This is my laptop. It took my less then 2 hours to set up everything. Could of taken less time if I didn't set up rsync to sync my browser and programs profiles.

Be honest anons. Would any decent version of Linux be worth installing in my laptop ? I want it to be avle to perform just as well as win 10 and have the same battery life or maybe better. Also I want it to handle scaling well cause win 10 sometimes doesn't like me having a 1440p screen that's under 20 inches.

Kid if you want to enter the tech field just play around and learn. My first distro was Ubuntu 5.10 "Breezy"?. Download virtualbox and kali linux virtualbox image. You can learn a lot with the tools included. Just don't actively exploit unauthorized systems.

If you want to learn programming I suggest python and pycharm community edition.

I don't mind that you want to use Windows, nor do I believe that my opinion on it matters anyway. Part of that freedom GNU/GPL faggots are always ranting and raving about, is using proprietary software if it is what you want and/or need. Depends on the distro, as far i can tell this statement is not true for ubuntu LTS releases after the first 6 months which is when the previous LTS suggest the user to upgrade.

Yea, but on windows you gotta hunt down where to download the .exe, navigate through multiple pages to get to the actual download link, locate the downloaded .exe, scan it for viruses, click it, swim through more bullshit about licenses and toolbars and shit, install it, run a malware scanner to get rid of the toolbars or whatever that it installed anyway, and then run your second malware scanner to pick up whatever the first one might have missed. Maybe reboot too.

In Linux you either type the command that will locate, download and install it into the terminal, or use your graphical package manager to make it ever slightly more complicated for you, and that's it. You could build the package yourself if you wanted/needed to, for whatever reason, and yes that will be much more involved, but for most people they will never attempt to do this anyway. Windows is only less hassle in principle.
