New AMD GPU for $200

I'm in the process of buying parts for a pc and have a very limited experience regarding building a computer from scratch.Luckily,I've had friends to explain the process thoroughly and youtube videos by CareyHolzman which go into visceral detail about putting together a computer.Recently a friend of mine told me about the AMD RX 480,an upcoming graphics card which promises to contend with the GTX 980 while only costing $200 and allegedly performing equivalently to a $500 GPU.

So what do you want?

>DisplayPort
>no HDMi

Is this shit serious?
AMemeD fucked up again

How blind are you nigger?

looks like the 4th port is an hdmi port, u should probably buy some glasses m9

>literally has a fucking hdmi in the pic

god damn nigger do you use glasses made by nvidia with media drivers?
doesn't show all the fucking textures or some shit?

ritard

lol

so would this work with an asus sabertooth mk 2 or no because if it doesn't im fucked

Why would it not?

is it gonna be better than a Fury?

what's the mobo chipset it supports dummy does it support LGA 1150?

Mobo chipset has no bearing on GPU. You can use an AMD card with an Intel processor. No promises it'll be hassle free, but it should work.

1.LGA is the socket type, not chipset.

2.Graphics card don't have compatibility issues with chipsets. Problems arise with power and bottlenecked components.

Another video card you might contemplate is the GTX1070. For $380 you get Titan X performance.

>2016 GPU for $200
I'm tempted to go to the poorfag side. I may just be able to buy a new GPU/PSU AND join /k/.

So would it work with my i7 4790k?

well you're retarded but at least not retarded as dvi poorfags

Again, the GPU does not have compatibility ties with other pc parts other than that power supply and old parts.

Since the 4790K is powerful, yes it will work with it regardless but you can be assured that your CPU will not limit the GPU

or you get 2 480s for $400 and gtx 1080 perf

ok thank you sorry for my stupidity.

Rx 480 + ncase what do you guys think

For the few games that supports multi-gpu.

you mean any true dx12 game?

In only one test. . .

I wish, the reference card is priced @500€

has the time come? Will I really switch to AMD? Maaaan...

>implying everyone who uses dx12 is going to use multi-gpu or that it isn't an optional extra like it is in DX11, DX10, DX9 . . .

is nice
high 5

1) The cards used in that test were the $249 8GB models.
2) Let's wait for some unbiased benchmarks before we cast any judgements. We know for a fact Nvidia was using special drivers designed to create an apparent increase in performance by producing a worse image. They even admitted to it. Nobody knows if (let's be real, how) AMD stacked their deck besides touting their DX12 superiority.

>multi-adapter
>dx9/10/11
yeah okay

>$249 8GB models.
230$

>No DVI

>wccftech memes
Remove yourself.

Are you new to technology and never heard of CF/SLI?

just buy an adapter you dingaling

$229, why would double the vram make a difference in a 1080p/1440p benchmark of aots? this isn't gta v, 4gb is enough.
>We know for a fact Nvidia was using special drivers designed to create an apparent increase in performance by producing a worse image. They even admitted to it.
yes so if anything their benchmarks are in favor of nvidia because they used the press-only drivers

Anyone still using DVI belongs in trash, no doubt.

A new monitor would be better advice.

>>multi-gpu
FTFY. I almost didn't see you trying to move the goalposts.

Buy an adapter for 7$ , it's what i did

multi-adapter is completely different to CF/SLI you utter fucking retard.

also nobody in their right mind would use SLI in 2016. it scales like shit and it's dated as fuck garbage that still needs a bridge to function.

wrong.

got a source that says otherwise?

Um I kinda like DVI because that's what my $200 1440p 120Hz monitor supports.

New monitor? I have 2x 24 inch 1080p dvi monitors, no reason to buy a new screen

you should put your poorfag korean a-panels in the trash where they belong.

either way you can use an adapter if you're that fucking welfare or you could buy a good monitor instead.

>multi-adapter is completely different to CF/SLI you utter fucking retard.
Yes. I almost didn't see you try and move the goalposts you utter fucking retard.

>wrong.
Why don't you explain what you mean by "mutli-adapter" so we can laugh at your misunderstanding of CF and DX12?

oh please do remind me of how you can crossfire or sli amd + nvidia gpus

please tell me how the multi-adapter feature of dx12 is just cf/sli, i'd love to hear it.

oh please tell me how i'm moving the goalposts when that's literally what you're doing in that post.

