Why is Nvidia considered better than AMD?

Why is Nvidia considered better than AMD?

Marketing and power usage, that's about it.

nvidia costs more making rich fags mad

...

Because of Nvidia®'s Jewish tricks like GimpWorks™ and ShadowPlay™.

Although Nvidia® isn't all that bad, CUDA™ is absolutely based.

Because Drake

Because they don't release rebrands all the time

literally
P E R F E C T

AMD fucked up, this is the only message that reached retards, there is no coming back, the default brand for a retard is nvidia

Won't comment on the cards themselves, but for me, a big factor was the drivers. AMD vidya cards always gave me problems, and on Linux, my screen would occasionally blank-out if I switched virtual terminals or logged out of my desktop session, with the only fix being to reboot.

The crappy drives makes sense, since AMD's CEO is an Asian woman.

1) Because they are better
2) Because AMD are worse
3) Because your mother never loved you and wanted to give you up for adoption before she decided to keep you and turn you into the biggest faggot the world has ever seen

nVidia pays game developers to needlessly introduce nividia proprietary shit into their games that fucks amd and benchmarks.

>theyre just better!
>faggot
why are you even here?
inb4 bait got you good XD

I hope this is bait

Stop telling jokes.

That was my one and only joke in this thread.

For accusing me of making a plurality of jokes, you, user, now owe me a joke.

Come on. Pip-pip. We don't got all day, user.

I was joking about Nvidia's dirty tactics because of Chinese CEO for the longest time until I discovered that AMD's was Chinese too.

They are like the second jews...

>the white mans burden

Hahahahaha go the fuck back to Sup Forums you inbred white thrash

Except there's only a few million Jews

There's more than a billion Chinese

Dont forget the compability issues amd always will be having.

Because it objectively is, at least on the high end. This coming generation, it looks like if you have the money, GTX 1080 Ti is going to be the card to buy. For budget, Polaris is going to be an amazing value, but it's not capable of anything close to what the 1080 Ti is going to do.

Sometimes something costs more because it does more.

I guess you could say I'm a fan of both having owned:

Cougar TNT2 M64
Geforce 3 Ti500
Radeon 9700 Pro
Radeon 4780
Geforce 8800GT
Geforce 970

Never had driver issues with either btw.

AMD, historically, always seemed to give you the better bang for the buck, which was great when I was younger, with less money. Nvidia and AMD have pretty good market strategies at the moment...

Where I want to see AMD really shine is the CPU market. Intel's price gouging, especially with the release of Broadwell-E is ridiculous. I want to relive the good ol' Athlon XP days.

>I want to relive the good ol' Athlon XP days.
AMD was great in part because Netburst was shit.

Today I'd still recommend AMD for budget stuff. They don't beat Intel on the high end, and even often lose to them on bang for the buck on the low end. But they do enable all the features on all the CPUs.

For instance I have a netbook with a very low power AMD potato APU. It's great on battery life though performance is about what you'd expect for such a low power and low cost chip. However it runs VMs and whatnot fine since features like AMD-V are enabled on even bottom end chips.

when was the last time AMD had compatibility issues

To be honest, I'm certain AMD's CPU division will literally be finished and bankrupt in a few years. Get ready for Intel® CPU Payment Plans™.

We can only hope that AMD still stays in the GPU race.

cuck

>on Linux
Lol, why would you even need a GPU?

Wtf am i looking at

>Why is Nvidia considered better than AMD?
who fucking knows, my wallet is AMD 4 ever

Audiophile grade cables.

Same as apple. Price and marketing

yeah nah. If they can manage to stay afloat with less than 1% of the server market and who the fuck even knows what share of the consumer market, and if zen is any better than bulldozer based architectures at all, there's really no way they're not going to make a comeback.

I really doubt they're making a profit with their enterprise chips, and the consumer market is a big pile of low-margin bullshit. Maybe AMD will be great again, but it's unlikely.

Yes they do?
They only changed that up with keppler, but they always rebrand g*104 chips several times.

680 = 770, 670 = 760, 660 ti = cut down 680.

480 = 570, etc.

Same as with iphones and android phones.
People buy overpriced shit and have to justify it by bragging about how good their stuff is.

the client side market is about 57% of intel's total revenue stream, their data centre segment is a bit over a quarter. their revenues were in the ballpark of about $60b last year. AMD sits around $4b. They only need to capture a fraction of Intel's market to make a massive, massive turnaround. Zen looks like a decent architecture, a 40% increase in IPC over the latest iteration of the current bulldozer iteration (forget what it's call). That combined with a die shrink and likely more cores for comparable price is going to lower their costs per wafer and finally made their cpu's look competitive. amd's fortunes are looking brighter now than they have in years.

You realize the white man's burden often involved literal cuckoldry? The whole point was about white people being paternalistic to people that are not their biological children.....

Remember the time when nVidia was the scrappy challenger to the dominance of 3dfx?

Those were the days.

