What do you guys think of ReactOS?

What do you guys think of ReactOS?

I try not to think about it.

What is it?

too soon

Could be neat, but it's like...15 years too late.

The real option to Windows without abandoning the platform.

That DE looks right fuckin shite

It's pretty neat

What browser's best for it?

It's buggy, unreliable, unstable and unusable for any application someone can think of and needs years more development and yet will still be outdated.

Compared to GNU Hurd it's ready to ship.

Awesome project. Look forward to it being completed

I think it's cool.

It's a cool concept but nowhere stable or supported enough to use daily and probably wont be for years to come

Using ZorinOS, it looks like Windows, but it's a Ubuntu derivated system

Why is Firefox icon censored both on desktop and in taskbar?

How is that even remotely related?

>having to completely reinstall on LTS releases

>drakeposting

Same reason gnu/linux has iceweasel the logo isn't free

Great idea, but horribly buggy andunstable.. It's unusable to such a degree you can barely mess around/play with it, much less actually use it as a Windows substitute. It's been in beta hell for 15+ years.

Who knows? Perhaps in the future, as Microsoft continues to drive enthusiasts away from Windows, there will be renewed interest in ReactOS and more des will contribute to the project. Until then, it's pretty much garbage.

ReactOS isn't supposed to looks like Windows?

It's much more than a Windows lookalike. It's an open source Windows implementation. You're just running Ubuntu with a theme.

Really don't care, it works, and really noob-friendly

>It's an open source Windows implementation
So it's going to run windows applications?

Yes

That's its ultimate goal. It's making its way there one decade at a time.

Nice. I can wait. Win 7 is still good for a few years.

>using an inferior OS because you don't like change
Update that shit to 8

kind of pointless considering how easy it is to score a bootleg copy of XP.

>Can't even run on modern hardware, you have to use VMs
>BSODs constantly even in VM
>Multitasking is a joke
20 years of development, everyone. Wine+Linux is way ahead of this garbage.

Isn't making screenshots fair use?

future of the future

Not liking change is a perfectly valid argument not to switch

Admirable but misguided

Pretty good project.
It's still rather away from regular use on production machine.

It's the biggest POS ever but it's still better than Linux.

Probably would have been interested in it ten years ago. I hope they have fun reverse engineering that thing, because it's fucking useless.

Who the fuck cares how Windows LOOKS? It's all about the software. I wonder if Linux kernel can be sideloaded as an exokernel under Windows...