>why would double the vram make a difference
Just looking to get the facts straight here. We only have the one demo to go of so we should discuss it as we know it. The more assumptions you make the more likely you are to end up finding you were hyped up on dreams and full of shit.
Not that I think that's what will happen, NoVideo got dunked bad, just saying it's bad practice.

I could go make a shitty article with as many references as those losers have that says it costs $8000. wccftech is about the same quality a source as any post here. If you believe their nonsense then the R9 490 and Kaby Lake both released last fucking year.

if he's happy with the monitors, why bother? DVI is HDMI without audio

>inb4theonlydifferenceisyoucanusetwocardsfromdifferentmanufacturersbutonlyifitiscodedinbythedevs

>oh please do remind me of how you can crossfire or sli amd + nvidia gpus
>inaftertheonlydifferenceisyoucanusetwocardsfromdifferentmanufacturersbutonlyifitiscodedinbythedevs

>using Sup Forums memes
kill yourself

>I could go make a shitty article with as many references as those losers have that says it costs $8000. wccftech is about the same quality a source as any post here. If you believe their nonsense then the R9 490 and Kaby Lake both released last fucking year.
So I guess that's no then. :^)

>buy a good monitor instead

are you retarded?

>24 inch 1080p
What year is it? Doc Brown mus thave roofied me and stuffed me in his DeLorean.

HDMI is shit too. Fucking plebs the lot of you.

no good monitor these days has dvi

Let's give you some more rope.

Are you asserting that any game that uses DX12 will have multi-adapter support? Or that it does not need to be provided for by the developer just like today's games do not come with CF/SLI support unless the developers provide support for it (sans cludgy forced functions through drivers that tend to actually results in worse performance than a single card)?

>let's move the goalposts some more
ftfy

so you're retarded

they carry pretty much the same video signal

Alright. Here it is.

Awww! Poor baby got caught making an idiotic statement and resorts to tossing around terms he doesn't understand.

You are cherry-picking. You have disregarded all the similarities to point out _one_ difference.

where did i say that wasn't the case? having a dvi port on anything is literally useless for that exact reason. any gpu made after 2010 shouldn't have even had a dvi port

do two of these be able to use 8 monitors?

You're saying that if something has a DVI connection it's shit, which is dumb

what the fuck

I have a very limited experience regarding buying this as anything other than a shill/troll thread

assuming having similarities makes them the same thing is your mistake.
it means it's dated so it likely is shit. technology advances. big fucking discovery i know.

Only Nvidia arbitrarily limits supported monitors.
All modern AMD cards can use up to 36 displays alone or 72 in crossfire.
Check'd.

AMD gets it
It's 2016 for fuck's sake.
If you still use a DVI monitor you're fucking retarded. Jesus Christ if you're gonna spend around $200 on a new GPU, invest it on a fucking monitor with decent & modern I/O, like HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.4. Just fucking give up on DVI. AMD started doing that with the Fury cards, Nvidiot still fucking does it on A FUCKING $700 GPU. IF YOURE GONNA SPEND $700 ON A GPU, YOU HAVE MONEY TO FUCKING SPEND $200 ON A DISPLAYPORT MONITOR YOU FUCKING RETARDED SON OF A MAC.

>assuming having similarities makes them the same thing is your mistake.
Are you saying they are functionally more dissimilar than similar? That, as brought up before, "the few games that supports multi-gpu" will not include the few games that supports multi-adapters? That you are splitting hairs which were not relevant in the first place when the initial idiocy was about getting two AMD cards rather than an AMD card and an Nvidia card?

I'd stop posting if I were you. You are making AMDrones look like mouth-breathing knuckle draggers.

What do I do when I want to get into a porn comic but it's already got like 4000 pages?
Some One Piece bullshit where I'd have to masturbate for 35 days straight to catch up.

I think you're in the wrong thread

Or just DP to VGA

So I am.

Name?

...

You can read porn comics without masturbating, user. Despite what your mom says, masturbating is not mandatory.

>buy a good monitor instead

gr8 b8 m8
korean 2560x1440 120hz monitors are amazing and dvi is the most commonly used port on a graphics card

dvi has no built in drm i believe.

How can it do both?
Contend with a 980 and also perform equivalently with the "$500" gpu too?
Is it able to perform on different levels or something.

When you try to bait fucking at least get it right

Do you not have to add tax onto than as America has the dumb put prices before tax up rather than what you have to really pay

Uhm.. he did succeed with his bait, you replied
