x300 is great but not $120 great. Search for x301 for true patrician tier thinkpad.

Whats the difference between the X230 and the T430? Looking to buy a thinkpad for CS classes and narrowed it down to pretty much these two but they seem identical.

I've got a AUD $1000 to spend, what should I get instead of a MacBook Air. I'm looking for lightness more than anything and battery life.

x series are a LOT smaller than the T series.
the only downside is that the x230 only takes slim drives (7mm I think) and it only has a 1366x768 screen (there's an IPS option so that makes up for it a bit).
the nice thing about the t430 is that it's a bit bigger, as a dvd drive slot that you can replace for a second hard drive, and it has a 1600x900 option

It mostly comes down to what you prefer. Do you want thin and light while sacrificing resolution, or do you want resolution at the cost of a surprisingly larger laptop

Got an x220 and noticed that the speakers are not so great. My x61t speakers seem better. Did I fuck up drivers somewhere or something?

Anyone know of a wifi "mpcie" card that's compatible with the WWAN slot on a T430s?

I've replaced my mPCIe with an eGPU and would like to not have to live with USB wifi

The WWAN "mPCIe" port doesn't seem to be PCIe based (possibly USB bus?) as the eGPU and the WLAN cards both don't work in it.

Should I have gotten one with a battery, because everyone seems to just buy a new one when they get theirs.

Is your Bluetooth working? Cause my x220's Bluetooth isn't and I assume that's what it is. I haven't found any drivers to fix it either.

~14.2 seconds, Dell Latitude E6420, i7-2630QM true quad, 8GB DDR3, 7200 rpm Hitachi hard drive, cold boot to the login window (some of us do actually make use of password security, you know).

It can actually cold boot in about 8 seconds if I set a static IP for my Gigabit NIC but since I use wireless I have to leave it with DHCP enabled so I lose a few seconds with that connection.

thinkpad x220 or t420. if you want something higher res you can get a x240 or t440p and replace the touch pad and upgrade the screen to a 1080p one

I cannot get Bluetooth working in Windows 10 for the life of me on my x220, I've tried installing chipset drivers, installing the hotkey program to enable fn+f5, even updating the BIOS then resetting Windows didn't work. Does anyone here have Bluetooth working??

You can always flash a new BIOS the hard way (a chip clip and EPROM programmer) unless the ECU version is also different.

Been using a x201 for a couple of years and it died. Was thinking about fixing it but got a T420 instead. Installed the x201's memory and SSD and it started like nothing happened. Just had to install maybe two drivers and keep working. I love this shit.

Miss fingerprint reader, tho.

Refurb X250 or X260 might be a good choice. I just got a X260 i3 cpu, 1366x768 IPS, 16GB ram & 500GB HD for $569 USD.

X series is sturdier than the Thinkpad 13, has the 2 battery system. CPUs are low power so you get about 6 hrs use.

I recently purchased a i7 1080p x260. What OS did you install on it? What BIOS settings did you change?