No, fuck that. AMD needs to die and to die quickly. Competition only works when the competitor is competent, not when the only reason to buy their product is because you're afraid the other guy will have a monopoly (which is in and of itself anti competitive, if you buy inferior products to promote competition, you're actually just rewarding the company for putting out inferior products and slowing down progress for the industry). AMD existing in its current state is perfect for Nvidia, it allows them to dominate the market and makes it harder for actually competent competition to arise since AMD already owns the poorfag market that someone could exploit to make it into the GPU business in the first place.

I literally can't tell the trolls from the shills anymore

How is what I said wrong? AMD's only customers are autists who buy out of brand loyalty and idiots who think buying inferior products supports competition.

>AMD's only customers are autists

just a boring troll then.

>AMD's only customers are autists who buy out of brand loyalty

You don't seriously think a couple of autists and a handful of other people can provide 4 billion dollars of revenue, do you?

The world is a big place. Also AMD was bleeding money like crazy until recently, and they only stopped because they got their finances in check, not because sales went up.

What I don't get is how 3Dfx collapsed after one or two bad decisions but ATI/AMD can shit themselves consistently for a decade and still exist.

'all the time' = 3 1/2 years ago?

AMD had tons of cash on hand, IP, chip fabs and subsidiaries (like the mobile GPU business they sold off to qualcomm for pennies)

3dfx literally ran out of money because they bet the farm on their newer designs, which is exactly what AMD is doing right now with zen and poolaris.

Single card, no microstuttering.

It's shit but really you have to remember microstuttering.

in all fairness, 3DFX's last high-end card was a monstrosity that needed an external power supply.

the meme that audiophiles call 'life'

nvidia realesed whql or someshit drivers who bricked cards left and right a couple of months ago.
Thats the 364.XX and i think it was march?
And years ago i remember a driver who burned cards while navigating the starcraft 2 WoL menu.

Because Nvidia acts as a pseudo-dev company with it's midware and drivers, adjusting it's hardware to it,while AMD makes better hardware and doesn't as much on the software side.

It makes me happy every time I see someone use my screenshot

Because they have more money for shills.

i think Im the only one using it user, thanks for making it.

...

I created it a long time ago last year, I've reinstalled windows since then. Thats why the date is wrong.

They're really not. Problem is they're not run by retards. AMD's products normally compete with what they offer pretty damn well, problem is they can't market for shit.

a fucking repost from an active thread, jesus give it a few days

...

Better PR and shills like

Because they used to be the ''premium'' product. you'd always hear from other people that Nvidia cards in general had better longetivity and less issues, paired with better drivers.

The past years haven't been so great as a Nvidia user though, i'll definitely go for a AMD card when i'm about to upgrade.

>AMD's only customers are people too smart to fall for Nvidia's marketing hype or too ethical to buy from a company that constantly lies, rigs benchmarks, screws over competition with anti-competitive tactics and otherwise behaves in wholly immoral manner

FTFY.

For me it is because Nvidia has far more influence on the GPU. AMD has only been able to react to what Nvidia has been doing since the 5850/70.

>far more influence on the GPU *market
Fixed

>AMD's customers make their graphics cards purchasing decisions about morality when it really isn't
AMD already lied about the performance of the 480. They said two cards perform as well as 1.51x a single card in Ashes of the Singularity, and implied it was crossfire when it wasn't. The real GPU scaling was 1.83x, which means the single card performance is worse than AMD implied it was. And Ashes's multi GPU support does not use crossfire, it's better than crossfire, but most games do not have that support, so buying two 480s will net you worse performance than a 1080 in 99.9% of games. AMD is lying through their teeth about this card.

because they can afford to pay shills

remember tessellation and dx10 when nvidia couldn't do it and got it pulled from dx10, but amd had a working engine and got screwed due to it?

Because they cheat with fake amounts of ram and use drivers that give fake benchmarks due to lower image quality.

They are truly good business men.

AMD 4000 series > Nvidia 200 series
AMD 5000 series > Nvidia 400 series
AMD 6000 series > Nvidia 500 series
AMD 7000 series > Nvidia 600 series
AMD 200 series > Nvidia 700 series
AMD 300 series > Nvidia 900 series

If only AMD's marketing weren't so shit then there would be no Nvidia today.

Because they pay developers to cripple game performance unless computers users their cards so it would seem like the game stutter on AMD cards make AMD look bad

If only your shitpost actually reflected reality there would be no Nvidia today.

Here's the reality:
4000 = 200
5000 < 400
6000

>5000 < 400
>reality

Pick one

About to pick up a reference 970 right after the price drops when the 1070 comes out.
Is there any reason I shouldn't go with the reference design?

Heat and noise

>nvidiots actually believe this

Does crossfire actually work on all games or is it only on select ones?

They were better last 2 generations ago, technically. However price/performance wise, driver maturity performance, AMD wins. The 290/X competes pretty good even when its much older than the 970/980.

Crossfire and SLI requires proper game drivers and implementation on the game.

Cuz Nvidia cheats

Its select

>greater longevity
like the gtx780 who's on par with a 280 now?

LMAO. So much is turned the wrong way.

Nvidia lets you manually configure AA conpatibility for a game.

Amd does not

Nvidia has like 10 different non-postprocess AA methods available

Amd does not

For these reasons I buy Nvidia.

>10 different non-postprocess AA methods
Who care when we got one who looks good and not blurry?
